they did,i don't know how they are so quick to forget...vidor drove the fields twice for 2 touchdowns on that number 1 D, they scored a 80 yard touchdown off of a screen on vidor. i will say this they are fast and physical but vidor's defense is better
Vidor fans on this board are this year's L-Train. Vidor is good, but some of you made way too much out of the scrimmage with WO-S. It was a SCRIMMAGE. A few of your fans are trying to create a "win" out of this practice. Nothing about that practice is parallel to a real game. No game planning by coaches, lots of extra substituting, trying out players at different positions, JV players being used, no turnovers can be returned for TDs (in which WO-S had one nullified), a starting tailback and our best OL not playing...yeah, I'd like to see what it would be like in a REAL game. If both teams could play at full strength with a week of coaches preparations, THEN we would see who would win. But since it ain't gonna happen, dream on about your "win." I'm more interested to see if you can 1) beat Nederland, 2) win a district title outright, and 3) play some consistent defense for an entire regular season and into the playoffs. You've had ONE notorius year, but it takes a lot more than that to gain the respect you're demanding. You're not there yet.
O'boy, here's another football rocket scientist popping up. FYI genius, we've been pretty good since '08 and this will be our 3rd time to make the playoffs. Lumberton had one exceptional group of kids. During the course of that time, WOS has failed to beat us in any scrimmage, I know because I've to all of them. We're free this Friday, I really wish we could play the game and shut your pipsqueak school up. To quote Aerosmith,"Dream On".
Vidor better worry about playing Nederland in two weeks..that will be your first loss. I hate to tell you, but the Pirates better worry about Central making the playoffs over them. Overall, they have a better defense than the Pirates. Vidor has the better offense. Your big problem is that if ya'll ever get down by a couple of scores with that offense your not gonna come back on the better teams. Vidor is a really good team and SHOULD make the playoffs with that being said. Please don't call a school pipsqueaks when you have had a handful of winning seasons and a lot of dismal ones and we've been in the upper echelons for the past thirty years. -
Don't be so arrogant about beating the Jags and then lay an egg next week against Jasper. But know that if you guys played the Titans we would pull the Umbrellas out early and often. Stay in your lane and be happy about your past successes because that's what it is the past.
What has any team from Port Arthur the past thirty years has won in football championships? Your team went 1 step further than we did last year. Saw the replay on TV. We could definately play ya'll close, the depth could get us in the end but NO way would you beat us like a drum.

However, I expect a tight game early with Wos pulling away a little in the fourth for a 12 or 13 point win.
PNG always has one of the best JV teams, they would likely win the jV state championship
I think the Mustangs beat them already :). Great comeback by the freshman team over Central after giving up the lead with about a minute and a half to play then scoring winning TD with 8 seconds left. Someone should tell Cental's freshman coach that his team shouldn't do the "Whoop There It Is" chant and dance until the game is over. -
Hate to see anyone quit. Good luck to them and their ex-teammates.

Yoy want a cookie for that?
Central, if your soooooooo confident. Just suit up your top 30 kids, keep the others home so the depth factor is equal and let's play. What other 3A school in the area schedules schools consistently every year that has twice the amount of players we have and has such an outstanding record as we do? Central had better worry more about PN-G than us. AS far as your district, we have already proven we can hang with Vidor and Nederland. Already beat LC-M, and PN-G.

PN-G has beat you the past three years..want a cookie for that? Seriously, I hope it is a great game and everyone comes out with no injuries. Enjoyed the verbal sparring with you Soulja.

Almost 2 decades ago... Fact
When was Central's or even PAM's last one?
Bad example, Sunshine. Neither team have been around as long as the Stangs.
Then why did you bring up your point if you can't defend it the other way around. Your not running for political office are you? :) Fact is any team is capable of beating another team on any given day. WO-S ALWAYS gets the best effort from everyone because of who we are and our past. To most teams a victory over us means a lot more than a victory over Central. We will have to come out and play well to beat you, but I do expect that to happen. That's why we are fans, to root our teams on to victory.

