No knock on BC, but WOS defense in much better. You can ask BC about that. BC is very good but not as good as WOS, which is getting better as the season goes on. Should both teams get to the game WOS-Coldspring should be a great game. Coldspring has earned their rep, only way to find out who is over or underrated is to play the game. I kinda like being the underdog in that one. Don't expect CS to fear us but if they don't respect us they are gonna be in trouble. We can't get caught looking ahead though, and that may be the biggest hurdle both teams will face.
As much as it pains me to say this coldspring is not overrated. BC has the best defense in the state per say 3a down.com and texashighschool football. I grant you coldspring will not win state but overated they are not.
West Orange-Stark vs. Cleveland

Whoa Nelly! Dirty ways? From a PNG fan? I remember when our school merged who got the West Orange uniforms? I think PNG. Don't be calling us dirty when you got no basis whatsoever to say that. When ya'll can beat Nederland come back and then ya'll can play us.
Go Cleveland !!!!! I cant stand WOS and their dirty ways
-
Practice is like Las Vegas, what goes on there stays there. They'll find out Friday night.

I graduated with Earnest, and had the not so great pleasure of knocking heads with him. He is a great guy. He went to OK St and really bulked up in their weight problem. I was amazed at how muscular he had gotten first time I saw him come home from up there. He backed up Herschel Walker with the New Jersey Generals and was a third round pick of the Detroit Lions if I remember correctly. His kickoff return against Beaumont Charlton-Pollard (60-0 I believe was the score) was I believe the first home score for the 'Stangs. Man that was a long time ago.

Just wondering if anyone knows the freshmen district standings between WO-S, BC, HJ, OF, SIL, and Ham-Fan? All I know is WOS has a loss to OF. -

I look for a VERY close and competitive game. Really with both caliber of teams I don't think it makes sense to pick either team by more than 7 and at most 14. I think the matchups in this game will be ripe for a good close game.
I totally agree, good post. -

How can you ask a kid who finds himself suddenly able to score to run out of bounds who maybe will never get the opportunity again? ON a football field if you don't like it play harder and stop it.

Orangefield at Hamshire-Fannett Predictions
Txdragon replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have seen both play WO-S, i think that Bobcats D is better and the 'Horns offense is better. Should be a good game. Going with 'Horns only because it is a home game and the 'Cats are coming off a very emotional game. -

I honestly don't think that any WO-S fan hates BC. I hate to say this but when you beat us a couple of times then we might hate you (I mean this sincerely, and not to put anyone down). I think we all know you just can't turn it on for the playoffs, it is something you have to build up to. It's a little late to build up to that. I will say one thing though, if your a Mustang player not giving all you got, all your doing is disrespecting what Reggie stood for and everyone that has played for the school before you. Not only do the individual players deserve better, but your teammates deserve better, and Reggie's memory deserves better. If you don't care, you shouldn't be playing in the first place. -
The same reason they went to a slow down offense. He wouldn't be able to play at Wo-s without this type of offense.
He has run the spread successfully for two years in junior high and was averaging 4-5 TD's per game passing this year on Freshman team. He certainly can run either offense. But he is still a freshman. He is going to be a great player, but just give him time. He works his butt off in practice every day. Great game Bobcats, you made believers out of me after watching the freshman and varsity games. We seem like we really don't know what offense we WANT to run on varisty. Still way to many mistakes and silly errors, like having to call a time out because someone didn't bring the kicking tee on the field for extra point. I really thought we would right the ship this week but I've got to admit the way we are playing one and done in playoffs is big possibility. -

On a serious note Caneyhead does not speak for Orangefield as a whole, not even .001 percent of us. While I like his loyality he is not very realistic. Everyone should know that this person is poking a little fun. I will not predict a score and we have not been close to WOS since they dropped to 3A. With everything happening the way it is I do think we have a chance. That is something we have not been able to say in a long time. I do agree with "riot07" people need to calm down in mustang land. True fans support their teams through thick and thin. Look at me, I have been a cowboy fan through thick and thin for 49 years. But they are really testing my patience. LOL!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Ditto about the Cowboys. -

Not sure I agree, how do you think Orangefield, HJ, Ham-Fan, BC would fare against Nederland, Friendswood, and Giddings? Probably close to the OF-Coldspring results,
You guys can NEVER give any other team in the District any dibbs. Friendswood is 2-5 so they are really not that stellar. If I was WOS I would worry about getting through BC, Silsbee, and OF; I think you may just have your hands full with all 3. Lord forbid you lose to all 3 and start your basketball season early.
We won't lose all three. Will they be tough games? Sure they will. AS far as giving dibs that is certainly NOT true. I respect them a lot. However, they DON"T play anywhere near the shedule we do. Are they capable of beating us, definately. Just being honest, do they beat us on a regular basis? I give kudos to them playing Coldspring and right now I don't think WOS beats Coldspring the way we are playing but we play them much closer. By the way, you might not want to play us in basketball and baseball in the near future, we have a lot of talent coming up in the next couple of years. -
I believe Nederland is in 1st in 20-4a.
I think that was a compliment to WOS.
I think he was just completing what was said. I take it as a big compliment. The way Ned. Has played, just shows how good we CAN be. Right now it seems like we are a Jeckyl/Hyde team. Were playing to our opponents. That is not good. Hopefully last Friday was just a fluke and we will step it up.
Not sure I agree, how do you think Orangefield, HJ, Ham-Fan, BC would fare against Nederland, Friendswood, and Giddings? Probably close to the OF-Coldspring results, unfortunately (that is why they don't schedule those type of schools). I don't think we played down against Kirbyville. GO back and look at past season, at least one close game. We can't always score 40-50 points. Mustang land should just calm down. We will be in the playoffs and have a good shot at winning the district. Shoot we are just a handful of plays from being undefeated. There are things to be worked on for sure. We need to stretch the defenses vertically, and I am very concerned that we have given up large passing plays playing man to man. However, those things can be fixed. -

WO-S at Orangefield Predictions
Txdragon replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just curious, but I have to ask. Bobcat fans who think this will be a close game is it because you think the Bobcats are that much better this year or the Stangs are that much worse? -
Stats from the Orangeleader: H-F, Trevor Bell 5-115, Rhett Williamson 5-30, Cameron Malveaux 3-35, Sam Huff 2-15, Layne Miguez 1-10, Kevin Carmon 1-10 Dante Smith QB 17-33-1 With 33 pass attempts and 17 completions, it sounds like the Horns are spreading it out pretty well. Not too sure about the Horns not using all their weapons. 16 incompletions equals about 52%, the question is how many of those INC were dropped passes? I'm sure Miquez and Carmon were thrown to more than just once. How many times did the receiving corp have balls hit their hands and not make receptions. Maybe REALTALK can help me with this one ::)
I only remember maybe one openly dropped pass to my recollection.

WO-S at Orangefield Predictions
Txdragon replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey, give the Horns credit they ARE a good team and really controlled the game at the line of scrimmage. I really think it will come down to them and BC for the last playoff spot. Yes, the Mustangs were flat (maybe it was the homecoming aspect, who knows). However, NO team goes the entire season without being flat one week at least. The mark of a good team is that they WIN those games and we did. One thing for sure, if we don't take out shots downfield a little more in the passing game other teams are gonna play in the box more and our offense will have a hard time moving the ball. The Stangs are still a good team, seaching to be a great team.
