I was fortunate enough to sit with Montana's parents at the Clear Brook game. It is a wonderful experience watching them go through the pain and anguish of every play and the exuberance of their son doing well. Two extremely nice people...BTW, Montana has two younger brothers who play as well. What high school football is all about.
He is an excellant Qb..I know all about the anguish of watching your kids play...must be doubly hard with a QB who takes so much heat when you lose and so much praise when you win.

Toilet Bowl - Lumberton at PN-G, Who ya got???

It will be a real barn burner the 1st half as the two teams swap safety after safety until both teams realize they have been going the wrong way for two quarters. Half time score 12-12. Coach Faircloth smokes some peyote at half time and is visited by Cheif Wingfoot who imparts some wisdom on Coach Faircloth. PN-G surprises everyone when they come out wearing Columbia Blue uniforms. PN-G QB's throw for an astounding 300 2nd half yards, 5 TD's and no INT's. Final Score PN-G 47 -12. Lumberton stops at McDonalds on the way home and everyone wins!
+1 for you ;D
Love it. Have not seen Lumberton, did see PNG against WOS. PNG is not as bad as some people would lead you to believe. Gotta get off the L-Train and say the Indians gonna take this one. -

This game is going to be AWEsome!!! Glad I got a week to think about the winner.
That would be cool. I think they should "lovingly" call their stadium the "Black Hole" because a lot of teams go there and strange things always seem to happen. I remember a Mustang game against them years and years ago where Hooks got back to back personal foul penalties and I kinda think the kicker was named Abby Daigle (sorry if I am wrong or misspelled it) kicked a field goal to beat us.
I'm amazed at how many people now think that Vidor "gets calls". Especially people from mid-county or WOS. Give me a break!! If Dan Hooks got two personal fouls called against him he probably deserved 10. He had kids from New Orleans playing for him 1 week after Katrina. Go figure.
How on earth did you manage to mangle my intention so badly. Did not imply Vidor gets calls..just stated that there is ALWAYS something unusual that happens there. Not complaining. Hooks deserved the calls for sure (the refs DID blow a call). Hey, years ago I played softball in a tourney in Vidor. One day a hot water heater blows up just outside the fence and the next I swear we were in a tornado. The lights bulbs were busting out and glass flying everywhere. Vidor just has bad karma for their opponents in Vidor. But now you mention in junior football I do remember a few calls....:)

