Basketball on grass is not working out for your guys...the only difference between the stump's is the one at west brook knew when to get out. Can't run that offense without skill kids, hometown boy with very little athleticism  showed that.
I agree tupac7, the 2 back offense has been the best weapon for BC this year. Not sure why they don't run it more often, it opens up the passing game as well.
 3.
If BC is going to win a game this year, this will be the one shot to do it.  If they lose this, they could go 0-10.  Worst team in a while.  Other than Stumps other 0-10 team.  Can't tackle, and can't run that garbage spread offense.
Not sure what games you have been watching? And predicting 0-10 is just stirring the pot. BC will be fine when district rolls around. They just played 2 very very solid pre district opponents, one that's a top 3 team in their class in the state and another that could very well be the favorite to win 20-4A and go really deep in the playoffs. Mighty tough to draw a conclusion after those games don't ya think? I agree they should scrap the spread because they have 2 really good Junior running backs that can get the job done. Their defense will be the key and I believe the D-Coordinator will get that straightened out soon. I hope you, sball124, are around when the season ends and not hiding in the shadows throwing rocks like you are now because it will be nice to ask you "how would you like your crow?"
I don't remember it going for 62 yards, but it did check up and stop on BC 2 yard line.  It was a thing of beauty.
BC not having anyone back to receive the punt didn't hurt either. 5. #34 is a Junior named Ashton Hunter. He's a good one for sure. Rake1
 6. Congrats to Vidor on the win. Really good team for sure. Good luck to y'all during the rest of the season and playoffs. To BC, Keep your heads up, that was an awful tough team you just squared off with. A tough way to follow a really good Newton team, brutal 2 weeks for sure. Be proud you didn't quit, put this one behind you, and go to work on next week. Rake1
 7. Matthews is certainly all class! Great guy for sure, talked to him before the game. Chooses to run time off the clock and not try for another TD. Kicks field goal instead. Rake1
 8. Wow!! I haven't seen a team go after another defense so low in a long time. Vidor constantly diving at backs in the secondary and LB's below the thighs. Its been less than friendly. Pushing and shoving on every play after the whistle. Rake
 9. Vidor runs that 6 play offense to perfection, they are as advertised. Will say this going forward, they need help defending the pass. BC dropped one in the end zone and SPOILED THE PREDICTED SHUTOUT with another. BC's 2 back offense has shown signs of life but so far Quirante and company have converted when they needed and exploited the plays they should. Also there is a ton of extra curricular activity after the whistle! Lots of trash talk, both ways. Hats off to Vidor, they are a load for sure. BC still getting after it and will certainly keep going until its over. Need 2 more injury free quarters for both sides. Rake1
 10. BC JV    36 Vidor JV.  8 BC made it look easy. Rake 1
 11.
It might just be my head swelling but the closer it gets to kick-off time the more i think we are really going to put a woopin on BC. expect Vidor to score fast and frequent in this!!
Advil, Tylenol, and Aleeve along with cold compresses or ice are great ways to combat swelling. (On a serious note good luck and safe travels to all tonite) Rake1
 12. Well let's recap so far: "BC must see the whipping coming" "Expect Vidor to score quick and often" "In the immortal words of Clubber Lang, my prediction for this one is: Pain!  (for BC)" I guess BC will just show up and wave the white flag since they obviously have no chance against "the perennial playoff powerhouse"  ::) ::) that some would lead you to believe Vidor actually has become. As I stated in my earlier post I pick Vidor to win because they are very good. But by some "miracle" if BC makes it closer than expected or heaven forbid by some act of the almighty they actually win......... I obviously don't think BC will win but the noise coming from Vidor makes it hard not to hope for the upset. Vidor 35 BC    14 Rake1
 13. Vidor is the real deal and the Cardinals will certainly have their hands full. I don't think Vidor "pitches a shutout" in this one as many have predicted. This same Vidor squad beat a very talented BC team last year in a monsoon that played right into the Pirates hands, absolutely made the passing game an afterthought. If BC can execute their offense and not turn the ball over they can keep the score respectable, if not it could be a really really long night for BC. I look for Vidor to have long time consuming drives and really doing a number on time of possession, not the breakaway speed burners BC saw last week in Newton. Vidors depth will be a factor late in the game also. Just too much for the Cardinals to overcome. (secretly hoping for a BC win but also being a realist) Vidor-35 BC    -14 Rake1
 14.
