Funny that this thread is so quiet, in the past it would be full of "smack" I quess neither town is sure about their team with the new coaches....I heard the 8th grade does not have a "B" team from WOS does that mean the numbers are getting smaller
The seventh graders last year had both A and B but consolidated them midway in season, not surprising this year also since they are 8th graders now. Have not seen the seventh graders yet but I had impression they would have enough for two teams.

If you talking about CCoopm he is one of the finest people around, I work him when he's moonlighting. Great guy. Glad he's my friend. Coop you know where to send the money for this testimonial.

Incorrect Stats in OR Leader, BMT Ent & HOU Chron
Txdragon replied to stardt's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I know several years ago when I was a stringer, the person covering the game for the paper kept their own stats. I would get together with the stat guy at the half and immediately after the game if possible to reconciliate any differences. However, sometimes due to deadlines, that was not possible. SO if your looking in the boxscore immediately after the games there can be some errors. Usually, the papers print updated official stats during the week. -
Shoulda been Memorials B team
Thanks, that is what I figured. However, we had heard it both ways. The QB on that team sure can run, but bless his heart he has to be sore tomorrow.

WO-Stark Freshman 38, Port Arthur Memorial-0..Not sure which team PA was but I figure probably "B" team.

Why is it I keep looking for the HARD KNOCKS film crew to show up at Mustang practices along with Jerry Jones and Terrell Owens? Enough of this stuff.

Stangs win it on a 65 yard field goal 23-20!! ;D

What does this mean for Nederland?
Txdragon replied to Nederland Dog 2006's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Nederland is definately bigger up front than the Mustangs, as far as wearing us down I really don't think conditioning was the problem. Bulldogs should have been able to wear us down as they have many more kids on their varsity than we do and we ahve several kids playing both ways due to sheer numbers. I just don't think that they did. Nederland is a good team and should be playoff bound. Bulldogs just got the big plays when they needed it. From a Mustang perceptive the 'Dogs HAVE to run the ball better but not many teams will cover their outside receivers one on one most of the night like we did. I was impressed with their defense the second half against the run but I thought the secondary was a little iffy and the Mustangs really didn't take full advantage of it. They will be ok against power teams but speed teams should continue to give them problems. They should go at least one or two rounds in playoffs in my opinion and I hope they go further. -

The long pass was def. out of bounds. the 2-pt was quest. Congrats to Nederland and Coach Neumann, great win. The great coach you spoke of? Isn't he OC at Texas High now who just lost to vidor? Nothing against TF I now and like him. It is just some people treat some coaches on here like deity while bashing others. OFF SOAPBOX NOW! Sorry
The long pass was def. IN bounds. We saw pics Sunday, taken by a photog on the WOS sideline and he had it frame by frame and the reciever def. got his 1st foot down in bounds. As for the 2 pt. play I'm glad that wasn't my call. The HL that made the call was 100% confident in it and he told me he saw the replay and still feels 100% confident in it. Unfortunately we don't have the time to ask all of you your opinions before we make and call nor can we rely on replays like college and NFL. Great game from 2 great teams. Good luck to both!
Would love to see the pics on that one..from the replay on the scoreboard and from the view where I was sitting, I just don't see how. Can we gets those still-frames posted? 'Dogs deserve all the credit and for those bashing Coach T, he did nothing wrong to lose the game. I have friends on the Bulldog staff and I certainly root for them anytime they are not playing the 'Stangs. Good luck to both the rest of the way. No doubt refs have a tough job and my respect and admiration goes out to them. They are gonna make some bad calls that is just the way it is and you can't put yourself in a position to have it affect the outcome of a game. However, I am 100% certain I can run the Dallas Cowboys better than Jerry Jones, it doesn't make it true lol. -
The two point conversion was good. Left hand hit the ground, ball in right hand was on the goal line when his butt hit the ground. Nederland defense did very well last night and will only get better. Missed tackles at the line of scrimmage hurt some but it's hard to wrap up a running back that quick and elusive. WO-S defense very impressive and quick.....one of their better defenses I have seen in the last couple years. WO-S kickoff return called a touchback; he caught the ball out side the goal line then stepped back across the goal line with one foot ruling it a touchback. The same as catching it on the 5 yard line and running back in the endzone.
From looking at the film at KFDM and by no means is it a definative angle, but it appears to show butt down and hand with ball around his right knee pad which would make the player down before the score. There is no question his butt is down before the goal as you can clearly see space before the goal. Beg to differ with you on this call. No excuses that Dogs played well and deserved to win. -

