I'd like to see Hitchcock vs HF, if I could be two places at once. But I plan to go watch PNG vs BU. I'm curious to see if/how the new BU coach has made a difference.

Yeah that's fine. Having seen only 3 of SOC's games I'm only speaking anecdotally, without any data, but based on my observations, when SOC gets a personal or USLC foul, the refs get yelled at by the coach, not the kid(s). And the team wears gloves that are the same color as the opposing team's jersey, (for whatever reason). So, my take wrt the coach's reported quote is that It basically means let SOC's kids hold, and don't call personal or USLC fouls. Anyway, my thought was that it's pretty tough to beat SOC at home with "their" refs, regardless whether NS is in an off year or not. My other thought is that NS took SOC too lightly, since (if I recall correctly) they beat them pretty handily last season.

Indians 35 - 21. If I was the United coach, this Friday against PNG I'd be throwing long deep passes, with an occasional scramble out of the pocket intentional or otherwise. I have no data, but just based on my poor memory I think that all of United's scores against PNG for the past 2 or 3 seasons have been either long passes or QB scrambles. Besides that, just look at the PNG - Klein Oak game film. Of course, Coach J. is looking at the same film. I guess that's what makes the games interesting.

With all due respect to Lumberton's D. I don't know, though, I didn't see the game, and don't know about Lumberton's strengths. But L's offense only scored 3, as well. Reportedly (on this forum) Ned used 3 different QBs. Maybe they'll have some things ironed out by next week, but still, I'm thinking WOS is thinking pay back for last season's loss at home against the Dogs.

Yes, and from what I hear and read, visiting teams get no calls at SOC, especially holding, regardless whether the color of the linemen's gloves match the opposing team's jersey color.

More offensive holding calls in this game so far than I've seen in the previous 3 seasons total. Anyway, PNG D better get tough in the 4th qtr I'm thinking. 31 - 20 now.

I'm just mildly surprised. Lumberton has always been pretty tough to play at home, though.

I'll go with the home team, but I expect a close game. Last seasons' game was closer than the score indicated, as I recall. KO is a good 6a team. (6a, right?) Anyway, in the Joseph era the first game always seems to be essentially a second scrimmage, so to speak. So we'll see how it goes, and how many players get into the game, and the variety of plays. In '22 against PAM it seemed probably 95% or more it was a run up the middle.

I just read the Port Arthur News piece this morning, regarding the new AD. The article implies that the new AD and the current HFC are buds. I hope so. I wonder why the lady that was hired earlier backed out. Anyway, regardless of what's going on there politically or otherwise, as an outsider I've wondered in the past why the Memorial soccer teams (both boys and girls) weren't better, and perhaps other sports as well. Hopefully it will work out well for the kids, for football and all other sports in the district.

I think you're just being a troll, but anyway that's a poor analogy. And it's a poor result from UIL, to withdraw a team from playoffs, that isn't in the playoffs anyway. I think I've seen more kickoff returns this season than in the previous 2 or 3 seasons combined. Missed field goals too. Too bad for the SOC kicker, but you can't pin the whole loss on him. Anyway, I won't be surprised if both of these teams are back in the state game again next year.
