    TARKINGTON INFO

After a winless 2021 season, the Longhorns will look to bounce back under a new head coach Chad Taylor in 2022. Tarkington will return six starters on both sides of the ball with the offense being led by sophomore WR- Junior Ma’Alaelu, who started all nine games as a freshman. He could have a breakout season, especially if junior QB- Stephen Pavlat adjusts quickly to the new scheme. RB- Brandon Pitty has good size and speed. TE/LB- Brandon Bullock, OL/DL- Nathan Wells & OL/DL- Dylan James are expected to be major contributors on both sides of the ball.

    2021 Results- 0-9 / 0-6 District Record

    Lettermen R/L- 15/15

    Returning Starters -  Offense- 7  Defense- 7

    2022 INFO

Despite being an extremely young team under first-year head coach Jay Buckner, the Rebels made the playoffs and earned a playoff win last year. 2022 could bring more success as only seven seniors from that team graduated. WR/DB- Jody Isbell and WR/DB- Ethan Buford (14-365, 5 TDs receiving) are the top skill players returning, while DL- Casey Lewis (87 tackles, 4 sacks) is back and will lead the defense. Coach Buckner says despite the returning experience of 7 starters on each side of the ball, his team still has some youth, most notably in the trenches.

I would tend to agree here because Tarkington is so young. Most of their impact players are Sophmores. Coach Taylor and his staff are working really hard with these kids, it's nice to see a little excitement in the area about football again. I think it will take them a couple games and a few more weeks of practice to get something really started. Most of these kids are still trying to learn the system. My hat's off to Coach Taylor though in what he's trying to do here. Hopefully the community, the decision makers and most importantly the kids give him a chance to build something here.

Who do you have making the playoffs in this district ?

Well to make sure I'm being transparent, below is what I previously posted on the first page of this topic. I had a little breakdown as to why as well but don't want to muddy up my reply to you here.

    3A - District 23

    1. Crockett

    2. Coldspring

    3. New Waverly

    4. Tarkington

    5. Trinity

    6. Anderson

    7. Shepherd

    8. Onalaska

That being said below is my new predictions now that the coaching spots are now being filled and vacated I suppose.

    3A - District 23

    1. Crockett

    2. Coldspring

    3. Tarkington (I see Tarkington splitting with Coldspring this year but still landing at 3)

    4. Anderson-Shiro

    5. New Waverly

    6. Trinity

    7. Shepherd

    8. Onalaska

wow! there is definitely a lack of something in your life.

There no other way of saying this.

DUMBASS !! I was  supporting your statement ( in a pun intended kinda way).  Go hang out at the local truck stop and find you a lot 🦎 to help you get rid of the tension you come here with.

Trust me, I get it. I've been around Tarkington most of my life and I understand when it comes to football, we tend to be the whipping boys. The good years certainly don't outweigh the bad. That being said, I've seen that guy use Tarkington for every sort of pin cushion that you can imagine just in the past 6 months. It's just funny that, that was the example he used after he used the Tarkington head football coach post as his platform to unload his insults and "anger" on Tarkington sports, parents and athletes.

Did New Waverly graduate a bunch of key guys? This is an interesting move.

They still have a couple guys that are good but yes their best players have graduated over the past couple years. With this news, I see New Waverly falling out of playoffs if Anderson-Shiro's young guys can play well.

No hatred, just a relevant example for the topic. There is not a single person (including yourself) anywhere on the planet that does not believe "most teams beat Tarkington".

Just odd considering how many bad teams there are out there and they're always your punching bag. Remember I've got a history with your Tarkington bashing by this point, there's definitely a trend and hatred with you. All good, not here for hometown drama. Just found it funny (but not surprised) that, that's were you went.

Not at all. With some teams (such as Tarkington for example), everyone "has a chance to beat them" and "almost everyone does beat them". By way of comparison, "few have a chance to beat Carthage" but an even smaller "actually beat Carthage". An example of a team somewhere in between would be Silsbee, who "many teams have a chance to beat" and about half of those usually "follow through beating them".

In summary, having a chance to beat Tarkington is almost automatic to result in a win. While having a chance to bet Carthage very rarely equates to a win. A good way to view this phenomenon in a more quantifiable method would be to examine the win/loss records over extended period of time such as a "10 year sample".

Here we go with this guy again..... still trying to determine where your hatred lies with the Prairie. I'm convinced you lost a girlfriend or a wife to some guy out there. Don't worry buddy, you're probably both better off!!! Carry on with the football talk.....

  10. Tarkington position is still open. There was some rumors going around from usually in the know people a couple weeks ago but those got squashed last week with inside info from another local school. Don't have a clue what's going on around here. If anyone has any insight, would love to hear it.