I could tell you 100 reasons why nederland won that game and none of them have to do with the players haha. But no way that game should have been that close, wos dominated the whole game. But thats what happens when you leave a team in the game and dont put them away! Some of the wildest officiating calls ive ever seen lol. Never seen a kickoff return blown dead for no reason. And ive never seen a guy catch a pass and land a yard out of bounds and call him in. And ive never seen a highschool player catch a pass and fall then roll into the endzone hahaha but owell its over and on to the next! Good game bulldogs for sticking around. And as for us stangs lets get after it cause if we dont Show up and play 4 solid quarters next week we will be 0-2! Lets not let that happen! haha
This post is funny.....how come everytime a team loses their first reaction is to question refs calls (this includes nederland as well) In my 4 years @ Nederland we never beat WOS u you have to date back to '03! And every year WOS would talk crap so im going say Nederland won cause they had the BETTER team! WOS got out played! and cause........ WOS caught that LeBron Disease: They didnt show up in the 4th quarter!!!! lol ;D
The two no call pass interference penalties that were not called could have hurt us (WOS), in honesty I thought the first one should have been called but the second one I agree should have been a no call. That is judgment calls and rightfully so. WOS had our chances to win but we couldn't get over the hump. We lost fair and square, but it is a shame with the game on the line that the refs had to come into play. No excuses we lost, but how on earth can a ref miss to calls (especially the sideline catch when the ref was on top of the play). Would have love to have seen the replay on the coversion but from our angle the player was down with his back hitting the ground before he even got to the goal line. Mustangs make no excuses when we lose. Good luck Bulldogs and hopefully both teams will get better officiating. -
9th grade game of the week: WOS @ Ned... 2 very talented and athletic teams, if no key players have been moved to JV or Varsity...
Nederland came out to play. They are HUGE across both lines. Just kinda wore WOS down. WOS defense was on the field for the entire first quarter except for one play. Mustangs moved the ball well late but not enough. Turnovers just killed the Mustangs. Wished we had half the number of kids that Nederland had. Mustangs had their chances just could not quite put the plays together. Would love to have played this game down the line when we are more confortable with the new offense. Good win for the Bulldogs, they are an oustanding team. -
There has been some WOS players moved up to JV but this is still the core of a team whose combined A and B teams have only allowed 1 touchdown combined over the past two years. AS to who cares? These could be the best 9th grade teams in the area and certainly in the top 5. I know that the Bulldogs have an oustanding team as well. Yes, my kids play on the team, but it should be interesting to see these two teams now and in a couple of years on Friday nights. -

Actually Thursday night, Stangs had a good week of practice I think they will play good. Should be a close and interesting game probably decided by turnovers. It should be interesting in how they run the new offense. -
Right now I watch most of my kids practices and no my kids are not starting. I watch so I can see their strengths and weaknesses so I know what they can work on to get on the field. Plus, I love watching football. I say nothing during practice to them even if they walk by and I say nothing to the coaches during practice. Not my place to interupt them. I even asked the coach if it was Ok for me to be there and got permission. What harm is it? I fully support my boys, their team, and their coach. IF they are never good enough to start so be it as long as they want to play I will be there to support them. That being said I DO have a problem with parents who walk up to talk to their kids during a practice (especially on the field). I think that is very disrespectful to the coaches.

TD, Glad your on our side my friend. Thanks for everything you do for the Mustang Family.

STJFL Senior 2nd Round Predictions?
Txdragon replied to BCFAN13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I must admit I haven't seen any of them play but I know how prepared the Lil Mustangs can be for playoffs. Maybe speaking from the heart but gotta say Stangs all the way. -
As a Stallion parent congrats to the Shorthorns, I know they impressed me when I saw them against our 7th graders.
Congrats to the H-F Shorthorns on their 7th Grade A District Championship. Great group of kids. Silsbee also has a great group of 7th graders and will be fun to watch in seasons to come.
Homer what was the A team score? Congrats to both teams...hats off to the B team never scored on, never beaten in middle school career (7th and 8th). Proud of both team and don't want to forget 7th graders who finished the season strong after a rough beginning.

The way I see it the worst WO-S can do is tie for championship and win it outright with victory tonight
