3-1 yes it does!
Keep it rolling Tark!
The best part about this game in my opinion is how scrappy these boys were. Obviously we are not very far removed from an awful season just a year ago where pretty much NOTHING went right for these kids or the coaches. This team which is starting 8 sophmores on offense and 7 sophmores on defense (some of the same of course...haha) and only about 5 seniors on the entire team went down 14-0 within the first 4 mins of the game could have easily rolled over and let this one slip away. Instead they came back and fought their butts off to take the win. I know we aren't the most athletic team in a stacked district and likely to go through some more growing pains for these younger guys but I think the future is bright for these Horns. I can't compliment Coach Taylor enough about his impact on these kids. Not only has he been great for football but he's made some great hires throughout the school on the girls and boys sides. Lots of positive things coming from my hometown!!!!
One thing that nobody really has talked about is our running back, Junior #5 Karson Jones. Man this kid can fly! Nothing official but I'm hearing his final number by the end of the night was about 270 yards rushing!

It was a bad week for a lot of people. Do I need to make it easier? Any complaints, criticism, comments? I also take requests. Let me know if think an upcoming game should be in 'em and I'll pencil it in now.
I think you're doing great! This is my first time getting in on the picks and I've really enjoyed it, even though I'm not very good at it. Thanks for all the hard work, I know how much time this takes and its appreciated.

From just a user perspective of a single game, If I have the pass yards / rush yards for both offenses, the defense allowed data is just the inverse.
Cumulative data can be captured and then sliced as needed. Avg passing yards per game, Turnovers +/- data, etc.
There are already resources that do some of this but it is inconsistent at the HS level.
Yeah I thought you meant strictly from a cumulative aspect as the year went on as a way to compare teams.

Just out of curiosity, what are the 3-5 stats that would be most important to readers here?
I am thinking:
- Offensive yards total.
- Turnovers.
- First downs.
- TFL - Sacks.
- Yards per carry.
I know a lot of people would be interested in personal stats but that is a little harder to gather quickly.
Things that a regular fan of HS Football would like to see the most at the end of a game?
Me personally, I'd rather just see the below.
- Offensive pass yards
- Offensive rush yards
- Defensive pass yards allowed
- Defensive rush yards allowed
- Turnovers

TARKINGTON INFO
After a winless 2021 season, the Longhorns will look to bounce back under a new head coach Chad Taylor in 2022. Tarkington will return six starters on both sides of the ball with the offense being led by sophomore WR- Junior Ma’Alaelu, who started all nine games as a freshman. He could have a breakout season, especially if junior QB- Stephen Pavlat adjusts quickly to the new scheme. RB- Brandon Pitty has good size and speed. TE/LB- Brandon Bullock, OL/DL- Nathan Wells & OL/DL- Dylan James are expected to be major contributors on both sides of the ball.
2021 Results- 0-9 / 0-6 District Record

2022 INFO
Despite being an extremely young team under first-year head coach Jay Buckner, the Rebels made the playoffs and earned a playoff win last year. 2022 could bring more success as only seven seniors from that team graduated. WR/DB- Jody Isbell and WR/DB- Ethan Buford (14-365, 5 TDs receiving) are the top skill players returning, while DL- Casey Lewis (87 tackles, 4 sacks) is back and will lead the defense. Coach Buckner says despite the returning experience of 7 starters on each side of the ball, his team still has some youth, most notably in the trenches.
I would tend to agree here because Tarkington is so young. Most of their impact players are Sophmores. Coach Taylor and his staff are working really hard with these kids, it's nice to see a little excitement in the area about football again. I think it will take them a couple games and a few more weeks of practice to get something really started. Most of these kids are still trying to learn the system. My hat's off to Coach Taylor though in what he's trying to do here. Hopefully the community, the decision makers and most importantly the kids give him a chance to build something here.

Who do you have making the playoffs in this district ?
Well to make sure I'm being transparent, below is what I previously posted on the first page of this topic. I had a little breakdown as to why as well but don't want to muddy up my reply to you here.
3A - District 23
1. Crockett
2. Coldspring
3. New Waverly
4. Tarkington
5. Trinity
6. Anderson
7. Shepherd
8. Onalaska
That being said below is my new predictions now that the coaching spots are now being filled and vacated I suppose.
3A - District 23
1. Crockett
2. Coldspring
3. Tarkington (I see Tarkington splitting with Coldspring this year but still landing at 3)
4. Anderson-Shiro
5. New Waverly
6. Trinity
7. Shepherd
8. Onalaska

Who is your team? Tarkington Longhorns
How have they done compared to your offseason expectations? Better than expected coming off one of the worst seasons I've ever watched in my life
What has been a positive? Offensively they have had some big plays, but more importantly they've had some long sustaining drives. Defensively they have played pretty well overall and the DC has made some good adjustments. Best positive so far is the fire and determination these kids have shown. Reflection of their AD for sure.
What has been a negative? Passing game is still not good enough to fight off 8-9 in the box if a team decides to do so. Quarterbacks aren't really seeing kids open, just winging to a predetermined receiver. Defensively, tend to give up big plays and once district starts I feel like we are going to be undersized on our D-line.
What are your new expectations for the season? We are still so young that playoff talks seem a bit presumptuous, but I'm really hoping we can pull off enough wins to sneak in. It would be such a huge boost to these kid's confidence who have had to deal with so much turnover and negative talk for the past couple years.
