Newton will be a great matchup and thats exactly what WOS needs in pre district games. I stated that Newton must be a bottom feeder if thats what you call programs that continue the traditions these 4A schools have that WOS plays. Where did I say "WOS should travel all over the state"? How would "intelligence" sponsor trips? What does "phonics" have to do with traveling all over the state? Do you know what "phonics" are? You are doing an excellent job of reading something and making up a corresponding story about what you read. Are you a WOS graduate?

I don't care about WOS vs Huffman as WOS has traditionally been a better program. I have said multiple times that WOS is likely the best 3A in SETX though WOS is not undefeated against Huffman in the playoffs. WOS is among the better 3A programs in SETX along with Jasper. WOS is and has been nothing special outside of SETX. Newton on the other hand is a state power in 2A. This not in question.

You could be right to an extent. SETX is has no power 4As and only a couple of 5As that are mediocre. WB and PAM would definitely curb stomp WOS but most of the 4As would be competitive with WOS.

 

Newton and Burkeville are the only SETX teams to win championships in the last 27 years. By way of comparison, the regions to the North and West (does not include Houston or South of Houston) have fielded 30 state champions in the same time period. The data clearly shows WOS is one of the best programs in SETX. Outside of SETX, not so much.

They are both the best football program in SETx for their classification. But that's not even close to good enough for a state championship. The rest of the state is just too much better.

Uhhhh....news flash. WOS is on the shortlist of the most consistent winners in Texas HS football history. In ALL classifications at that. I believe in WOS' 30 something year history they have had one losing season. And 1 or 2 .500 teams. Lets just state a simple provable fact....wos has the highest winning percentage in the State in any classification of Hs football. I dont see how consistently making it to the last 8 teams for the past 3 or 4 years only qualifies as being good in SETX. Seems pretty good statewide also. And to further validate, they have lost to the eventual state champ in most of the latest seasons.

I don't really see what's hard to understand here...WOS has the highest winning % in the state. ... Playing against the likes of HJ, Hamshire, Silsbee...etc. like I said...the best team out of the bunch. So yes..they will consistently go 10-0, 9,1 ... I'm not saying they can help who they play because they can't. But the fact remains...they would not have that same winning % somewhere else.

They also consistently exit the playoffs when they see someone not from setx. Last 8 every year...yep. That's about when you see someone from another part of the state