Newton was playing a lot of sophomores and you could see them getting more confidence and playing better as the game went on. Still made quite a few sophomore mistakes. Newton could be really good later in the season. Bridge City played hard with gang tackling and ball pursuit. Drove the ball down the field several times, just couldn't get it in the endzone. Game in second half was closer than the score showed.
Newton certainly deserved the win last night, lots of talent. Just like ChampionEagles said it was closer than the scoreboard reflected. The fumbled punt by BC was the momentum killer, the Eagles took advantage and took off after that, literally! Lol! Lots of speed in Newton! Congrats on the win. BC will get better. Rake1
 15. Newton's speed was impressive no doubt but BC physically pushed them around. BC also had a TD called back, a dropped TD in the end zone on a play where no Eagle was within 10 yards of the receiver (great call-fooled everyone)  and a fumbled punt after a great defensive stand which let Newton score on the following play ( a 2 TD swing and real momentum killer) Newton was the better team last night and they deserved the win, lots of talent, but they got a lot of help from BC as well but that's part of the game. The bright side for BC is that they looked really good running the ball from a 2 back formation when they got away from the spread. Hopefully they use that more in the future because it was very successful. The biggest disappointment by far was the tackling by BC, several times they stood the Newton backs up at the line and instead of putting them on the ground they continued to try and strip the ball. The whole time they were trying to strip the ball the really good backs from Newton kept running and once they broke from the pile and made it a foot race it was over because they are FAST. Congrats to Newton on the win and good luck during the rest of your season. The Cardinals are a much better team than the scoreboard showed last night and will fine once district begins. Rake1
 16. Nobody really giving a BC a chance? The Cardinals certainly have enough talent to "surprise" the naysayers. The Senior class and Junior class have been very successful for Bridge City and there is no reason to believe they can't continue that trend. This early season test with a very good Newton team will provide a great measuring stick for the Cardinals and others to judge where this team really stacks up. For all of those who haven't seen this years team,or don't know any of the players like the hometown fans do, you may be surprised by what you see. You may also be right in saying "graduation hurt them and they aren't that good", we will soon find out. Here's hoping the Cardinals surprise the rest of the area. Looking for BC to win a close and well played game. Good luck to all and safe travels. Rake1

The point is that the Mexican radio broadcast from Orange doesn't include Vidor as part of Orange County. Vidor is the largest school in the OC yet here we go being dissed again by the local media. I equate them with the Beaumont Rag as far as their ability to report anything sports related. Considering our fans loyalty, I believe they would get more listeners from Vidor than the other schools COMBINED. I'll stick to the Vidorian and PA News.....
