Please don't encourage the behavior ;D. You can bet 99% of the good Silsbee fans (and there are lots of them) out there wish comments like the ones above would go away. Rake1

A guy puts his own honest opinon out there and gets this kind of response. Maybe this will put you in a better mood.... 1. HJ wins 21-3A  district title, shuts out everyone, and wins every game by 10 run rule. 2. HJ is so good all the other schools defer and they get the runner up spot as well. 3. HJ's JV sneaks in and takes 3rd place in district  completing the never before seen sweep. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D All in all just kidding! You need to ease up.

 4. Went to watch the first day of practice yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the number of players who were there for tryouts, good numbers. I have now figured out why the basketball program has struggled, all the kids with height are on the baseball field! The freshman class may possibly be able to put a starting 5 together and every player would be taller than the ones on the basketball team! Wow! Had some impressive showings by a few guys who have really matured since last year and they certainly have a bright future. Most all of the returning varsity players all look to be in great shape, you could tell they have worked over the fall and winter. I know a big group of them have been throwing for weeks in anticipation of the season starting, that will pay big dividends later. Overall the talent pool appears to be as deep as ever and the Cardinals hopefully won't skip a beat. Rake1
Definitely be a game worth watching.
Had a Babe Ruth game this summer where Guidry threw against Duplant and Norris from Westbrook. 7 inning game with 35 K's total!! It was ridiculous!! All I can say is don't get ahead of yourself, if it happens it happens. Gotta be on the team first and stay there before we can have a matchup. If it does happen it'll be a treat. Plenty of time before anyone of us will really know. Rake1

BC shooting themselves in the foot. CS returns a fumble 69 yards for first TD. Scores 2nd TD on short field. Last drive before half was impressive, 85 yards or so with good running game. BC's defense has actually played well and the Cardinals have certainly exposed CS secondary as they have thrown the ball when they had time. 4 passes for 20+ yards. The TD by CS before half hurt. Yeah we'll they have not given up any scores.  Also in the film with WOS they had few passing yards just a like.  WOS though did not give up any scores either though.
Secondary is vulnerable, just an observation. Calm down Francis. Rake1

Sarcasm hopefully. Most of the folks I know over there are worried that they are thinking too much about Silsbee and not enough about BC. WOS should beat BC as everyone expects, I'm not saying the Cardinals are a threat but it's very understandable for WOS to relax and look ahead which translates into a less than top notch performance. I know the WOS staff will do it's very best to keep that from happening but to say the Mustangs are not aware of their schedule or the big showdown with Silsbee is a BIG BIG BIG STRETCH! Rake1
 14.
Bridge city is lucky to win this game hardin Jefferson moved the ball all night but hurt themselves with turnovers and penalties on Bridge City and Bridge City's offense is one dimensional. Give it to #34. We will be west orange next shut out victim and then like ever year it will come down  to the orangefield game again for the 3rd spot. If I am not mistaken if Orangefield beats BUna that will eliminate Buna, so it will come down to the Orangefield Bridge city game. If Buna beats Orangefield and Orangefield beats Bridge City it will be a three way tie Buna, Orangefield Bridge City. And then I suppose it goes to the point differential between those three teams. Think Bridge City will have to put up alot of points to beat Orangefield unless Bridge City's defense learns how to tackle, there tackling was terrible last night and has been for most of the year. And as far aBridge City's offense their passing game is very weak.s  Number one the offensive line is very weak and the QB. doesnt have a lot of time to throw and two we dropped alot of passes las night. If it comes down to running game against running game I give the edge to Orangefield.
Last time I looked you have to score to win and HJ couldn't do it last night, even with some ridiculous calls against BC. Nobody cares how many yards you get it's all about points, that's why they call it a scoreboard. The Cardinals on offense were penalized on some terrible calls that shut down several drives. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think BC's first TD was a PASS and it did not involve #34. And also as far as tackling goes I think BC has done well enough lately to post consecutive shutouts and still controls their own fate in the playoff race. Those are 2 things HJ cannot say. Rake1
 15. Some of these replies never fail to entertain or amaze. I.......I.......I'm starting to feel a little..........a little bit queezy. The lights are dim in here aren't they? Can't ... Stop.... This... Thread......... I give up. Rake1
 16. Just wanted to be sure this thread at least said something about how well BC played instead of all the other stuff apparently going on at HF. BC played a very good game on both sides of the ball and it showed both on the field and the on the scoreboard. Running back Ashton Hunter carried most of the load while QB Daniel Faulk made plays with both his arm and running ability. The Cards D Coordinator dialed up a great plan which held the Longhorns to only 4 first downs and punctuated the night with a great goal line stand in the 2nd half. BC plays a very scrappy HJ this coming week. The Cardinals continue to control their own playoff fate with a district mark of 2-1. HF has a couple of really nice athletes on their team and could certainly play the spoiler for one of the playoff contenders in the district. It's only a matter of time before they put it all together. Rake1
 17. and he catches unicorns, and he eats lunch with the Dos Equis guy (most interesting man in the world), and he also taught Chuck Norris karate! EASE UP PEOPLE!! The kid is talented but let him breathe. Some of you make it seem like he walks around with a big axe and a blue ox like Paul Bunyan. Wow! The hype machine is in 6th gear! Sit back and enjoy the talent, don't press it. Rake1
 18. What 2A schools has Silsbee played this year? ???

