we dont have a good record against the stangs, think we have lost the last 7 if im not mistaken. Wos has a very good defense. From what i saw last night i dont think the offense we have is gonna cut the mustard. no running game it is non existent! AJ throwing the ball over chipmans head over and over isnt gonna cut it. we will have to spread out the stangs defense and go vertical if they are capable of getting that done. we wont have any success running the ball if we dont, im sorry no running game regardless. It wont get any easier the week after that either. i hate to say it but if i was in the pickems i would go with the stangs.
you won't go vertical against the Stangs defense..maybe underneath routes..but vertical no. But I do expect a close, low scoring game with PN-G capable of winning.

Silsbee 27-7..saw LCM against the Mustangs..I think it is gonna be a long season for the Bears (wishing them the best of luck though). I honestly think they are looking at a 1 or 2 win season.

Overall good, tough scrimmage. Vidor's defense is very quick and they blitzed quite a bit. Bulldog offense very good running the ball but really didn't throw the ball hardly. Not the Mustangs offense was so bad but at least 5 or 6 times when Vidor ran their backers up to the line of scrimmage we would move and get the penalty. Just seems like every time the Mustang offense got going they would be hit by penalties. We will have to correct that. Really didn't understand the unsportsmanlike penalty on Salter when both players were almost back to their huddle and 10 yards apart. Good luck to both teams. -
I think it depends on what offense we run. Are we coming out running or throwing? If we throw the ball a lot it won't be close, if we run WOS wins in close game (somewhere in the 3-13 point differential). Too many starters back on defensive side of ball. Having a new offensive coordinator could take a little while for offense to get on track. I suspect we will try to get the running game going and be somewhat conservative. Should be great game, looking forward to it.

I think the score was 7-6 or 6-5 Twin County defeated Vidor. -
I thought both teams showed a lot of heart. Both sets of umps (the JV and the Varsity) made horrific calls. The home run that cost the JV game was clearly foul. How can an ump in the varsity game be looking down a foul line on a pop fly and rule a ball that was 2 feet foul a hit. I was sitting right on the line looking down and had the same view that he did. One of the worst obvious calls I have ever seen. I may disagree with close calls but I understand them and an ump is gonna blow a few calls on close plays. BUT one that obvious is inexcuseable. Both teams kids played great but I think a lot of them had the umps in their head most of the game. I must admit on the play to centerfield I first thought that the Mustang player had dropped the ball as well, it is so far out there it was hard to see for sure. Just a white spot kinda showed up on the ground. However, every player I talked to afterward confirmed it WAS his hat not the ball. The umpire really didn't see it anyways because he had already signaled the out and had his back to the play. Even with the umpires, I loved the game, almost playoff atmosphere and great plays by both teams. Get well Woody you have the heart of a lion. Good luck to the Horns the rest of the way.
What a terrible group of umpires. They were the same on both sides but they sure take the game away from the kids. Was a good game played by kids alot of heart from both sides. HF just makes to many errors and the lost shows for it. They still had a chance at the end to win but they came up a little short. Herring pitched a great game for his first of many at HF.
Just for the record about JV teams with a lot of freshmen...WO-S has 7 freshmen, 5 sophomores and 1 Junior. Not to mention that the varsity has an additional 4 freshmen starting. -

But Saturday the CS coaches had to scout WOS and Bullard just the 1st half and only WOS the 2nd half. That should be another small advantage for CS. (about 1% if that) Maybe all we need!
That would surprise me. My guess is both of these teams have more than one game film on the other. Probably way more useful than just live scouting. I will agree that 1% advantage may be enough for either team.
I would kinda suspect that game film of the BC-CS game would be available. -

Bottom line these are the two best teams in the region, glad to see them play each other. Whoever, has the least amount of penalties and turnovers probably wins the game. I figure WOS will have to pass well to win and so will Coldspring. The Mustangs (except for the first quarter against the Panthers) have been passing the ball well in the playoffs while Coldspring has not just based on the accounts that their fans have posted. Wish I could see the stats. Watched some game film of the Mr. Gilbert, very impressive. Seems to be very fast but not very quick like Lindsey. Seems like he is better once he hits the corner and has outstanding blocking especially to his left. Have great respect for the Cs coaches they will definately be ready and they know how to use Gilbert very well. Should be a great game decided in the last few drives. Don't know who will win but I will say GO MUSTANGS..may each team be injury free and have it decided on the field with NO help from the refs. -
here's to both squads..proud of you both

WOS vs Bullard Sat. 2pm Woodforrest stadium, The Woodlands
Txdragon replied to kicker's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I think I counted three winning seasons for Bullard since 1980. They won two games last year. Their Qb seems to be their catalyst passing from what I read. Their coach was an assistant at Southlake Carroll. Probably a well coached tough team. Just the kind of team that canbeat you if you overlook them. -
Prayers for them both.

You can ask BC about that. BC is very good but not as good as WOS, which is getting better as the season goes on. Should both teams get to the game WOS-Coldspring should be a great game. Coldspring has earned their rep, only way to find out who is over or underrated is to play the game. I kinda like being the underdog in that one. Don't expect CS to fear us but if they don't respect us they are gonna be in trouble. We can't get caught looking ahead though, and that may be the biggest hurdle both teams will face.
I for one respect Coldspring..hey you beat BC by three more points than we did. It will be a close game. I can guarentee you that the players and coaches respect CS, as far as the fans seems like an awful lot of you were saying you would beat BC by 30-40 points..that's not respecting a playoff opponent. It almost bit you in the butt, BC was a solid team and played like champions. Just saying you keep that attitude up you will get beat by someone before Arlington. That goes for any team. Be careful what you wish for ;D ;D ;D
I for one respect Coldspring..hey you beat BC by three more points than we did. It will be a close game. (Last weeks injury, broken neck, to #12 Jay Trapp was still fresh on several peoples minds and extra care was taken once it looked like the injury could be somewhat serious...Better safe than sorry) He's going thru the necessary steps now to be fully cleared for this weeks game...It'll be up to the docs and his parents on whether he plays this weekend.... If he doesn't play he will be missed on both sides of the ball but CS does have capable backups at both of his positions....He would probably be most missed on the offensive side of the ball due to him getting alot of carries between the tackles and picking up alot of the tough yards needed to keep the chains moving....He's also a very good SS and was the second leading tackler on last years team... Unfortunately injuries are a part of the game and teams and players have to have the next man up mentality...Can't really dwell on it too much...
Glad he's Ok from a Mustang fan.