Did that get 'ugly'. I heard it did... But not in your favor. Hmmmm. Run through? I think not. Now that I'm thinking, did you 'run through' Nederland last year? I believe their a member of the same district you you would 'run through'. ...and trust me, you wouldnt want to see them this year...
Vidor was not ugly....in fact it was very close. You ARE NOT Vidor, not even close. As far as Nederland last year, if the refs happen to catch the guy going down at the one, we would have beat Nederland. You ARE NOT Nederland. Looking forward to making the "butch" empty out early. Should be a great game.
Beating PG-G have you guys feeling like you've just won the state title, huh? Smh
Just another game to us, our goal is the end of the year.

I honestly don't understand the fan bashing, PN-G has some of the greatest fans around and very classed and played great hosts. Met a lot of nice people even at the JV game. Having seen Vidor, Ned (albeit both in scrimmages) and PN-G in game to be honest, i think PN-G will be looking at the third playoff spot. Ned, and Vidor both impressed me more, but it is early in season and injuries happen and players can develop so don't give up. One question for someone who might know. After the penalty down by the goal-line right before half ended I always thought the clock started on an offensive penalty after the ball was spotted?
PNG had come from a Timeout.
Thanks!
...and you're picking a shutout over us and you allowed PN-G to score more than once on you? Yea, ok. ;) 8)
it will not be a shutout by either team..stangs 27-14. Png scored on a kickoff return and at end of the half when we were playing prevent and they happened to get penalties that put them down near the line and still were almost denied. Predict lots of laundry on the field and hope the refs don't decide the game.
Not considering myself an "old timer", but who all on here rememembers some of the old WOS-PNG battles? For some reason 2 game come to my mind right away. (1) Final game of the 79 season, the Indians come visiting at then Mustang Stadium, winner will take the 22-5a district title. had a standing room only crowd there. Game was a nail biter. Think WOS won something like 26 to 21. PNG had the ball for the final drive and drove it down to about the WOS 20. Last 2 plays of the game were passes into the end zone which had one of them connected would have won the game for PNG. Both passes were defended and WOS walked away with there 1st ever district crown. (2) Believe it was 86 or 87 again in Mustang Stadium, another nail biter, this one low scoring. WOS finally pulled a little bit away in the 4th qtr and won something like 14-3. I'm sure there are plenty others, just these 2 are what stays in my memory. Post up any that stick out on yours.
remember that game well, I was there..the crowd was unbelievable. Topped in my memory only by the TJ (Dodge and Duhon) game at Mustang Stadium.

though i would love to see the Bears win...it won't be this one. Maybe against Lumberton, maybe.
I have heard the wos offense is struggling right now...does anyone know if that info is correct
We looked really good running the ball and really needed to improve passing the ball. Really, it was the penalties that kept us from scoring more against LC-M. The running game was as impressive as I have seen at WO-S in some time.

Did you fall on your head and bump it??? AJ will be lucky to get 50 yards rushing on their defense. Incase you haven't noticed, AJ may be the best runner we have and that ain't saying much. I would really be suprised if png scores at all, if we do it will be a plus. Kinda like your delusional thoughts though, you obviously don't know football.
just keep thinking as the indians are the underdogs..we love to think of us like that..we are gonna shock the world this year..and like i said wos offense sucks real bad
Are you counting the yards running from sideline to huddle?

Hamshire-Fannett End of Season Record Predictions
Txdragon replied to SilentVoices's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
All I can say being an outsider (WO-S) is that the Horns ALWAYS play hard the past three seasons that I have seen them. They may be out-manned but they play hard. They are in a tough district with us, Silsbee, and BC (3 teams that where once bigger schools). Wish them the best of luck against everyone except us :) -

I mean come on really 18-0 against LCM isnt very impressive!
On the high school level and below, the emotional level of a game can be a big factor. It is also unpredictable. That WO-S was in control of the game the whole distance impresses me. I'm sure that Coach Thompson is not impressed, either - but I'll bet he is satisfied with the outcome. Congrats to the Bears on a hard played game. And, of course, way to go Stangs - find (or make) a way to win. 8)
What impressed me (and I was at the game) is that really there was not a lot of emotion in this game for crosstown rivals. It was a workman-like performance by the Stangs. Not even the crowd was really into it. I expect to see a fired-up group of Mustangs this week which could be trouble if we can eliminate the penalties.
