1.
Collins at Livingston is a Dynamic Athlete. Very dangerous in their offense. HAS a LOT OF OFFERS at multiple positions, QB, WR, DB
Again not a QB prospect...But may be the best DB in the district and will no doubt play DB at the next level.
 2. Funny no preseason hype for WOS...This may be the year they make some real post season hype in 3A! Of course the region got even harder with the addition of Lamarque. Having to go through CS and LM just to get outta the region wil lnot be easy.
 3. 1. Denton Guyer 2. Cedar Park 3. Tyler John Tyler 4. Highland Park 5. Pearland Dawson 6. Leander All big 4A schools (border line 5A). Cedar Park and Leander are in the same district...Actually they are neighbors like PNG/Ned...Ouch!

Now as a Linebacker , definitely !
Agreed. I think Vidor is better off with Q playing sparingly on offense so he can rest for defensive purposes where he can and will wreek havoc on 20-4A offenses. Does Vidor have another kid that can steer their offense?
Funny how it's never the Officials fault when you win!
 6.
In that case I can count Hebert/Ozen together on the hoops count....
No. Two entirely different schools. PA High School and Jefferson HS are the same because PA High School just changed names, never shut down or combined schools...Also the case with PN HS and PNG HS. No merger occurred, just added the other city that had been going there all along.
 7.
I don't see that flying....I mean how would you justify schools with 75 kids playing schools with 400 in football? They would have to have more than one classification...I don't think they would do it.
It's done in most other states. Small privates in with the large publics and whoopin on the them cause they recruit the top talent. Shreveport Evangel had 75 students, but was the large school classification champs for years in LA.
 8. This is Vanilla news really...I am just glad that they are keeping the Private schools out of the Public School playoffs. This would be the end of hometown Friday Night Football as we know it.

His draft history is outstanding. I have no reason to doubt him at this point. I guess the question is which would you rather have in 5 years? A very good 22 year old deffensive SS who hits around .300 and 25+ HRs or possibly a very good deffensive 3B who hits .300 and 35+HRs (if he fills out) or A #1 starter that goes every 5th day. I would rather take a flyer on an everyday guy myself. Because we all know that the MLB draft is a crapshoot.
Well lets say Correa becomes what people think he will, which player do you think will actually stay with the Astros? The early 20s SS who draws comparisons to A-Rod, or the #1 pitcher who grew up in Houston and who's favorite team is the Astros. Fact is that Correa becomes what he is projected to be, he will probably not be with the Astros when he hits his prime. Appel has a much higher chance of staying in Houston for a long time.
Appel is a Scott Borras client...Enough Said!!!! I have a sneaky feeling that Appel will be back in the draft in 2013! And it is quite possible the Astros will have the top pick again! Read that he refussed to do a Conference call with the Pirates last night.  RED FLAG!
I agree with what you are saying in most cases, but the Astros farm system is so terrible they need players that will be in the league sooner rather than later.  All those years of Drayton not signing draft picks to save money is biting them in the rear right now.
Why do they need players sooner than later? As Astro's fans we must come to terms with the fact that our home team will struggle for the next several years, but the farm system is getting better. Singleton, Springer, Santana and even Deshields with his SB #'s have posted very good springs so far and Nash has loads of power at 19 years old and could be a future DH if he can cut down on the whiffs. Theres a few good arms in Cosart (as long as he can stay healthy), Folty and this Tropeana kid. Long way to go, but the future is brighter.

Immediate help for what? You really think one college kid is going to make a 40 win impact in one season? One of the reasons Appel fell like he did is because he is not a top of the rotation pitcher. Appel struggled at times at Stanford. This is why this draft is so difficult. There is no bonnifide #1 or even #2 and no sure fire can't miss prospects. Every thing I have read on Correa projects a quick riser through the system with a potential MLB date of 2014 which would mean he will have just turned 20 years old. My personal oppinion is that the Stros should work the trade deadlines for more prooven (in the MiLB) young pitching and stick to drafting the best available athletes in the draft. Stephen Strassburg doesn't come along every year and even he has had his issues.
They have more than 1 pick in this draft.  If they can get 3 or 4 guys that are close, then they can make up 40 games with the young team they have together now.  I hope as much as anyone that this guy pans out, but I have just read a lot that says he is way too risky.  This may all be a moot point anyways with the move to the AL next year.  The Stros may be taking their lumps for years to come anyways.
The MLB Draft is not like the NFL Draft. The players picked in the MLB draft will have no imidiate impact on there teams. Most will not be in the MLB until 2016, 2015 at the earliest and a few in 2014. You might have two or three who get called up in 2013, but I would be shocked if any of this years draft get 2013 call ups. Info on Appel, "The problem is that hitters seem to square up Appel's stuff more than they should given its quality and velocity, likely the result of an arm action that's so clean that it lacks deception; he also needs to show he can work down in the zone on a consistent basis rather than leaving all three pitches up in the zone" This is the guy that was tabbed as the top pitching prospect that would be MLB ready quickest?? Looks to me like he is at best 2 years away and even then may be no better than a #2 starter. Not what I want out of the #1 pick in the draft and looks to me like the guys that spend their entire life scouting these guys agreed cause he dropped down to 8th (which is worth a shot on a future #2).

