Just in case anyone wanted to know here is how the tourney played in Orange turned out. Orange #1 beat Port Arthur (22-1) and Vidor beat Orange #2 (Sorry I don't have the score) Port Arthur defeated Orange #2 (Don't have the score) and Orange #1 beat Vidor 15-5. Vidor beat Port Arthur 10-1 in a game Monday night highlighted by two different lightning delays of 30 minutes) Orange #1 and Vidor met in the championship bracket in a game that started immediately after the Vidor-P.A. game and started around 9:30 pm Orange jumped out to a 2-0 lead and led until the Vidor team tied the game at 8-8 in the top of the 7th. Orange managed to get a runner on via a single and he came home on a walkoff single to give the Orange #1 a 9-8 hard fought victory ending about 11:45 pm. It was a great, great game to watch and a shame either team had to lose. The good thing is that both advance to the tournament in Sour Lake. Congratulations to all the kids that made All-Stars on all the teams. Congratulation to the section champions Orange #1

Practice hows it looking so far?

I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that the white team will be ready. The twins step up to Stallions this year hopefully..but dying to come out and see all of you. We miss the program. Good luck. -
My friend, I thought you were always warmed up. LOL
-
Thanks for the compliments QueenB, Gary will be just fine in the future. Sometimes my kids are just too nice on the field lol. Aaron is a load but Darren needs to bulk up. There are so many kids off that team that are going to be very very good...another small but awesome player I would also mention is the Tezano kid, he is going to be a chip off the old block. Also, Quebodeaux (I hope I spelled that right). I think the junior high coaches are going to be very pleased in the next few years as Mustang tradition just gets better.

Sometimes being team mom is HARDER than actually coaching them boys lol. Looking forward to seeing him get better and better on the football team. The boys hope to be playing 7th grade football next year but if they dont make the team they hoep to be back under Coach Rod's watchful eye. At any rate even if we don't we will be out there to root Gary on. thanks Dragon. He chose BCLL again this year because of Mr. Elmore. He really wanted to play one last time for Mr. Elmore but because he wasn't able to make the tryouts, his name was "put in the hat". He's just excited to start playing again. i think he could play 24/7 if I let him. He'll be too busy next year when he hits high school to play on Pony League because not only has the baseball coach said he wants him on the team but the soccer coach has approached us also. He hasn't played soccer in several years but I guess it's like riding a bicycle: you never forget how to do it. Oh well, see YOU on the football field in a few months. I can already say this: My days as team mom are over. ;D I just wanna be a spectator jumping up and down and yelling at the kids to "run run run" and blowing the air horn for my kids (which includes mine, yours, and everyone else on the team!) Sports ... you gotta love em!
-
Queen, sorry we won't be seeing them in the Orange league but goodluck to ya'll in BC.
-
I can assure you, I am not his dad....and our team played against KJ, he is very, very good. Moves and fast. I can tell you at least 3 or 4 players off of West Orange Junior Blue (and I hope possibly at least one of my sons could be included in this total one day) who will be excellant and the possibility of several more.
-
Td: Sorry you and yours won't be there, you will be sorely missed. I love the way your teams played and were coached. No league is perfect, like I said my only complaint is the primary All-Star team should have had several deserving players form the second team instead of more than two players off of the same team (at least according to my info, I admit I don't know this for a fact). Minor complaint really, the league is the best and we have enjoyed our experience. However, it won't be the same without you. There hasn't ever been an all-star team picked anywhere that someone didn't like it. I would say if that's your only complaint then the league is doing something right. We are going to miss yall this year but at least we will give someone else a chance to win a championship. ;D
-
Queenie: If you have any questions about OYBS feel free to call me. This is our third year out there and we have enjoyed the experience. I think it is kinda natural that a coach tends to lean towards kids that they are familar with, it happens every sport and every level. I know your kids are certainly capable to come in and play with anyone. In two years the only complaint I have had was how the all-star team was picked. Hope to see ya'll out there.
-
I know my kids would love to try to play select. However, being a single dad who works every weekend evening from October thru July and not having enough money for my kids to travel or a way to get them there, league play is all we have. It is shame that we can't have the talent in league play also. Concessions need to be done by the leagues.
-
I knew we had a team but didn't know they actually played...GO STANGS.
-
Any price break to those who (tried to) play fall ball?
-
Hey if we keep playing in December the skates might come in handy as well lol. You may be on to something with that super bowl thing since you have +2/-1... I guess it's a good thing I got myself a plan for next year. I call it the Tonya Harding Offense... Simple really. I figure I'll just let my boys keep their equipment from baseball season... lol
-
I think you have to win the super bowl to get karma lol...just kidding, I wished I knew as well. As for as what the other gentleman said about us in a panic, just to let him know we will panic when we stop winning lol. Well said Dragon. I don't think anyone is going to throw the red chalenge flag on us for getting all three teams to the Sperbowl. I bet next year when we win all three we'll be taking heat from all directions though. Have nothing but respect for your players and coaches. By the way: What is Karma and why don't I have more of it? I'm having to check twice before I cross the street now... Somebody give me some good Karma. >

