1. Top to bottom Silsbee swings the bat as well or better than any team I've seen so far this season, they can flat out hit. Their record proves they are a quality team. The Tigers played a much more difficult pre-season schedule this year than in the past and have done well. BC will have to get a great effort from Guidry and some much better defense than they have shown thus far. BC's pre-season schedule has not been an easy one either, they have played some outstanding teams as well. I have no doubt this one goes to the team that stays away from giving up a big inning and has the least errors. A win by either of these teams should not shock or surprise anyone who looks at the game objectively. Silsbee does have the luxury of throwing the whole staff if needed since this will be their only game this week. "All hands on deck." Looks like a matchup between Guidry (BC) and probably Powell (Silsbee). Both quality arms and both are coming off of good performances in their last outings. It's gonna be a good one, or at least I hope it is. Everyone wants to see this one played clean and error free so it can be settled on the field. Good luck to my friends in Silsbee. Hoping for the Cardinals to pull this one out. Save me a seat! Rake1

Better tighten it up !
Everytime BC plays a close game or loses you hear this  ::)
What's your point? Instead of saying how great the win was an honest fan makes a real statement without looking through rose colored glasses like many others do. Not real sure what else you want him to say.....? Rake1
 4. WOS loses a tough one last night after outhitting HF and sqaundering a 12 strikeout 3 hitter by Anderson. Have to tip your cap to HF for taking advantage of WOS miscues and finding a way to win. Rake1
 5.
Exactly so why would you consider that a hit. Buna was home team so we scored it an error. That's official
Wow?? When is the last time anybody ever went to the home scorekeeper and asked "was that a hit?" ;) I've seen questions about score, substitutions, counts, and even pitch counts in little league but never saw anyone go to the "official scorekeeper" and get an "official ruling" on hit or error. 6.
Rake1 and Critter I'm assuming you have sons that play or you were a player yourself. Ask yourself this would your son or yourself in high school made that play? I think I know the answer to that!
I can't speak for Critter but I can say I fall into both catagories. I honestly believe the outfielder last night probably makes that play from time to time, unfortunately last night he didn't and the way it gets scored is the way it gets scored. We have all seen MLB guys get turned around and not make a play that perhaps they make on other occasions, it happens, and it gets scored accordingly. That's the great thing about baseball, it all evens out in the long run. A ball that is absolutely hammered right at a guy gets caught and another one not hit nearly as well finds a hole, gets lost in the lights, or goes over a guys head. Tell me Franchiseball how many times have you ever questioned or been questioned by someone else about if a hit was a hit or was it an error? Happens every game, I hear it from plenty of really knowledgeable baseball folks. MLB official scorekeepers often go back and change their own decisions during a game or even after completion because it's "their judgement" and right to do so. On a "judgement" or "subjective" call you will never get a 100% agreement from everyone.  Either way it all comes out in the wash. Rake1

Would you like for him to make that catch, sure, but it's not a normal play and required more effort. If you want to point to one that should've been caught and was scored a hit you can look at the ball that was lost in the lights by the centerfielder and rightfielder, nobody touched the ball, it's also scored a hit. In the "sarcastic" example of the fielder with a glove on his head and the ball through his legs, yes that's an error. Just remember the "magic" words "in the scorer's judgement" and "ordinary effort". Let me know if I need to type slower so you can follow.  8) Rake1
I think what you read from the "mlb rules" is exactly what 643 was saying
Like I stated earlier, I agree with the example of the ball through the fielders legs. I also gave the reason why the ball hit to left that was not caught is scored a hit and not considered an error. Rake1

As nice as all the improvements are to Silsbee's baseball field I just knew y'all would build a "cadillac" press box and not one that looks like a snow cone stand! It's probably a disguise, y'all have a half a dozen big screens in there with the MLB package playing along cold beverages and hot food more than likely. The rest of us "common folk" will never know unless you give us the password to enter or put our name on the list with the doorman! Either way, if I come to the window and knock will you make me a small rainbow snowcone? ;D Seriously though the new stuff that's been done at the field is nice, good place to see a game. Rake1
Yes, I agree that Nederland is clearly above the rest as it stands now. And Central is Central but hopefully they will take steps in the right direction this season. Six days and counting!
This statement should read.... PNG has underperformed IMO but as long as Ledoux continues rolling then this team should win just about every game he throws in. Rake1
Na, I'm going to stick with my previous statement. Clearly Ledoux is already rolling right now and the Indians have been great with him on the bump. But that being said, (depending on how your schedule falls) having a 1-2 you can throw out there and be the favorite every night is the key in district play. I picked PNG to win district this year back in January and if Ashworth can get on a roll (and if Ledoux can continue doing what he has done) I think there is a good chance this team could give Nederland a run for the 20-4A title.
Stick with your statement, no problem, I'll stick with the numbers from last year and the current season which firmly establishes who is the #1. Regardless who "you think" is the #1 is they are both quality arms. Rake1

