Bigger doesnt mean better!

But that's my point. If you take the best 5A program and stack against the best 6A program, there's really no comparison. And if you combine all three Beaumont high schools, you'd have a school with about 4000+, if not more. They would be okay. They wouldn't be great, but they'd definitely do better than Brook does now. Lol

Even the lower-sized D2 6A schools woukd maul any 5A team. Katy and Cedar Hill would roll through 5A like Newton did when they dropped from 3A to 2A way back when lol

I think this article is a little misleading. Rarely will a powerhouse 6A play down so the majority of the sample games are ones the lower class team was probably favored anyway. A prime exams is SOC from this past year. They probably had 15 D1 kids on their roster last year and were slaughtered by Cedar Hill and DeSoto who they're probably equal to in terms on D1 talent, SOC still couldn't match the depth though. They even lost to 6A S. Grand Prairie, who was 5-6, before rolling to the state quarterfinals in 5A and losing to Ennis. Same goes for the better 5A's vs 4A's and so on.

High enrollments help a great deal. Allen does have the highest enrollment in the state if I'm not mistaken but the three Plano schools in their district probably have over 5k kids also. Cedar Hill has played in the title game three consecutive years and is one of the smallest 6A schools in the state so enrollments don't mean EVERYTHING but it's probably the second most important factor in winning titles behind coaching.

If its not about classification, then why have them?

You taking it out of context. Its alot of folks out there (and on this site) that think just because a team in general is 6A they're suppose to beat a team because they are 5A, same on down. Its about NUMBERS and TALENT within your football program, if the coach has that he will win. There are 5A programs that have the same football numbers (if not more) than some 6A schools.

6A and 5A are too close in size. Yes there are good small school programs but this message board would have you believe that the top 4A school would beat the top 6A school. And, that ain't happening!

If BISD had one high mega high school it would be able to at least compete with Allen not saying they'd beat them at every sport. But at least compete. We will see how Allen fairs when they add another school or two to that area.

Well you will never know since Allen will always be a one horse town. They will follow Plano and build more 9-10 schools.

You must have forgotten some recent history. Newton lost twice to EC, back-to-back, and EC repeated as District Champions.
