Yeah right! They spanked y'all in the scrimmage and now u assuming they gonna beat us....LMAO
I saw with my own eyes Kirbyville scrimmage Deweyville and Hamshire-Fannett. Kirbyville did not look as good against those teams as East Chambers did against Silsbee. I think most intelligent folks will tell you Silsbee is a far better team than HF and Deweyville. East Chambers will beat Kirbyville. Want to bet another $100 just on that game?
Bueller?  Bueller? Bueller? Kvillecats? (Insert crickets chirping.........) Anybody out there????
 2. After 2 full quarters it's still 0-0. BC had 1st and goal and did not convert. Fumbled snap cost them 8 yards. Not much to get excited about for either squad. Rake1
 3. After 1 qtr it's 0-0 in live play. BC stalled out on a penalty in the red zone and missed a FG. 2nd qtr of live play about to start. Rake1
 4. After 2 offensive series each, 1st team and 2nd team, Woodville 1 BC 0. Both series were controlled. Looks like they are going to play game situation complete with kicking game now. Rake1
 5. BC offense stalls without scoring. Woodville scores on a nice scramble by their QB after all his receivers were covered. Rake1
 6. BC defense holds after giving up a long pass. Woodville stopped at BC 20. BC offense moving well, Faulk completes a few nice passes and Ashton Hunter running hard. Rake1
 7. Bridge City will certainly come to play, no doubt. Yes, they graduated some exceptional athletes from an outstanding class but they also return some really good players that most folks outside of Bridge City have necer heard of. Having such a talented group graduate is both a blessing and a curse, the curse is that they are gone and the blessing is that no other team cannot point to any players and say "if we stop that guy we win" because nobody knows who those guys are yet. BC should be really balanced in their attack between pass and run. They have some real talent in the backfield and certainly have the potential to surprise a lot of folks who have written them off. The underclassmen that are now varsity guys have been very successful the last 2 years and they should continue that trend. The BC defense that was #1 in the district last year will again be tough. No they are not full of D1 prospects but the Def Coord does a great job using the athletes available to combat most offensive schemes. For the BC faithful it's a scary time because the product on the field is mostly unproven at the varsity level but this group will be a pleasant surprise once the big lights on Friday night come on for real. Patience will be key as the Cardinals open the season with a very tough Newton team and another ultra tough opponent in Vidor the following week. Both games will be real tests for the "new look" Cardinals but they will also help prepare them for the 21-3A District race. I may be way off base but I think when it's all said and done this team will be just fine. Rake1
 8. 21-3A will be really fun to watch this year for sure! Here are a few observations that I'm sure will spur some great debate. 1. WOS- This years defense may be one of the best units they've had in 10 years or more. Lots of D1 caliber athletes with a ton of varrsity experience under their belts. This group can flat out run and will keep WOS in every game. Offensively they need to find a running back to replace Lindsey. Salter will be a stable and capable signal caller who will carry much of the load. 2. Silsbee- A very athletic team that will feature a pair of weapons on offense in Reed and Spearman. Not sure how bad graduation hurt them but if I'm not mistaken their JV won district last season and will certainly help the varsity reload with athletes. Defensively the linebacking crew will pace the Tigers. This team needs to watch everyone in the district and not be so caught up with WOS that they let a close game slip away. If they play to their capability they could certainly contend for the top spot. They are a playoff team for sure. 3. BC- Most have written BC off after losing an outstanding group of seniors last year but that should not be the case. BC returns a deep class of seniors and some very capable juniors in skill positions. Zach Cole will lead a good group of linebackers and the secondary will also be a strength with several returning lettermen. Offensively Daniel Faulk will take over at QB and lead a talented backfield that will feature a pair of junior running backs who are big and athletic. Ball control and solid defense will be the key for BC. It may shock some folks but don't be surprised if BC finishes higher than 3rd. 4. OF- With the addition of Coach Smalley the Bobcats just got more interesting! Offensively they will still give opposing defenses fits with that elusive running game that they execute to perfection and one can be sure Smalley will let the Bobcats air it out a little more. The addition of the passing game will cause more defenses to at least honor the pass and not stack up the middle which should open up more room to run. The Bobcats could be a contender with a break here or there. 5. HF- Always has the athletes to play with anyone but consistency has been their downfall as of late. Flashes of great play followed by prolonged periods of mediocrity tends to put the Longhorns behind the 8 ball. HF will return some quality players but depth will be an issue. The Longhorns are not a team to take lightly. 5a. Buna- Don't know a whole lot about Buna except they should not be taken as a pushover because they came from 2A, no way. This team is poised to be the biggest surprise of the season and will surely use the "they don't respect us" mentality to get hyped up for every Friday night. Buna proved last year that they could play with a couple of quality wins against 3A opponents. This team will help turn the district playoff race upside down. 6. HJ- Could be another long season for the Hawks. A good class of young players may be on the horizon. Better days are ahead, just  not now. Good luck to all the teams. Wish each and every player a safe and productive season. Rake1
 9. [img][Hidden Content]] Someone on this board is guilty of flagrantly padding post totals!!! I wonder who...................? Rake1
 10. Goodness gracious! Slow down before someone on this forum gives him the heisman or annoints him ruler of a small 3rd world country! 8) Give the young man a chance before the burden of "stardom" kicks in. High expectations from too many people put way too much pressure on young athletes. Let this young man enjoy what he earns and let us enjoy watching him play. Rake1
 11.
