Well, Ill give you my report.... We started off, as a whole, a little shaky. We have some holes in our secondary, but my son told me our coaches were looking at different people and that explained it. When the timed scrimmage finally got around, HJ handled Lumberton and Bridge City pretty easily... When we went against Lumberton with the regular stopping clock, we held the ball about 10 of the 12 minutes, scored and then on defense took a fumble in for another score... BC was more of the same without the turnovers...

The scrimmage was run in this manner:

 

HJ #1 D vs. Lumberton #1 O            10 plays (controlled)

HJ #1 O vs. Lumberton #1 D            10 plays (controlled)

BC #1 D vs. Lumberton #1 O            10 plays (controlled)

BC #1 O vs. Lumberton #1 D            10 plays (controlled)

HJ #1 O vs. BC #1 D                       10 plays (controlled)

HJ #1 D vs. BC #1 O                       10 plays (controlled)

 

Each teams #2 units went in this same order but only ran 8 plays instead of 10.

 

After a small break, three 12 minute live quarters were played. (ran as a game, no kick returns)

 

1st 12 minute Q     HJ vs. Lumberton

2nd 12 minute Q    BC vs. Lumberton

3rd 12 minute Q    BC vs. HJ

 

 

Controlled scrimmage

 

Lumberton #1 scored 1 TD against HJ #1, HJ #1 scored 1 TD against Lumberton #1

Lumberton #1 scored 1 TD against BC #1, BC #1 scored 1 TD against Lumberton #1

No TD's scored with BC #1 vs. HJ #1

 

Total TD's scored in controlled (just #1 teams)

Live quarters

 

1st Q: Lumberton went three and out on first offensive series. Punt. HJ started from their own 35. Hawks went 15 plays, eating up over 8 minutes of clock, scoring on 3 yard TD run. XP no good. Lumberton started 2nd series with just 2:12 left, picked up 2 first downs but then ran out of time in quarter. Score: HJ 6, Lumberton 0.

 

2nd Q: Lumberton on offense first, picked up 2 first downs but then forced to punt. BC drove the ball down to Lumberton 15 before settling for 32 yard FG. 3-0 BC. Lumberton got a first down but then was intercepted. BC scored 4 plays later on 38 yard pass. XP good, 10-0 BC. Lumberton went for it on 4th down, failed. BC took over on Lumberton 44 yard line. 7 plays, 2 yard TD run. XP good, 17-0 BC. Quarter ended with Lumberton moving ball pass midfield. Score: BC 17, Lumberton 0.

 

3rd Q: HJ with ball first, picked up 2 first downs, then got a 40 yard TD run by Logan Thompson. XP good. 7-0 HJ. On 3rd play from  scrimmage, BC threw a pass out in the flat that receiver missed, ball was not blown dead, HJ picked it up and ran back for TD. BC coaches and players thought it was an incomplete pass, HJ played it like a lateral. Very close, could have been forward pass but give credit to HJ for playing until whistle. XP Good, 14-0 HJ. BC picked up a couple of first downs but then was intercepted by Dillon Mayes of HJ. Hawks moved the ball down to BC 5, then let clock run out to end quarter. Score: HJ 14, BC 0