Well, there are a couple of definite reasons that KOGT does not broadcast Vidor games and another possible reason.  First, no entity, not KOGT, not SETXsports, not Legacy Sports Network, not any other broadcast entity will be allowed to broadcst Vidor ballgames because it is my understanding that Vidor ISD is in the second year of an exclusive contract with some UHF station that operates out of Vidor that broadcasts the game tape delay or sells CD's of the game.  Second, as has been previously noted, KOGT's signal does not reach Vidor at night.  Heck it barely makes it to McLewis at night.  Why in the world would Gary conduct a broadcast for a high school that if someone turned the radio on at the high school they couldn't get the game!?  That makes no sense. And finally,  I can tell you frrom first hand experience that sponsorship from Vidor for Vidor broadcasts has been a problem.  In fact, the last year that SETXsports broadcasted Vidor in the regular season, we were able to get one person to sponsor Vidor broadcasts (and that was with a very high placed member of the Vidor ISD school board assisting us).  Further, when we were able to gain the rights to the Vidor playoff broadcasts (after first being told "no" by the Vidor ISD superintendent), we attempted on this board and in other internet places to gain sponsorship on Vidor broadcasts.  Despite the fact that I KNOW that there are Vidor business owners or Vidor residents who own businesses in Beaumont, THERE WAS NOT ONE ENTITY OR PERSON WHO STEPPED UP TO SPONSOR THE BROADCASTS.  Now, as you know, we did them anyway, and for one of those games had to fight pretty doggone with the venue to be able to do it.  But we enjoyed doing the playoff games and we were willing to eat the costs involved.  However, KOGT is not Gary Stelly's hobby like it is for many here....it is how he feeds his family and how he pays his bills, which include paying at least 12 folks who work at KOGT to support their families.  When he undertakes something like this, sponsorship is a must and if he has encountered the same reception we have in that regard, I know why he doesn't do Vidor broadcasts. It is not like he disses Vidor.  He had article after article about last year's Pirates, from the untimely passing of Matt Thomas to the run through the playoffs.  In fact, one of the biggest articles he has published on KOGT.com during this preseason was about Coach Mathews. Someone owes this man an apology.
I'm glad you brought all of this out WOSgrad. Perhaps somewhere in YOUR ORIGINAL statement you could have mentioned those issues you listed in this dissertation. Your apparent zest in not listing Vidor as part of Orange County was what brought about the indignation, something you have relished in the past. My apologies to the KOGT staff (however, just because you wrote doesn't mean it's true) and Gary Stelly.
Those 3 words, "your apparent zest", should be aimed at yourself (robanadana) and not at WOSgrad. YOU jumped on the wagon and pointed the fingers at KOGT before you had all the facts, now that the light has been shed on the subject and you see exactly how it all went down you can certainly see where the apology is in order. 18. With the forecast showing a good deal of rain in our near future how do you think it will affect your team? I know several teams will play on turf so it won't matter. For those who play on grass or are really dependant on running outside or airing it out via the pass it could change a gameplan or two. Rake1

They had to incomplete passes against Buna and one of them was an over thrown ball by the sophmore back up quarterback and the other was a dropped pass by one of the young recievers other than that they threw and caught the ball really well. Not sure what you were seeing. You are in for a rude awakening if you think kville will beat Newton yall are the ones without a passing game you still don't have a quarterback who can throw a good pass over ten yards.
Just out of curiosity, and with absolutely no disrespect meant to Newton, how did the passing game go in your scrimmage against Buna? I saw in a previous thread that Newton only attempted 8 passes against Silsbee and completed 2. BC is adjusting to a new team without some key players from last year. So far they appear to be a balanced attack between passing and running. The defense is certainly holding their own so far as well. BC knows they will have their hands full with Newtons rushing attack, no doubt. Newton will also have their hands full with BC's balanced attack that will force Newton to respect both the pass and the run. If Newton is one dimensional and does not pass enough to keep BC from stacking the box it may be a smashmouth kind of night. BC must keep turnovers down and finish drives if they want to pick up a win. This has the potential to be a really good one. Looking forward to seeing the backs from Newton that are so highly touted, they will surely be a tough test. Hoping for a BC win    27-21 Rake1

Sounds like Newton has solid threats both rushing and passing. I only saw the stats from the first scrimmage and obviously those were a little misleading if they threw the ball well against Buna in the 2nd scrimmage. Looking forward to a good game. Rake1
 21.
Newton, 21-13. BC will compete well and keep it close. I think a late score seperates this one. Why would anyone take you serious this time? Lol
Hopefully this is meant for Kville.....? I certainly never implied anything like this. I was simply and respectfully asking how Newton did in their 2nd scrimmage, nothing more. Rake1

 23.