 14. I like it better than the current format. Gives more incentive to be a higher seed and will probably result in the top seed representing the conference more often which should be the case in a low major conference anyway.
 15. He signed with Tampa Bay as a non-drafted free agent, which is actually better than getting drafted in the 6th or 7th round.
Certainly.  I agree.  But you can't prevent or blame someone for wanting to better themselves, coach at the next level, be closer to family or return to where they were born and raised.
No, I don't blame them at all.  I did the same thing when I moved back to Texas.  I understand going somewhere else to move up the ladder, especially when the HC looks like he will be here for a while.  I was suggesting that the district offer incentives for the coaches to stay to keep the coaching core together.  Ned has had their share of assistants moving around, but the core group with the OC and DC have been the same for many years.  I would guess that they could also go somewhere else to coach at the HC/AD level, but choose not to.
They are also Nederland Graduates, thus there is no real pressure on them to "move back home".

So your saying that you don't currently attend LU football home games and would only do so if they go FBS?  :o Sounds like the fairweather fans that helped ruin the program the first time!
 18. Wasn't he also the Head Softball coach at Lumberton?
 19. Exactly. We have not lost coaches to lateral positions. They have either moved up to 5A or on to HC or Coordinator positions. This is not a sign that there is a problem in your program. Its actually the opposite. When other schools want your guys thats a good thing!
 20.
Just a random question, 20-4a brothers...  When was the last time that you remember Central missing the playoff for 2 consecutive  years?  We missed the playoffs in 2004 only to win district title the following year. We missed the playoffs in 2007 only to make a 4 round playoff push the following year. Last  year, we missed the playoffs...  this year...  ?????  ;) ;) 8) 8)
This is why I have you guys in the playoff hunt. This and the return of QB Mitchell. I just hope Washington lets the kid blossom.
Not to mention the leading rusher of 20-4A at the time went down with a game ending injury at his third play that game. And already had 30+ yards that game anyways. But not making excuses. Yall made the plays. We didn't. But that game could've gone either way.
He wasn't the leading rusher.  Hate to burst your bubble but we had this discussion several times during the season.
At the time he was. You want me to bring back the stats?
No actually at the time he wasn't! Mayes had a 10 yard edge on him. And soon thereafter the Bull was lost for the year and a 4-0 Livingston team went 3-3 without him.
David Bolinger Texas high - 17 att 133 yds BC - 11 att 130 yds Kville - 12 att 125 yds Devonte Mays Jasper - 16 att 127 yds Houston Washington - 8 att 143 yds Huntsville - 9 att 90 yds David Bolinger total yards at week 3 - 388 Devonte Mays total yards at week 3 - 360 Stats don't lie guys.
So where did you get your Mayes Totals? and Where did you get your Bollinger totals? It's pretty obvious you got the Mayes numbers from iPreps, but did not use iPreps for Bollingers totals. Real convinient. In that case "STATS DO LIE!" Bollinger on iPreps (same site you used for Mays) Texas high - 17 att 138 yds BC - 11 att 102 yds Kville - 12 att 110 yds For a total of 350. Or 10 fewer yards than Mays. I ain't got a dog in this fight, no pun intended, but if your trying to say that losing Bollinger was why you lost to Nederland, then you are just like all those other Vidor sports fans that claim that it's the coaches fault or it's the officials fault or an injury's fault, but never give credit to the fact that the other team was just better! It happens. Last year we had a shot to beat Nederland, but it didn't happen and there were many things we could point to, but in the end they were just better than us (not by much ;D).
 22. It's a shame. The young man made a mistake as we all have. The really measure of a man is how he learns from his mistakes and attones himself. I hope he gets the opportunity to do so somewhere as everything I have heard before this makes me believe he will attone given the chance. I also applaud Coach Weiss for making it real clear to his players that this type of nonsense will not be overlooked. This is a minor incident, but when these minor incidents get swept under the rug, they lead to major problems within the program later on.
 23. Wasn't he an assistant there before coming to LSCPA? Is HC at an NAIA actually better than at a JUCO for resume building?

 25. 1. Ned 2. Vid 3. PNG 4. Cen 5. Ozen 6. Liv 7. LCM 8. Lum Top returning teams will be at the top again. Nederlands stacked with good ball players and adding a very good young group to that. Vidor probably drops off after this year, but they will make some noise in 2012. I would expect 3-6 will compete for those 3 & 4 spots. I am not sold on Ozen without Green! Central has the most seasoned returning QB and that allways counts for something. Collins gives Livingston a chance in everygame, but I am not sure about Livingston without it's stable of RB's and if they have to throw they are in trouble. PNG has some talent returning, but the big question mark is how will this Senior class look. They didn't do well on there own a few years back, but with talented Junior and Sophomore classes next year I suspect by a few games into district they will be solid enough to take a playoff spot. LCM will not win with Sezar alone! wonder what he would look like in Silver and Blue?  ;)
