  1. I was fortunate enough to watch Evan Powell during some prospect workouts and he is an incredible talent and a really nice young man. The GTB organization should be proud of him and for him. As far as him coming from Louisiana let me ask you this ESPN, is everybody who plays for the Dallas Cowboys from Dallas??? Always proof read your post before you send it, keeps you from looking foolish. No charge for the advice.
  2. Just wanted to say congratulations on a tremendous run through the all star tournaments to the PNG 13's. This team had a great group of both kids and coaches, they should be proud of their accomplishments this year even though they came up just short of the ultimate goal. An outstanding group of ball players to say the least, the future is really bright for PNG baseball. Nice Job guys, you represented our area well and made us proud.
  3. Congrats to the 13's on a ridiculously good run through this tournament! So far it sounds like everything you guys had hoped for has happened including a huge coaching blunder by Baytown!! It seems like they may have underestimated you guys and now it appears they will pay for that one!! Please update ASAP the score and tournament bracket.
  4. Okay Games 24x7 let's get something straight, not once have I wished you or your team anything bad or as you call it "hatin". If you scroll back through this thread you will see I have actually wished you nothing but success. I never made a personal attack on you or the team so I'm not real sure where you are going with this? The personal attacks on me in your previous threads are really without merit but that's not a big deal. All I did in the original response was to offer up a little "word to the wise" about how others may interpret your comments and threw in a little humor about eating crow, after that you seemed to make it personal. Nobody called you out or said anything derogatory about you. I even apologized before hand about the radar gun numbers you reported, go back and look at it. I know you are extremely competeitive just like the rest of us. You enjoy watching your son play just as much as I like watching mine. The things you have posted are the same things I would tell my guys at practice or before a game to fire them up much the same way you would. Away from my team or in a public forum I 'm going to be respectful to the other opponent and not give them any ammunition. Put yourself in the other teams shoes for a minute, if you knew the team you were playing had made some sort of prediction about already winning the game you were about to play you would feel disrespected and do everything you can to kick their tails wouldn't you? I know I would and I certainly believe you would as well. That's the only point I was trying to get across. The group of kids you guys have are top notch and they do have an excellent opportunity to make a lot of noise during the all star tournament. Each time I have had an opportunity to watch them play I have been there, so to think I have something against you or this team is way off base. Again I wish you and your guys nothing but success and I hope you go as far you can.
  5. UNBELIEVABLE!! I gave you a chance to clean up your comments and what do you do? Continue to dig a deeper hole. I am amazed at the logic on some of this, the statement about the difference between 54 and 60 feet is humorous. MPH is MPH regardless of distance, reaction time is the only thing different and last time I checked on a radar gun there is no setting for 54 or 60. Also the comment about being on your jock is also funny, I tried to help you out of respect for the other coaches on the team who once they see this thread will undoubtedly cringe (some already have) at the sight of it so don't give yourself that much credit. Anybody who decides to make public professions of superiority or prowess is begging to be a target. Why do you think you get all the public "PC" comments from most coaches and players, they give respect to the other teams and play down anything that may be derogatory. A simple " we are playing well right now and hope to advance as far we possibly can" is much better than "we should win the next tournament". And last but not least about the bulletin board material, you already see people from Deer Park and Baytown area paying attention to this thread. Bulletin boards don't always have to be in a football locker room, think about it. One day grasshopper you will learn, until then it will be an adventure.
  6. Wow! Where do we start on this reply! Let's see how about the "X" on your back. Don't kid yourself and think it's exclusively yours because plenty of teams are "marked", your "X" may have been placed there while you were patting yourself on the back. Ever wonder why football teams have bulletin boards in the locker room? Innocent little quotes from other teams get posted there in order to provide a little extra motivation. Oh I almost forgot the "crow" part, yes I do know what crow tastes like and so does every other person who is competitive. If you haven't tasted crow you haven't been playing. Now how about those numbers you so precisely quoted on the other pitchers, 83-85mph on the 13 yr old is not impossible but more likely improbable. If you had the radar gun and actually took the readings then let me apologize, other than that speed is always overestimated by all but the best of scouts. The elite high school pitchers in our area bump 90 on occasion with most settling out with a legitimate number in the mid to high 80's. I'm not saying the kid you faced wasn't throwing hard but to attach unknown numbers is begging somebody to call BS. I do however believe that your ball club will play well, I know all of them and I know you so I have something to base my opinions on. You did yourself a favor playing in the Nations State tournament, you should be proud of the results. I hope for you, the coaching staff, and the kids that you represent PNG and our area well. Just remember there is always a sleeper out there and they show up when you least expect it. Hope you guys have continued success.