Latest GFS model has the storm making land fall just east of Sabine Pass early Thursday morning. [Hidden Content]
At the time I am posting this I have looked at over 20 weather sites and have not found anything except the above site that has Isaac heading for Texas. Almost every one of the sites has a New Orleans/Mississippi landfall. The only thing that really concerns me is the National Weather Service has predicted slower Northerly movement in the next few days, this would help strengthen the storm and also make it tougher to predict landfall. We all know how unpredictable these storms are, hopefully it doesn't do much if any damage wherever it lands and also spares us for Week "0". Rake1
 24. Is the player from Woodville who was shaken up on the last play of the scrimmage okay? He got caught up when the BC running back reversed field, he turned to pursue, and a BC blocker (the quarterback) absolutely blind sided him. Rake1
 25.
Both teams looked good at times, and bad at times. Offensively, Woodville just shoved it down BC's throat and out-coached them. The talent is there. Great depth in the backfield, a line that improves every week, and one of the best 2-QB systems in the area. On the other hand, for the second week in a row, mental errors killed the Eagles, but we're much more limited this week. Woodville pulled out the win and is beginning to show a lot of promise. Defensively, the Eagles were aggressive and seemed to tackle a lot better this week. Secondary played exceptionally well. Linebackers should be improved when Harrison makes his return sometime soon. Defensive line was much more aggressive. They were undersized in this match-up and still seemed to use their quickness too their advantage. Improved as well is week. Bridge City kinda disappointed me this week. I expected a lot more. But they also showed a lot of promise. Offensively, they weren't near aggressive enough on the line. This isn't the NFL. Position blocking only gets you so far. Especially against a quicker, well-coached defensive line like Woodville's. The QB for Bridge City seems to be a decent replacement for Menard and is a heck of an athlete. The backfield was deep and the running back position and the receivers had pretty good hands and ran good routes. Speed was the difference offensively for the Cardinals. Woodville was faster in their secondary and it proved to be the deciding factor. Defensively, the Cards were very aggressive, overly aggressive at times. Woodville beat them on a well-called dump-off to the tightend that went for about 40 yards. Discipline was lacking. The technique and size on the defensive line was obviously there. Their line was the strength of their defense. Speed in the secondary, or lack there of, and discipline on the defensive side of the ball, proved crucial to this match-up. Overall, it was a pretty evenly-matched tune-up. Both teams had momentum and highlights at times. Woodville was just more successful in the red-zone, whereas Bridge City just seemed to not be able to finish drives at all. But a good measuring stick for both teams.
Wow??? Must have been a looked a lot different from that side of the field..... To say that Woodville shoved it down BC's throat is quite a stretch, and that's being nice. "More successful in the red zone?" How do you figure that one? A scramble by the QB against the 2nd team defense in the controlled portion of the scrimmage was the only score all night, and it was a very nice play by that young man for sure. One long pass for the other "semi highlight" and that's about it. BC ran the ball very well, make no mistake about that. A fumble from the Wildcat formation inside the Woodville 5yd line cost BC a Touchdown and they also dropped another pass to a wide open receiver in the endzone. Woodville was the beneficiary of BC miscues for sure. As far as speed goes correct me if I'm wrong but didn't BC have a LB run down an Eagle tailback from behind when he should have scored? Sure looked like it. Now I will certainly give credit where it's due and say Woodville played a great game/scrimmage. They appeared to be well conditioned, disciplined and coached. I personally liked the enthusiasm that the Woodville coaches showed, good stuff for sure. Woodville has some good athletes and they ran both their Offense and Defense very smooth. The Eagles will certainly be in a position to contend every Friday night. BC on the other hand did not play as well as they did against Lumberton, anybody who says they did is not being honest. The Cardinals certainly have some things to work on before they head for Newton on Friday. Offensively they are on the right pace with a balanced attack between running and passing. Execution is the most critical part for them, cut down penalties and hold on to the ball. Defensively they must tackle better! Way too much grabbing and trying to strip the ball, not enough "putting the hat" on people. The next 2 weeks will be tough for BC as they take on 2 good teams in Newton and Vidor. Hopefully this scrimmage was a wake up call. Rake1