Well said Player!

I was at the weigh in for WO-S Junior Blue also and I can personally vouch they EVERY kid was weighed and MET the weight. You know I can understand why people are kinda jealous of our program because we win. Hey, why not insinuate that Lumberton is doing something wrong? I mean they had teams in all THREE divsions in the Super Bowl. When foolish people say foolish things guess what people think of them? I respect every kid and coach in this league. I expect the same in return.
-
You are exactly right on that..however, you can get an transmitter, battery pack, and antennae that would allow what we call in the business as an ENG (Electronic News Gathering) camera to roam free without cables. I don't know if they can afford this or not. It would be great to have so then the camera could roam free and without cables. To be honest, the video was for the kids anyways not the crowd. It would have been nice to have the Raider cheerleaders to come over at least at the half so they could be on camera also.

Another Smart Move (Yea) By The WOS School Board
Txdragon replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
TD, you gave me a great idea...let the school board put it on a ballot and let the people decide. I understand what the board is trying to do. A school board looks out for the BEST interests of the kids in OUR community. Is this really the BEST interests of the community? I have chosen to keep my kids in the WO-S district unlike many others who flee to LC-M, Orangefield, or BC. I am single parent with twin boys, my mother really don't see very well to drive at night and helps bring the kids places in the daytime because I work evenings. My kids are honor students and want to play junior high ball next year and will probably at least try to play all three sports. So, now I have a problem, do I a) quit my job and get on welfare don't allow my boys to play sports when they MIGHT be the next Jason Witten or Jeff Bagwell (this community took a lot of pride in the accomplishments of Kevin Smith, Chris Cole, and many others) or c) allow a 78 year old woman behind the wheel almost every night. Before someone jumps on me just kidding about the welfare, but if I made any less that might not be such a stretch. At any rate, the athletic program at WO-S is bare bones as it is and has seen every sport except football in decline. If the school board thinks this will INCREASE the student graduation rate or move new students into the district they are MISTAKEN. The cost of about $36,000 if you believe their figures would be about a $3-4 dollars a year (probably less) to taxpayers. I, for one, would pay 4 extra dollars. I hav enot heard the baord say where this money that is being saved will be spent. I can't assume it would be spent on academics. As a former city councilman, I always voted for what was the BEST interests of my community, and I believe that the school board should do the same. Either the district is almost bankrupt and they are not saying or they are NOT serving the best interests of the community. The fact that other districts do not has no bearing whatsoever in this case. Just because someone else is jumping off the bridge is no sign that it is the right thing to do. I haven't heard one tax payer complaining. It keeps kids off of the street and in school then it's worth it. -
It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog.