Your only as good as your strength of schedule.. WO-S will be your true test. Beating up a 2A schools want get you there.
Officially 66 seconds before the predictable "hand slap and you have been put in your place reply"!!!!! Shame on Just A Dad for provoking the Silsbee wrath!!! Lol! My boy AAW never disappoints! Go Tigers! Rake1
 19. First of all congrats to Silsbee on the win, they were the better team and deserved the "W". To me you can sum up the game in two words "big plays". Silsbee fumbles opening snap resulting in a BC score, Silsbee breaks a 44yd run for a score, BC runs back a kickoff, Silsbee scores on an 84 yd pass, BC fumbles a kickoff return, and so on. Neither team mounted an impressive offensive series where they drove the ball 70 or 80 yards on a 10 plus play drive, which in the grand scheme of things doesn't really matter (especially if you are Silsbee) if you score on 2 plays. Silsbee played on a short field most of the night and that spelled trouble for the BC defense. I'm not sure where this theory of BC kicking away from the Silsbee return guys came from? I guess if you shank 3 punts then you can call that kicking away from them but that's a stretch at best. Also if you look at BC for the last 3 to 4 years they kickoff to the same area almost religously, that's just how they set up, and yes it drives the fans nuts. One positive thing from last nights game for both teams is there were no injuries. BC really needed to keep everyone healthy, the last few weeks have been hard on the Cardinals. Going forward Silsbee will certainly welcome the bye week, you could tell the injured QB was not as explosive as he has been so the rest will help. For BC the real season will start next week with a trip to HF as the Cardinals try to stay in the hunt for the 3rd playoff spot with the rest of district 21-3A. Silsbee and WOS have virtually locked up playoff spots while the last spot is still up for grabs. The next few weeks will be crazy for sure. Again congrats to the Tigers on a well deserved the win.  Rake1
 20. Okay, rather than insert someone else's quote and stir everybody up (especially Silsbee fans) I'm going to just give a couple of observations. 1. On paper Silsbee should be the favorite and should win the game. 2. The game is not played on paper. 3. If both sides are completely healthy Silsbee has more weapons and speed. 4. If Silsbee is without Reed it's a much closer game than most predict. BC is no slouch, everyone had BC picked to lose by 40 against Jasper (final score 21-7) and Jasper is every bit as athletic as Silsbee is.  5. Without Reed the QB advantage goes to BC. The running backs are very similar and comparable. Silsbee gets the  nod as advantage on defense. With all that being said Silsbee has to be favored. Silsbee also has to stay focused or who knows what could happen? Looking past BC because they lost so much to graduation or because the Tigers have their eye on WOS could result in an upset of epic proportions. I don't look for that to happen, but I also don't look for a score of a kazillion to zero either. Before I pick a score I'm waiting to see who is healthy enough play for both sides. BC has some injury issues as well to deal with. Final prediction closer to game time. Rake1
 21.
Rake and 77, I could careless if I get your point or not. This is a message board, where people come and make crazy statements, do they mean everyoen of them no! but its fun to do, and to see what other people think,  stop being so sensetive. And if you wanna bet message my inbox, other-wise stop being old farts its all in fun.. Also Geaux Tigers WOS PLAYERS arent looking ahead those kids are focused on one game at a time, once again this is a message board were FANS post, so people please stop making it seem like these are the thoughts of WO- players. Im sure the kids in College could  care less about covering the spread, all they wanna do is win, but does that stop the bookies from taking bets?? NO
I rest my case! Thanks for clarifying your stance and lack of reason for all those who read this board. Rake1

 23.
Now those comments I made about shutting out the entire district look very real! After Bridge City's beatdown by Jasper the only team with a chance to score IMO Is silsbee. And I honestly think that won't happen to much speed for WOS defense. Also for the 6 board members who made bets with me I'll be at spankeys at 12 to collect this weeks payments like we all agreed. And for those interested here is the format. Teams such as HJ,Hamshire,Buna,Orangefield- have a standard bet of if they score a TD I. Owe you 50 bucks, if WOS shuts them out you owe me 30 bucks. Teams such as Bridge City, And Silsbee, is even money they score you ow me 50 and vic verse. 1st and 2nd round playoff teams- if they score I owe you 30, if a shutout happns you owe me 50. 3rd round and beyond- if wos keeps them under 10 points you owe me 50 bucks, if not I owe you 50 bucks, BUT if WOS keeps them from scoring a TD you owe me 100 bucks! Like I said before anybody is welcomed to join in, I already have collected from six pre-district non-believers
It's quotes and statements like this in a public forum that make sane/rational Mustang fans cringe. Instead of celebrating the accomplishments of a potentially great team an irresponsible fan decides to take a rather classless approach at glorification. I may be wrong, correct me if I am, but I don't remember other teams in other sports who dominate their competition making proclamations/predictions like the one above. Just not a smart thing to do in my opinion, and that's just an opinion. The main thing to remember like Skipper said is these are high school kids and anything can happen on Friday nights. With all that being said it seems more appropriate to watch and enjoy this talented team (because they are very talented) rather than put a bullseye on them or make them disliked due to misguided fan enthusiasm. Respectfully Rake1
 24.
Been hearing a lot of blaming here lately. People need to realize most of these BC players are basically freshman after all the four year starting graduates that just left. The stands in Buna had some characters that is for sure
You would be surprised if you check a program, BC is far from a bunch of Freshmen. Only 2 sophs on the team and 1 is a kicker. Lots of Seniors but mainly Juniors make up this years team. Not sure about the "blaming" or anything like that, losing or being behind always makes that worse than it really is. Let BC get to the district portion of their schedule and they should be okay. Outstanding defensive effort tonite, most predictions had Jasper scoring at will, runnning up 50 points and so on. Jasper was just as dominant on Defense as well, held BC to 60-70 yards of offense. Don't get me wrong, Jasper was the better team and deserved to win by all means. BC just brought a little more tonite than Jasper may have expected. Bad thing for BC besides losing the game is the injury bug bit the Cardinals bad tonite and that will certainly hurt them against Silsbee next week. Rake1