Two QB`S.  Wow, thats like having Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow on the same team.  Last year Chase Rutledge was SCARY GOOD".  "Jimmy Salter is undefeated in district the last two years.  And the problems just get bigger and bigger for "THE TEAMS"  that WOS will play this year.
Please define Scary Good?? Certainly agree potential is there, but Salter is a proven winner. Biggest concern has to be replacing Lindsey. Stangs need a big time playoff run this year,(cupboard gets thin after this class graduates) loaded with Senior talent that has been playing at a really high level for several years. Defense will be ridiculously good and faster than any opposing coach could dream of. If they find a running back it could be ugly for the opposition. Rake1
 12.
Why do people have to stir up crud over youth sports? Both wos and BC have great teams in Jr.high! They are 13-14 year old young men who give their all ! That's why we are there...to support them! Win or lose! Was it nice to see BC win last year? YES!  But wos never gives up! In my opinion after 12plus years in BC youth football...that's why BC is better!! Teams like wos showing us to never give up! Also all of our transplant wos dads who have taught that wos tradition to BC football! And yes I'm ready for some 8th grade football this year!  Go BC!            Thanks,  RoyAdams
Great post! Really nice to have good conversation with other fans without it turning into something foolish. Rake1
 13. Congrats Admin Babe Ruth on the league championship!! And also thanks for all you do with keeping us informed with all the great things that go on in the Babe Ruth league. It's a special place that true baseball people appreciate. Congrats again! Rake1
 14.
So, if y'all had converted for two, you would have squeaked out a tie?  I stand corrected. Difference here is I never made over the top false claims like you have done repeatedly about the game. I gave a score and FACTUAL INFORMATION. No over hype. So Yes, you should stand corrected. Just admit that we won handily in 2011, and admit that if y'all hadn't gone to play Pop Warner in 2010, you would have likely lost to us then, too.  According to Webster: hand·i·ly (hnd-l, -dl-) adv. 1. In an easy manner. 2. In a convenient manner This does not describe the way you won the game. 22-20 is not handily.Admitting defeat to a game that was never played is just foolish, that's not going to happen here or anywhere else where competitive individuals are concerned. If not, we'll just have to agree to wait and see what happens when these two teams meet up again this year. Have no problems with this at all. I have already stated multiple times that these 2 teams will have some great games against one another in the future NO MATTER WHO WINS. No problems here giving props or acknowledging a victory or a loss in a manner that's respectful to all involved. Unlike some on this thread. Ok, who besides me and Rake is excited about seeing a little BC-WOS 8th grade football?
