1. The Silsbee 8th grade team went to and won the Galena Park North Shore Tourney last weekend.
 2. What???? No negative comments about a 71 point blowout? Or the point spread goes unquestioned? Wow, I guess that only happens if one unnamed school in the area wins that big. Talk about double standards...... ( nothing against Big Sandy. I completely understand the fact that they are trying to maintain a high level of play regardless of competition level. I just feel that ALL schools that do so ought to be respected ss such and not just a couple or few.
 3. Also, the 1979 edition of the Silsbee Tigers were 30-3, ranked #1 in state and lost out for a playoff bid to a Fred Williams coached Hebert team, Coach Williams' 1st year there after leaving Silsbee at the end of the previous season.
 4. Just an observation but it simply amazes me that some teams can win by 100 or more points doing whatever they do but are not cast in a negative light yet others ( in this area or otherwise) are cast in that negative light. There are a few instances even in this area in the last year or two where very little was said about it being done by some and yet others blasted for even a 50 pt win. A 100 pt win is a 100 pt win and no matter how it happens kids will feel the same way about it. As a player I would have wanted to take it having you played your best than being the recipient of charity. Very rarely do I post but for some reason felt the need to do so tonight. Wish all a happy Thanksgiving.
 5. There is a picture of him in the Silsbee '78 yearbook in the opening tap against then 6'6" Dexter Wallace (1st team all state). Teagle is a full foot and a half above Dexter with his hand on the ball. He had mad hops too!
 6. I played against him as a high school senior back in '78. Playoff warm-up game in Silsbee. Silsbee won 82-80 but man that guy could go!
 7. From watching summer basketball Joseph Brooks 6'0" junior Coach Ira Brooks Son and brother played 4 years college basketball might be the best shooter in SETX
 8. Actually, the only state qualification is to be a full time employee of the respective school district. Degree or certification requirement is set by the individual school district. It is my understanding that the head coach of Kimball is not degreed or certified. However, most school districts want to hire someone who can be used in a teaching capacity as well.

 10.
Did Thomas play last night?
No, he did not play.
 11.
Score?
the final was 105-25. Silsbee played zone entire 2nd half.

With that said, the unfortunate thing is that to win a state title these Silsbee kids have to go to Kountze!!
Ashton was not a Silsbee kid lol I grew up playing Little Dribblers with him
OK, I won't give the exact address here but I KNOW it was on 3rd street in SILSBEE that the kid lived on during his 7th - 12th grade school years. But like Dove, I will try and leave that alone because everyone knows why the the kid was denied the ability to play at his "home school" and it had nothing to  do with him transfering for athletic reasons. (Everybody in Kountze and Silsbee that is) :-X
 14.
Ok, I was at the game last night and I thought that both teams played with a lot of heart and effort. I believe that there were times when Woodville played well and there were times when Silsbee played well. Howeber, I do agree that the game was a little sloppy on both sides, but that is to be expected this early in the season. As for #5 for Woodville, I believe that he is a 4 year starter for Woodville and the kid has a lot of heart. I believe that the Woodville team has a chance to be good if they continue to work hard. On, what was deal with the Woodville Coach never standing up and coaching during the game? Good luck to both teams.  I really enjoyed watching you play last night.
The Woodville coach was seatbelted by a technical foul called for his players attempting dunks in pre-game in the presence of officials.
 15. It is not a rule even in jr. high. Most jr. high coaches make a decision about either running the clock in the fourth qtr or calling off the press in that qtr with a twenty pt lead as a courtesy based on the talent or ability of the losing team to come back and make it a game. It is a feel developed over time and the losing coach usually requests the running clock with the winning coach usually accepting. (unless the other school was deemed guilty of running up the score in another sport) ;)