Depleted Memorial holds down Houston Westside, 31-16

Where is all that depth their fans is talking about?
if you care to read the article, some starting players were sick due to a stomach bug and didn't play or saw limited action smh...dont question a team about depth when they have two jv teams and two freshman teams...and a varsity. also had the largest number of players come out for football @ 240+ followed by nederland @210 or 220.
that's what i am saying..you have the best depth in the area. How can there be a headline like that. -
Honesty, this is rock bottom. We lost to a school that had about 16 or 17 suited up players. Although both defenses played lights out, WO-S did just enough to win on offense. Which is good for them. Us? 2 trips in the red zone with NO points to show for it, receivers dropping passes (with the exception of G. Mitchell), offensive linemen that don't know how to block, and finally, 'staff' that couldn't year open a wet paper bag without the help of an Instruction manual. Those guys didn't have depth at all. We threw no screen passes. We lined up in the I formation. ONCE. We Throw a slant pass for a gain of 10 yards, never to go back to it again. We run an option. Play that hadn't worked in 3 years and counting. WO-S got their first first down with 3 mins left in the first half. You should win games when your defense is fired up line that. But once again, our staff finds a way to bungle that up. There's NO reason at all to be shut out at home by a team that has 75% of it's team going both ways. He stings will do great in that district, but they better shore that offense up and get creative, or it'll be an early playoff exit again. Central, Catch the passes for crying out loud and it'll be a lot easier. You may even be able to run the ball decently for a change. At the rate we're going, we'll get the last spot at best. And that's only because our district is so top heavy.
hang in there Soulja..dropped passes and penalties really hurt you last night. Your right about our offense. We have (and we can) pass the ball better. We have to take shots downfield and over the middle or others will just put their guys out in the flat like ya'll did. Your a good team. If I was a coach i'd be concerned about the fact that players are hanging heads with a whole quarter to play. Good luck, yes ya'll have a good enough team to make a playoff appearence. Really liked the speed of your D.
Hey i will be the first to admit that WOS should have been better dropping down. What we didn't consider I think was that our talent base dipped some with the dwindling enrollment. I have a lot of friends on OF, I would love for ya'll to be up with the big dogs. I do think that much like the Dallas Cowboys fan I am..your right it is unrealistic to think that we will win the champ every year. But that is why we are fans. We have been truly blessed at WOS to have had the success we have had. Not many schools have that kind of track record in double the length of time. Sometimes I think we get a little too used to winning and that is when we get bit in the ass when we should have won a game.
they did,i don't know how they are so quick to forget...vidor drove the fields twice for 2 touchdowns on that number 1 D, they scored a 80 yard touchdown off of a screen on vidor. i will say this they are fast and physical but vidor's defense is better
Vidor fans on this board are this year's L-Train. Vidor is good, but some of you made way too much out of the scrimmage with WO-S. It was a SCRIMMAGE. A few of your fans are trying to create a "win" out of this practice. Nothing about that practice is parallel to a real game. No game planning by coaches, lots of extra substituting, trying out players at different positions, JV players being used, no turnovers can be returned for TDs (in which WO-S had one nullified), a starting tailback and our best OL not playing...yeah, I'd like to see what it would be like in a REAL game. If both teams could play at full strength with a week of coaches preparations, THEN we would see who would win. But since it ain't gonna happen, dream on about your "win." I'm more interested to see if you can 1) beat Nederland, 2) win a district title outright, and 3) play some consistent defense for an entire regular season and into the playoffs. You've had ONE notorius year, but it takes a lot more than that to gain the respect you're demanding. You're not there yet.
O'boy, here's another football rocket scientist popping up. FYI genius, we've been pretty good since '08 and this will be our 3rd time to make the playoffs. Lumberton had one exceptional group of kids. During the course of that time, WOS has failed to beat us in any scrimmage, I know because I've to all of them. We're free this Friday, I really wish we could play the game and shut your pipsqueak school up. To quote Aerosmith,"Dream On".
Vidor better worry about playing Nederland in two weeks..that will be your first loss. I hate to tell you, but the Pirates better worry about Central making the playoffs over them. Overall, they have a better defense than the Pirates. Vidor has the better offense. Your big problem is that if ya'll ever get down by a couple of scores with that offense your not gonna come back on the better teams. Vidor is a really good team and SHOULD make the playoffs with that being said. Please don't call a school pipsqueaks when you have had a handful of winning seasons and a lot of dismal ones and we've been in the upper echelons for the past thirty years.
Yeah they really looked like a great defense when they let us score twice in a srimmage with the starters in. Look at the stats my man. We'll see who has the better defense.
Stats from a scrimmage should and do mean nothing. Don't get me wrong I would love for Vidor to win. I root for any Orange County team and I think Coach Mathews is one of the top coaches in the area. I just don't see the overall speed in the Vidor defense that some teams in the area has. I look for Vidor to make the playoffs but don't count out Central. They had an excellant D and if their offense can get on track could be big problems for someone. I think the winner of the Vidor/Central game will make the playoffs, but it wont be a gimme game. -

I only got to listen to the second half. From what I heard though we done a much better job. We still need to eliminate turnovers. We could have won the game in regulation if not for the fumble down at the 2 yard line. Way to go Trojans. We got another challenge again next week with LCM.
It was a great game. No offense to La Marque, but they are not in the same league with Navasota. I know we made some adjustments after Navasota, and we were playing with a different perspective, but Navasota was just flat awesome. If they don't win state this year I will be really surprised. La Marque was no where near as physical as Navasota. They had the same look at the end of the game as the CS kids had last week. Looked a little shell shocked and were getting up pretty slow after the plays. CS played a lot more physical tonight, and it looked to have taken a toll on the La Marque boys. But, a little word of warning!! Both of these teams are going to have to do a better job of holding on to the ball. If they keep turning the ball over like these first 3 games, they might both be at home watching the State Championships on Fox Sports.
I have to agree I will be shocked if Navasota dosent win a state championship and for La Marque or CS to have a shot at one they will have to face each other again should be another great one.
I think West Orange-Stark will have some say in that state championship talk :).
They sure might. Which ever team comes out of our region this year should have a good chance of winning it all. WO-S should go Division II 3 A correct? That would put Coldspring, La Marque, and WO-S all three in Division II. I say that 1 of those are the eventual state champion.
I sure think so. I think our region winner would have a great chance of taking home the trophy and if it is not us we will be rooting for the region winner.
I agree with you that "NO" Team in the area (GT) has much of a chance to reach the title game muchless win a state championship. But I can promise you this, teams around the state of Texas know who WOS and Newton are. Regardless if they make it to that title game are not. Even "NOW" as you say they know and they also know they will have a battle on their hands. I agree WOS has not made the noise in 3A like everyone thought but that being said anything can happen on any given friday night. Did not read the whole thread got in on the end but just an observation that If kids do quit the mustang program and I am sure they do, it is because they could not handle the hard work or discipline that is required to succeed. I say let them quit and if you only have 11 left then that 11 will fight till the end. It is all about being hungry and motivated. Some kids have it, some don't. Plain and simple.
Overall, I agree that football in the triangle is down the past few years. I disagree that no one has a chance to win the championship. WOS was two games away from playing in the state champ and PAM was one. Though Newton is not in the triangle per say they have a chance and don't forget Community Christian in Orange has a chance. Yes, kids quit our program because of the toughness or playing time, I know some. Every program has that. Not sure about LC-M being on the upswing..we do get transfers from LC-M. PAM should be proud of their recent record and I hope that 20 years from now they will have had the same success we have had.