  7. Hey Games 24X7, Just a little FYI, Ketchup, Ranch, or Tex Joy Steak seasoning always helps "CROW" taste a little better when you have to eat it. I hope your boys do well but I would be a little more tactful on how I word my responses so as not to give anyone extra incentive. Good luck at the next tournament.
  8. Whoever makes this squad should certainly be proud because there was some great baseball played this year by a bunch of really good athletes. The usual suspects such as Hicks, Felts, Statum, Robertson and others represented there schools well. Kelly from Silsbee was tough, Lalonde from HF played well, Kellog for BC was a great addition to their team, and the list could go on for a while. The underclassmen were just as good and they certainly make the future that much brighter for their respective schools. Henry from Silsbee was impressive behind the plate as well as with the bat, so was Menard from BC, and Darnall from WO-S. The freshman lefty from Silsbee (Jenkins) was another good one on the mound along with the soph from WO-S (Anderson). The one bad thing about the list is that somebody is going to get left out, just a hard cold fact with this much talent in one area. Glad I don't have to pick. Congrats to those who do make it.
  9. Thank goodness for Gary Stelly!! KOGT sports is the "ONLY MEDIA" in Orange County that gives every school a fair shot at coverage. Gary calls a great game and without a doubt doesn't suffer from being "starstruck" or have a "man-crush" on any particular program like some other local media outlets do. If I can't be at a game I look forward to hearing it broadcast on KOGT. Congrats and keep up the good work Gary!!
  10. TD is a winner!! That young man hit 13 in one season, including 3 in one game.
  11. Hey TD and Lazeek, I have been seeing this thread for a while now and just wanted ask what is the record for home runs in that league? I have a guess but could be wrong. What do you guys think it is or know it is for that matter?
  12. Man what a difference a year makes huh?? Last year this one would be an absolute no doubter, BC by a ton! This year it' s a little different, WOS has the ability to make this a competitive game but they almost have to play perfect and get some breaks. BC is very solid defensively and and on the mound, they don't make many errors and they make you pay for mistakes. Hodge should pitch for WOS, he has thrown the ball well in his last couple of outings. He went the distance against Silsbee last start and threw well against Hardin Jeff. No BC is not HJ but the bats have not been really strong for the cardinals either so anything can happen. BC has to be favored by at least 8 but anything can happen in high school sports!! Hopefully it's a good game from both sides. The one thing that's for sure is that BC will not underestimate the Mustangs, they will come to play.
  13. Steerman, you obviously are a bit touchy on this subject aren't ya? I believe in my previous post I said HF "did not play well defensively", go back and read it. The pickoff play at first took away the only momentum HF really ever had so it did have a great effect on the game. No HF did not hit the ball, "Anderson kept them off balance"!! Another blatant oversight on your blue and gold part. You are the one who needs to read before you post. Get a clue, get some discipline, and get ready for your next game.
  14. Great game at WO-S tonight!! Zane Anderson pitched a terrific game tonight, worked himself out of a couple of really tough jams. The pickoff at first killed HF, they really had the table set and were ready to do some damage. Anderson kept HF off balance all night, the mustangs got some timely hits, and HF did not play well defensively. A true nail biter until the end. One observation from the game is that HF really lacks any discipline, they are really bad at yelling at each other and the kid that threw the helmet when they pinch ran for him needs to be glad he wasn't playing anywhere else because he would have paid for that outburst no doubt. I believe the same guy hit a long foul ball and ran the bases until it was called foul, then he walks from behind the mound all the way back to the box like he's Manny Ramirez or something, really showed some attitude.
  15. WO-S overmatched in this one. The new kid for BC that started was the real deal, has great mechanics and threw the ball well. Bridge City never just crushed anything that Anderson threw, that has to be a concern for later in the season. BC hit a couple of balls well, very nice execution on the sac flies. WO-S just doesn't have it all there yet, they kill themselves fundamentally and their pitchers run way too many 3 ball counts.
  16. Quinn only had 2 pitches left, I think his total was 83. Fontenot against Mexico would have been good, Mexico was the best hitting team in the tournament and they had their ace on the hill lined up as well. Had the potential to be a great one. Japan will be no walk in the park, their big lefty should throw tomorrow and LC has had trouble with the southpaws.
  17. Lake Charles loses 7-5. Unbelievable finish. Congrats on a great season Lake Charles, hopefully they can beat Japan in the consolation.
  18. Not sure about who the Whitecaps are but they are not the old Drakes team. There was a 10yr old Whitecaps team last year and they were from Vidor so I would guess the same for the 13's.