Excited about football in general. Several great athletes from Golden Triangle schools that will be fun to watch this year. My work here is done! Rake1
 15. You obviously were not there if you think the starters were pulled because that's nowhere close to the truth. You squeaked out a win for the first time over an opponent you never beat before, end of story. If you think it was more than that you are sadly mistaken. You continue to give an incredibly lopsided account of not only history but of that particular game. I have given BC credit for the win and having a very talented team. You on the other hand continue to spew half truths and "ultra homer" opinions that make you look nothing but foolish. You can go on trying to make the world believe your ridiculous account of the past seasons but in fact all you are doing is showing how obsessed you are with trying to become equal with WOS in some capacity. Your irrational rants and predictions will no doubt come back to bite you in the end. A 22-20 ballgame that was won on a missed conversion is nothing close to your account of the game and i still find it difficult to understand how you think WOS looked so bad. It's very plain to see you are incapable of having a rational conversation or giving respect where respect is due. It's fans like you who give others a bad name. For the last time, these are 2 very talented teams and they will be fun to watch in the coming years. Rake1
 16.
I was just asking if WOS was fielding a Pop Warner team or playing STJFL with a group of senior kids this year.  Sheesh.  No need to go all factual on me.  We were sad that our kids didn't get a chance to play y'all in the STJFL in 2010, because we lost a tough game in the semis to y'all in 2009, and it looked like 2010 was going to be our year.  Then y'all left the league to play what we thought was a soft competition in Pop Warner.  My beliefs were confirmed when this report came out and indicates, like I thought, that Pop Warner is for sissy boys.  Combine that with the fact that we went in to your house and put our feet up on your coffee table last fall, and I keep coming back to one thought... Who besides me is excited about some 8th grade WOS/BC football?
You have got to be kidding me!!! Really? Put your feet up on the coffee table, that is beyond hilarious!! You were scrambling for your life with 2 minutes to go if I remember correctly!! Winning by 3 Td's is putting your feet up, winning by 2 because of a misssed conversion is completely different. Final score of 22-20. You need to get down to the pharmacy and stock up on reality pills!! Between this thread and your insane prediction of BC varsity winning district lets every sane person on this site know you need some professional help. Unbelievable!!!!! Rake1
 17.
The bottom line is this.  We were the STJFL Senior Super Bowl Champions in 2010, and y'all were sub sectional regional semi-finalists in division 2 of the Eastern half of Pop Warner Youth Football in the Southeastern Division of the Eastern United States.  And then y'all came in second in your district in 7th grade football in 2011 to who?  The Cards. So.... are y'all going to play in Pop Warner or the STJFL this year?  It was either too hard over here or too hard over there.  Which was it?
Sounds like you should be happy that WOS was playing Pop Warner and giving you a chance to win a Super Bowl. Especially since you never beat WOS while they were in the STJFL. Yes BC beat WOS in 7th grade football and won district. As a matter of fact this has happened several times in the past. Only problem is that this has never translated into a win at the Varsity level. All time record 22-0 for WOS. So if winning a district title in 7th grade football somehow leads you to believe that you have "established dominance" or now have become an "equal rival" then you are sadly mistaken. Is it possible to build on the success this BC group is having, by all means it is and they should certainly strive for that success. Having this delusional opinion of greatness and trying to lead the world into believing that one team ran from another is so distorted and so far from the truth it's not even funny. Again, really nice try at stirring the pot without providing any facts. Enjoy the fantasy world in which you live. Oh wait, I almost forgot. A serious question. Why would an 8th grader play Pop Warner or STJFL when they are getting ready to play JR. High football this year? Rake1
 18.

What is BC record vs Wos on the High School level??
Belongs in High School Football Forum.  Lol. I'm just talking about how a group of WOS seniors fled BC and the STJFL in 2010 to play some agressive two-below in Pop Warner.
I guess you would be referring to the same group that had already won everything there was to win in the STJFL and moved on to attempt to conquer a new challenge. That would also be the same team that BC never beat while playing STJFL. Yep, sounds like WOS "fled" for their lives! Again, absolutely ridiculous!!! Weak attempt at stirring the pot. In order to be fair it should be noted BC did win against WOS in last years 7th grade game in front of a packed house. There was a huge crowd for a Jr. high game and it was very entertaining. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, both teams are talented and have some good football in their respective futures. Rake1
 19.
