If a pass is thrown and "presumably" intercepted than a call has to be made. They can't just blow the whistle and immediately huddle up, that would cause an even bigger stink. How would you feel if there was a close play at first base and after watching it the first base umpire makes no call and immediately jogs to home plate to talk it over? You would be infuriated. Umpires use EVERYTHING they see, including physical context clues, to make the best call they can. If one of their partners got a better look at it then he can help him out. We are all guilty of getting on officials about bad calls, myself included, but 99% of them are not out there in malice. And I agree with the Barbay quote, if the officials keep you from winning theres a pretty good chance you wouldn't have won anyway.
Are you sure about the Barbay quote, Remember the Packers vs. Seatle.
Yes I'm sure. Rogers was sacked 8 times and settled for field goals in the redzone twice and then missed a 2 point conversion. They obviously weren't as superior a team as they may have thought. 4 quarters of poor play made the game close and opened the door for seattles catch/interception to win the game. The call at the end of the game wasn't the determinant for the ENTIRE game.

 3.
No, Shepherd is not on the same level as those teams. So... is Tarkington on the same level as Shepherd?
Never said they were or weren't. Just found it interesting that when someone mentioned how tough the defense is in cleveland and coldspring that you felt like shepherd belonged in that same conversation. I would have to say that tarkington has a better chance of getting their offense going against the pirates than they have in the last two weeks. You are more than welcome to disagree, that's what forums are for. . .JMO
 4.
So does that mean Shepherds defense is not good?
Are you puttin shepherd on the same level with cleveland and coldspring?
 5. Splendora is supposed to have a soccer team now, maybe they have a kicker  ::)

Coldspring, huffman, cleveland. Tarkington is just one year premature and no one else in this district will play with the indians (excluding coldspring and huffman of course)
ALL questions huh? Oh what a can or worms.......anybody got a final?
Yes questions. . .are you saying that Cleveland would be a sure thing after Liberty hung 20 on them in the fourth quarter last year? Just saying that Tarkington is a better team than last year and for Cleveland to put 51 on them it just legitamizes the caliber of their team for me. I guess you are entitled to your own opinion, but for me it put some clarity on the district standings.

 8. I'm a realist. . .I believe the Horns have come a long way over the last 3 years, but a 60 year slump is a tough hurdle to overcome. If they execute their game plan and the ball bounces their way a few times then there is a possibility they win this game. Cleveland is definitely not (at least this year) what I would consider a "powerhouse" football program. But they always get up to play Tarkington. Should be an exciting one!
 9.
I just typed a long thought out thread that my computer erased because of an update. I'm very ticked by it all so here's the short version. Insane, absolutely insane. Really Tarkington?! Yeah, Tarkington could when this game, only because anything is possible. It wont happen, it's that simple. They will be competitive at times and I don't expect a fifty point win but Cleveland will win by three td's. Look, Tarkington has beat three teams that have combined for three wins. There loss came to a Hardin Jefferson team that didn't even convert a first down against Cleveland's frst string defense in their scrimmage. So everybody on the prairie just cool your jets, because Friday is going to be a long night. Just enjoy what will be one of your better seasons in a while. Beat Cleveland? No.
IMO tonights game is going to be a good one. I don't think it will be anything like the blow outs that have been predicted. However, the one thing I do know is that if Tarkington does pull out a "W" 15/16 will be back on here with a mile long list of reasons why the Indians beat themselves because there is no one in this district that can outright beat the tribe  ::)
 10. Between the injuries and the coach bashing Liberty may not win a single district game. If it is happening on the boards it's probably 10 times worse in the homes. When there is this much turmoil surrounding a team it gets harder and harder every week to go out and give it your best effort. I would love to give a great "rah rah" speech about how resilient the HS athlete is, but the problem is they're only kids and they can only take so much before they crumble. Good luck to the Panthers this year and hopefully these kids and the coaching staff will start getting some encouragement from the home front. Splendora - 21 Liberty - 13
 11. Soooo . . . did HookEm's "game changer" get to play tonight? (serious question, not just sarcasm) If so I can't wait to hear what he has to say about tonights game.  WOW! I am shocked. I didn't expect them to win, but I did expect  a little bit better game.
 12. So is it just the curse of high school sports that if a team wins "the players are incredible" and if a team loses "the coaches are terrible"???
 13. I just stand at attention. . .its a military thing, force of habit