PAM has a true PROGRAM. a coach the kids have bought into. a system that is run from pop warner to varsity. the same plays you see on friday night, you can see them on tues, thurs and sat. PAM is the dominant team in the area. wos only put up 14 against central?? wos FANS have little man syndrome. well some of them. this is what you here "we are a small 3a beating people bigger than us...we can beat brook, we can beat pam...bring em on". really?? really?? my advice for wos posters, stay in your lane, worry about trying to survive in 3a,because wos have not since they go there...oh wait 99 when wos was 4a,but you didn't bring it home. so what have wos done as of late??? PAM made it to the semi finals last year...what about wos??
How come you think your so much better than us just because you made it 1 step further? No we couldn't survive in 5A long term, we don't have the numbers..but for one game we are capable of beating ANYONE. Facts: All time records vs TJ (including the Dodge years) 9 wins-6 losses- 1 tie...against Lincoln 18 wins-1 loss-1 tie....all-time record against those schools.. 27 wins - 7 losses - 2 ties.
Man you guys can't even have a debate about PAM without going back to those schools. The city of PA has moved on. The school has moved into forward progress. Now every time someone form other surrounding cities "SUCK PAM INTO" their debates that's what the do, back to the past. And for the record it was you WOS/Central fans that brought PAM into this debate since you guys brought us into this riddle me this... which of you WOS fans remember about 3 years ago when Singleton and Seales were in the 10th grade and PAM's JV tore up Dan R Hooks stadium?
Listen I root for PAM when they are in the playoffs, I respect PAM. You guys are good. Where I have a problem is when someone says we would have no chance against you guys. That's incorrect. As far as best program in the area, when you have more than 3 or 4 years of winning tradition get back to us. Not many schools in Texas history can boast the winning tradition of WOS or even Newton.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with my friend ryker that the team and coaches are foolish enough as some fans are to look past Jasper. Do I think WO-S will win? Yes. Do I think some sort of blowout will occur? No. It will be, as many Jasper/WO-S games have been, uncomfortably close for fans on both sides of the field.
couldn't have said it better myself. 8) I think Jasper fans do know how good WO-S is. Very good indeed.
This is game will be, with apologies to Liberty, OF and Kirbyville on the Jasper side and LC-M, PN-G and Central on the WO-S side, by far the toughest test for both teams thus far this season.
Well stated!
Jasper will not put up 45 on this DEFENSE. Sorry!!
very low scoring game..be surprised if either team scores more than a couple of TD's. I honestly think Jasper will be the best team we played so far this year. We are coming off three tough games for us. Definately a trap game, Jasper has a chance, but I go with my Stangs cause I'm a homer. :)
wow, okay to judex a little education here. i will start off in the past, starting with why PAM wasnt this super power everyone thought we were going to be. #1. in 5a, i dont care how many athletes and talent you have thats hard to do. yes brook did it but that's like winning the lottery. what have they done since then?? back when PAM was consolidated, the feeder schools was doing there thing, the adults were back biting etc...unlike in wo-s to where it was a system in place. oh,by the way, wo-s didn't want no more of pam after jamaal ran all over them during a game like scrimmage. after a couple of those, the pony boys tapped after getting donkey stomped. speaking of the past, when was the last title brought to wos?? it's about what have you done for me lately. when wos got moved to 3a, it was assumed titles would be rolling in...NOT!! that same assumption was and sometimes is still put on PAM. now in all honesty, put away your horse shoes, your dan hooks for pres. banners, your 80's state championship souvenier cup and ask yourself this...who in the golden triangle, the lakes(jasper moving south hitting newton, kirbyville, silsbee, lumberton, vidor, allthe schools...name one who can beat PAM right now. i guess you would say wos...well you are wrong. why?