Two years ago, WOS formed a team of senior-aged kids to play Pop Warner instead of STJFL.  They wanted "to be able to advance further than just this area."  Now my suspicions are confirmed... They were looking for a place to where tackling is frowned upon.  The dregs of each city can form up as a Pop Warner team and prance about the gridiron on Saturdays when cartoons are over.  The truf is out.  WOS was scared of BC's senior team in 2010.  I said it then, and I repeat it now.  We chased them out of the STJFL and then took our championship.  Not convinced?  The same age group went at again last year in seventh grade.  Result?  BC hasn't lost a game in two years. Who's fired up about some eight grade BC-WOS in 2012 besides me?
Really simple way to put this in perspective, in head to head to matchups what's the record? ;D I bet mikelbene knows but won't tell......or will he? The ridiculous notion that WOS was "chased from STJFL" is comical. Both of these teams are really talented and there will be some knock down drag out games in the very near future for sure. And you can certainly rest assured that neither team is afraid of the other one and they will both bring their best games when they play. Rake1
 20.
I wonder why there aren't any PNG guys playing in the games.... and why there aren't any Silsbee underclass guys playing....Excited about watching some of these games! :)
Certainly some glaring omissions from the roster for both of these schools. Several surprises also. Congrats to those who will be playing, should be some good baseball. Rake1
 21.
Calling out kids individually for a loss is not cool.  These are high schoolers, working their tails off to represent themselves, their school, and their community.  This group of young men did just that, with class.  They represented SE Texas, and more specifically, Bridge City, with a class and style rarely seen in young men this age.  Rather than place blame on a particular player or their coach's failures, hold these players in high regard for the way they competed and represented our area.  Hats off to them! The reality is, only one team per year, finishes the year with a win.  The state champ.  To lose a game to arguably one of the best pitchers in the state is nothing to be ashamed of.  Furthermore, the BC hitters had a combined 10 strike outs, if I counted correctly.  Hard to put pressure on the opponents defense and pitching, when nearly half your outs in a game are K's.  Add to this the errors by BC defense, and there is plenty of blame to go around.  So please stop playing Monday morning quarterback on coaches decisions and who should or shouldn't have toed the mound that day.  Instead, tell the boys (all of them) that they had a heck of a run and congratulate them on a great season that gave many of us some great memories.
Great post!!! Very well said!! Rake1
 22.

I find it hilarious that you continue to make my points for me. BC had a clear enough advantage that the other team only wanted 1 game. If a team is good enough they are not going to take the chance of losing to an inferior opponent in a 1 gamer because we all know anything can happen. As a matter of fact Robinson wanted a 3 game series with China Spring and lost the flip so I guess your line of thinking may be wrong. You choose a 1 game if you can't win a series, I don't know how else to explain it to you and there aren't any emoticons for this situation so I guess you may never get it. I do agree with you that Robinson has a great shot at going back to Austin. I never said they were not a complete team, just not as complete as BC IMHO. Great season BC and good luck to Robinson. Rake1
Actually you've said they one dimensional, a one trick pony, and not a complete team. Also if anyone has an advantage pitching its Robinson. Robinson has the clear advantage with the #1s BC might have a slight advantage on #2s( that's a big maybe considering Robinson's top 2 are  both ranked as top 25 players and niether BC pitcher is) and after looking at the stats Robinson has the Advantage on #3s. BC's #3 has thrown all of 15 innings while Robinson's #3 has thrown close to 50 and just threw a 1 hitter vs Bullard. When was the last time BC's #3 even took the mound? And going back to last year all of the Robinson pitchers have better stats than thier counter parts as well.  As for why Robinson wanted a 3 gamer (if they actually did) its probably because they already beat CS twice. In that series they know they are clearly the better team. In the BC aeries it's not as clear(although I believe Robinson to be better) what is clear is that Hollingsworth is going to dominate the other team, and when you have an ace in the hole like that why wouldn't you use it? You're right that the better team will choose the 3 game series with they are playing an inferior team, but what does the coach do if he feels the teams are equal? In that situation I believe most coaches would put the season on the back of Hollingsworth.
Agree to disagree. Rake1
Why do you assume BC would win in a 3 game series? Robinson is the #1 team in the state. The odds were in Robinson's favor to advance either way.
