You're not serious are you?  Hardin and Tarkington never have a shot in this district to make playoffs, unless something changes with both communities, median income average, population increase, business or industrial uptick, oil and gas (pipeline) expansion(s) and half the town packs their bags and new blood comes in.  Now, if all those things happen, you can look for both of the programs to be on the rise.

I am serious. Their incoming Junior group is one of the more athletic groups to come through in a while. All of the difference makers saw considerable playing time as sophmores on varsity last year. The RB is a tough senior kid with some wheels! I know Taylor left but Belt provided stability in the transition. Do you have any actual knowledge of the program or the kids currently there? Just wondering how much of your opinion you can actually back up or if you're just throwing the yearly Tarkington sucks smoke out there.

They will be the most athletic looking team you've every seen and will have two or three D1 commits, but they will be poorly coached, poorly disciplined and have poor character on the field. Jasper will beat them but not because they out talent them.

Are you talking about Legacy the School of Sports Sciences? It says their coach is Michael Bishop, is that the same Willis/KState Michael Bishop????

  3. I'm interested to see how Tarkington looks going into Coach Kennedy's second year. His middle has put in a ton of work and I fully expect her to take District MVP honors. They return quite a few impact kids from last year and add a few from the lower ranks. I know one thing, these kids around here love Coach and I think he's got this program finally pointed back in the right direction.

Hardin has "had a few girls playing club" for the last 10 + years but yes, that "GROUP" graduated and only two of the girls on varsity play club for xcel.  Well, one isn't quite on varsity, but by the time school starts, she will be in my opinion.  She's the best DS they have as a freshman and far more athletic/potential than anybody they have on the roster.

100% agree. I had to edit as I completely read the school wrong…

Not this coming season.  Hardin will struggle to finish in the top 3/4 in district but they'll rebound quickly after this year.

They have a strong Freshman group. They will likely improve as the season goes on and be back near the top by next year.

District 10 has 7 teams with a total of 154 starting positions. I wonder how many of the 154 positions were occupied by freshman? Maybe someone can pull the numbers.

Tarkington had 0 Freshman starters last year - Only a handful of freshman ever dressed out throughout the season and none of them had any meaningful minutes.....

Onalaska returns to the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Coldspring returns to their playoff glory and goes three deep this year.

I could see Onalaska making the playoffs with New Waverly likely falling hard. But Tarkington and Crockett will battle it out for first place in the district. Coldspring will have a tough time going three rounds deep from the 3rd or 4th spot as that might match them up against a strong Hitchcock team. All that being said, I've never seen a team fall so hard as they did the second half of the season last year. Not sure, anything has changed since last years team to push them back into District title conversation.

Quite possible. I hope they get to stay in 3AD1 given all of the turnover lately. Would be a tall order for the new regime to have to deal with 4AD2 out of the gate in current circumstances.

The only positive regarding the recent turnover is the kids got a face that's been in house for a few years now and I don't think he's going anywhere. That will help provide stability for the kids. Might see some familiar faces pop back up in the coordinator positions as well. In reality, it will always be tough for us to compete in football no matter what class or district we are in. Basketball and baseball will stay competitive for next few years either way.

Never said Tarkington would be over 600 kids. Shepherd is the one that will be over 600. If the cut off went to 570 that would likely save Tarkington. My initial projections were based upon existing cut off numbers.

My apologies, I took the statement wrong then. Either way, unless we get an influx of people and in particular high school kids then it will be tight either way. We may be one of those borderline schools that help determine where the line is drawn to keep classes properly distributed.

Shepherd is over 600 8th-11. OF and Tarkington well past the cut

Unless I'm looking at something wrong, the number I come up with for Tarkington is 556 and thus puts us only 11 kids over just based on the enrollment numbers from the website you provided. I think the avg line move over the past few years has been about 8% of the bottom number so that would put the estimated cutoff at around 570. Don't get me wrong even that would put us really close to the cutoff. Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering where you're coming up with Tarkington will be well above 600+ kids from?

Would need to know what middle schools feed into the high school. They had 363 in the 9th grade.

From my understanding currently only Woodridge Forest Middle school feeds into West Fork. However that's completely based off of conversations with friends of ours that live there.

Only one direction - Up ?

I dont know the answer to that question, only he does.

If he decides to answer, please let me in on what it is. Sounds like some people were questioning him around here even though he was making great progress in such a short time with alot of other kids. If he's really concerned about the loud minority's opinion then he's going to hate Hardin. Because at least here he had enough talent to beat bad teams. There he doesn't have enough talent to beat anybody! He's done some really good things out here in a year's time frame. and will be missed by the majority.

I heard a story recently.. and, if true.. the school needs much more than stability.

For starters. It needs a LOT less Karens!!!! People used to like it here because it was old school. Conservative people with conservative values that let the school discipline their children then the parents disciplined again at home. These days, everyone is so SOFT!!! All these move ins are only making it worse.

So then Taylor from one of the two school that fit that distance radius. Why didn't you just say so! lol

I'll let yall guess which one!

What is with this school? How bad does it have to be up there that you take a pay cut to go to one of the worst athletic schools in the area? I thought he would be the first one to stay until he retired which would have given this school some stability for a change.

I guess the bigger question would be who didnt make it?  12 guys on each team... wow.

Yeah it's gotten a bit ridiculous on the EVERYONE gets a trophy. Heck I even got questions on the hometown 1st team picks. The best player for Tarkington is on 2nd team and a bunch of kids that averaged single digit points per game are on the 1st team. Also how does anyone from a non playoff team make 1st team unless they were truly dominant? This list looks a lot like you scratch my back and appease my parents and I will do the same.