Lol, yeah I think ya'll faked out not only us but the camera crew several times. ;D ;D ;D

After our only loss of the season we had kids crying also..here is what I told them before they went through the line to shake hands. If an opponent can see you crying then they beat you both physically and mentally. Don't give them the satisfaction, come out hard and more determined the next time you play them. If they beat they beat you, after all it is a game and games are meant to be fun. -
Every TV station and newspaper in the area should be concerned. Where is the public service? We should all complain to the F.C.C..

Working in Tv production and managing the crew at Delta Downs, I can tell you this is no small feat covering a football game. I loved the pole shot of the sideline huddle in the junior game. The announcers needed to know the scoring system on the extra points. There were a few ground shots on the junior game had you had the time to edit could have been taken out. But for such a quick tournaround I thought the finished product was excellant and I doubt that it could have been better done. I loved the slow-mo shots. To be nitpicky, you could hear people talking in the background in the audio and I know had I been on the Lumberton side I would have wanted some shout outs to the crowd and their cheerleaders. Overall, I would say very well done. Hope ya'll come back next year.

LR 33 you sir have class as does your kids and your organization. It is a shame some on this board does not. I watched the tape and graded my sons performance. I thought the refs did a pretty good job. They were right on the call in the endzone when the Raider receiver dropped the ball (I thought it was a TD from the sideline). I was on the sideline with the coaches interference penalty and it was the right call even thought the ref was on the other side of the field. We complained about 12 men on the field, and I must admit the tape is inconclusive on that one so I will assume the refs got that one right as well. They got the facemask penalty on us right. I kinda thought on the opening kickoff that the Raider player that recovered the kickoff was offside. After examining the tape I thought the refs made the right call on that play as well (and that was a tough call as well). To be honest, I thought it was the best game by the refs we had been involved in the entire year. Thank God the weather or the refs did not decide the outcome of the game. If your gonna question the refs give us examples please. I like your comments LTRIAN. This is sooo common in sports, mainly youth sports. I am not from Lumberton or WOS, so my view is totally neutral and my son has moved on from youth sports. Anytime a team loses, there are excuses, there are complaints about sportsmanship, and most of all they are not really understanding the feeling of the team the is victorious. When you when a big game there is excitement for the team and the fans are celebrating, NOT RUBBING IT IN. I have been a winner in big games and losers in big games. Win I win, I have mt own way to celebrate. When I lose I tip my hat and say good game, and do not take there celbration personal. Gorwn ups need to grow up, let fans have there day with their team/kids. By the way, WOS is a class organization. I would love to play WOS as much as possible in any sport. It makes my team better. I am the Head coach of Lumberton Pee Wee White and just got turned on to this site. I would first like to say I am so proud of my little guys for the game they played. I asked them to leave it all on the field and that they did. The bad thing is, so did those little mustangs. My teams played there hearts out, and not just my studs(#20, #5), but all 26 kids did. There all studs in my eyes. I have always told my kids if you want to be the best you have to beat the best. And we gave it all we had. Congrates to the WOS kids, coaches, and parents. You all have a lot to be proud about. I thought the kids and coaches were very respectful to my kids and me. Hats off to all of you. We wish we could control everthing everybody says and does like we do our kids on the field but that's impossible. But all that matters is that my team and me know that we just played a team that played a LITTLE better than us that day. By the way my offence is called the squat wing, but I like the Snoop Dog a lot better. I think His CD is in my truck CD changer right now. I just hope everybody can see the talent that all SouthEast Texas has. One commet to VP 93, most of these commits are not wrote by coaches. I had my TEAM PREPARED. Once again great game to both teams. And we will be back next year, cant wait to play the best. Go RAIDERS!!! I will say it again , so if you didn't here me the first time. When the game is over there will always be a winner and a loser. We can always make excuses about everthing, but were does that get you in life? I talked to the Jr. Coach and we both agree we LOST. GAME OVER. DVDs are to enjoy in the future not to critique the past. "If its and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas." What lessons are we teaching our kids by making excuses? I always tell my kids when we lose are just mess up "God doesn't get mad when you fall down just only when you don't get back up." Great game WOS in both games. With that said, GAME OVER!!!!!!