No scientific explanation here and no way to prove the point but most folks who follow 3A baseball would lean towards BC having a deeper/better staff than Robinson and in a 3 game series it's usually (not all the time) the better team that wins. For example look at the Robinson vs Bullard series, it was all Robinson could do to get out of that round in a 3 gamer and Bullard's pitching staff isn't even close to BC's. If the odds "were in Robinson's favor" as you stated above why did they opt for a 1 game against BC like the Falcons did? Because they knew, just like Huffman did, that they couldn't beat BC 2 out of 3. The fact that Robinson had just thrown a no hitter and a 1 hitter in the Bullard series and still flipped BC for a 1 game says it all and that is "we want no part of BC in a 3 game series". Regardless of which team you were rooting for the saddest thing about the whole issue is that all the baseball fans who had been waiting for these two teams to meet up were deprived of watching #1 vs #2 slug it out for 3 games. That would have been awesome. BC had a great year for sure and has nothing to be ashamed of. Rake1
No. If I was Robinson and had probably the best pitcher in the state on my team I would flip for a 1 gamer every time. It has nothing to do with being scared of BC, they are just making the safe pick. Why risk a 3 game series when you can send a pitcher out there it is going to win a vast majority of time. The only reason the bullard series went 3 games is because of errors. Hollingsworth threw a no hitter in the 1st game and they still lost. Robinson pitching staff is pretty dang good they threw a no hitter and a 1 hitter in the 3rd round of the playoffs, maybe BC might be a bit deeper pitching wise, but not by much. Don't get me wrong BC is a great team and I listened to that game routing for them to win, but I believe Robinson is better. I think Robinson would of won the series regardless of it it was 1 game or 3 games. Btw BC fans, if every playoff series was a 1 gamer then BC would probably still be playing right now. Bullard would of advanced over Robinson and I think everyone would take BC over Bullard. So maybe yall should petition the state to make all the playoffs 1 gamers ::).
I love it when other people prove my point for me! Thanks very much! Robinson may have the best pitcher in the state but not the best team, hence the reason for flipping for 1 gamers. Oh and for your information in the no hitter against Bullard the Robinson squad only had 1 hit themselves so using the error excuse doesn't fly. Also lets not forget about the 3 batters Robinson hit during the no hitter as well. Sounds more like a "one trick pony" and not a complete team if you subscribe to that line of thinking which more times than not spells trouble at the state tournament. Seen it a hundred times, 1 big pitcher wins the semi final and then the next guy in line can't get it done against team that relies on the ENTIRE team. Rake1
How did I prove your point? Lol so now I guess if you have 1 great pitcher it means your not a complete team. Fact is any team that has Hollingsworth on thier team would choose a 1 gamer. Thats not because your not a complete team or they are scared ::), its because when you have a pitcher that dominate you ride him till you can't anymore. Trust me no team gets to 28-2 if they're not a complete team. And your  right Bullard did 1 hit Robinson( I guess those Bullard pitchers are better that you thought ;)). I wasn't trying to use the errors as an excuse I was just saying they lost after thier ace threw a no hitter and were able to come back and win against a 23 win team in the 3rd of the playoffs. That's not something you do unless you are a complete team. Btw Robinson went 31-6 and, they brought back 7 starters including all 3 pitchers and it looks like they could finish with better record this year. But yeah your right they are definitely a one trick pony ::)
Love the use of the emoticons! Incredibly effective at getting the point across. Now back to the debate. "One trick pony" or "one dimensional" it's all the same thing in my opinion. Ride the "one" pitcher you have and hope for help in the finals. When you get to Austin the best TEAM wins for a reason. Who knows? Maybe the teams that face off in the finals will both be in the same boat, out of pitching, and it becomes a summer league game with the score of 14-12. It's very simple, a deeper more complete team plays 3 games. Period. Now as for the Bullard pitchers are concerned Bullard didn't throw their #1 in the first game, he threw in the 2nd one. Then it was "johnny wholestaff" in the 3rd when they got destroyed. As for the 3 pitchers Robinson brought back compared to BC's trio  we saw the #1's go head to head. We also saw Robinson struggle with BC's #2 just like Huffman did. And to compare Robinson's #3 to BC's definitely goes in favor of BC. There's no doubt Robinson will stack up a big record and I will be the first to congratulate them if they do indeed win it all. I will also be one who believes that the path to Austin was decided more by the flip of a coin than by actions on the field. Rake1

Rake1