But if silsbee had there pitcher rested like they will be in district play. Silsbee can compete for 1st in district
Incorrect statement!! BC's Bryce Sampere hit a 3 run HR off of Silsbee's starter before he was pulled, BC took a 4-3 lead at that point. Silsbee's starter had done a good job keeping BC off balance but once the Cardinals saw him for the 2nd time that's when the game turned. It did get out of hand once Silsbee ran out of pitching. One thing to remember also is that BC threw a complete game with the #4 pitcher and he did a number on the Silsbee bats after giving up 3 early. Biggest difference right now is pitching depth, Silsbee is trying to get over some injuries and BC is really deep on the hill. These 2 teams will certainly play some exciting baseball against one another this year, especially if both teams are at full strength. Rake1
Rake, If you think that Silsbee wasn't still in that game down 4-3 when the decision was made to pull the starter then you are sadly mistaken.  You make the statement that the second time through the order that the game turned????  Not so sure I agree but keep in mind that the starter was at 93 pitches total for the day and had about 40 minutes from the last pitch of the Lumberton game until he threw the first pitch against BC.
I guess my statement above was either written wrong or misunderstood, not sure which? I don't believe I said anywhere in a previous statement, or implied, that Silsbee was out of the game? If that's the way it was perceived then I apologize. I do believe the momentum shifted about the same time the starter had reached his pitch limit for the day. The home run, subsequent lead change, lack of available arms, and high pitch count was just a bad combination. Silsbee's starter was behind the 8 ball when he started the BC game after having to close the game before and then sit, I agree 100% with that statement! In discussions with my friends from Silsbee this was the concensus among everyone but he was without a doubt the best available pitcher. For 3 plus innings he threw a great game, as I mentioned already above. There was no slight or disrespect intended, if it came off that way, again, I apologize. IMHO I think the games between BC and Silsbee this year will be very equal and entertaining. Respectfully, Rake1

The main reason I posted a response about Silsbee beating BC is because someone said they have the bats... Just posting that It doesn't matter who Silsbee pitched, their pitcher didn't hurt their bats. And their bats couldn't get it going against BC's #4.... I am sure Silsbee will get a dose of Guidry come district time.
Make no mistake!! Silsbee can swing it! They are the best hitting team in the district that I have seen so far, period. They have good athletes throughout their lineup and have the potential to turn any fastball around and lose it. Whoever plays them will certainly need to bring their A game every inning. Rake1

I would however like to add that some of these guys like Guidry are already throwing against some top notch programs and having success. And by the way if we want to compare summer innings Guidry wins that one also since he lit it up at East Cobb with the Sundevils. More studs moving in this year to replenish what they lost. I think Silsbee will give them a fun game as usual and have a chance, but I dont see anyone taking the district crown from them. As for third I dont know if Buna can do it after losing those players. HF has a bunch of good returning players, and with Duplant, likely the best pitcher in the district ahead of Guidry, back at HJ you have to think they have a shot. Just an observation. Not saying the talent isn't there but let's be a little more objective how about it? Rake1
 23. This was a 2-0 game going into the 7th inning, much closer than final would lead you to believe. WOS started Anderson and he shut down LCM thru 3. Daniel Woodson pitched the next few innings for WOS and did well also. The Mustangs finished with Lebouef, and Grant Anderson. LCM scored their first 2 runs on passed balls. Swan, Humphrey, Roddy, and Wendt all threw for LCM. Mustangs managed 3 hits while the Bears had 4. An 8 run 7th inning was courtesy of walks, passed balls and 1 timely hit for the Bears. Each team was obviously being careful with pitching since they each have tournaments starting Thursday. Rake1
