I wasn't there so I don't know but helping out coaching the blue team I know that on at least three occasions we have had kids with the same "problem" with other teams. It was an accident I am sure and as coaches and players we took it that way. No admittedly not three in the same game. I will say one thing all the kids involved SHOULD be wearing cups and as parents that is one sure way to protect them from that.

By the way let me say one thing being a newcomer on this board and to the STJFL. The league takes a lot of hits on this board and a lot of derogeratory comments are made about it. I for one, am thankful for this league and the experience it has given my kids. I think the STJFL is one fine organization. If not for it, then what?

I understand what your saying and you make a good point. I disagree but respect your opinion. I think practice running the same plays that you would in high school gives you about several years experience and easier comfort level when you do get into high school. Good luck to you and your program over the years. It really is just a difference of opinions. Some believe as you do, that they should run whatever the varsity is running. Others believe you should primarily teach how to win and everything that entails and choosing the offensive formation should be left to the head coach to decide. Personally, I've seen more success down through the years with the latter approach, but if your approach works - great.

Junior Blue in a low scoring hard hitting contest-either way these guys will be teammates eventually and at least one Mustang team in the Super Bowl guarenteed. Shame it could not be both because I think it would have been a great show lol.

I remember one game this year my sons come off the field saying the other team was "trash talking". I don't let my boys trash talk because all it does is lead to anger and hard feelings. My advice to them, "Hit them harder and harder, when they stop trash talking you know you hit them hard enough." That is part of the game. i was serious. Of course, my idea of trash talking is probably not what a lot of people consider it. Trash talking to me is: "I'm gonna knock you to the ground" "You won't get passed me" "I'm gonna get you" "Better be scared of me" etc. It does not include calling names, cursing, or threats of severe bodily harm. As a matter of fact, just so those who play against my son's team (WOS Jr. Blue): they get into trouble by Coach Rod and personally, my son would get into trouble by me and his dad, if they tackle someone on the field and is rude about if afterwards. They are taught to be good sportsmanlike about the whole thing. To have someone who actually says that his/her child does not "fight" and yet their child is on a hard hitting football team (and I have yet to see a team that is NOT hard hitting), that just struck me wrong due to the fact that the kids do "fight" when they play football. How else do they come away from the games bruised up and sore all the time? Now, if you really want my opinion about this ADULT fighting: shame on each and every one of them. I don't care if they are from BC or Lumberton or WO or LCM or anywhere THAT WAS JUST PLAIN STUPID AND IRRESPONSIBLE! They all should be punished for their stupidity. Lifetime ban? I think that is harsh. But then again, I don't know exactly what was said to each other. When I was told by a person who WAS there that the people of BC was called Hurricane Trash, that ticked me off and my immediate response was to become angry .. and I don't even live in BC. At the same time, I cringed when I saw the video and all I saw was fist flying from the BC people. Again, Shame on everyone involved in this sad, sad situation.

You know just the way I was raised and I have won awards as a sports journalist and I will be the first to stick up for freedom of speech. However, people who a) insult or ridicule others or want to "stir things up" just to create controversy and satisfy their poor opinion of the human condition should really get a life in my opinion. Nothing wrong with humor and friendly poking and prodding and it is easy for mere words to be misintrepreted on here. If you can't say good game to the team that beats you and have the confidence to stay that you believe in your team enough to believe they can beat anyone on a given day then what are you doing here posting to begin with.

I think it is effective at this level because it is unsual, it is confusing, and the plays hit the line of scrimmage very fast and limits the defense's penetration. We faced this offense and although it was not Lumberton's we were effective after the first quarter shutting it down. However, is this the type of offense they will run in junior high and high school? Doubtful. Should this not prepare these kids for the kind of offensive (and defensive) formations they will experience later in life than just geared to success now? I think part of West Orange's success is continuity. We run the same offensive plays and formations within limitations that the high school kids run. Hopefully this will help our kids when they do get to that level.

I wasn't at the game so I probably should not comment at all on anything but I am stupid and feel like I should. I can't say for a fact but I seriously doubt that anyone from WO would be cussing at the kids, I have sat with some of these parents and coaches before our game. Second of all, what is a bomb at this level? It is not like the kids can throw the ball 50 yards into the endzone. Could it have been a 10 yard pass turned into a bomb by an outstanding run? Could it have been an attempt at a first down or show scouts for the next game that you can pass the ball to give them something to think about? Just speculation on my part OK, don't jump all over me lol? The fact is Vidor feels that slighted and you can't change that. If you don't like it there is next year and you can do it to them if you can. One thing I do know about sports, what goes around comes around. If someone is due something it usually comes a callin'. In sports there are winners and losers and my sons team has experienced both this year. Football is often equated with war, I don't think a war is fought not to win decisively. I was always taught growing up to not complain if they are running up the score but take it out on the field, if not that game then next time. In the wake of the fighting incident I am sorry that anyone feels this way. To be honest in the grand scheme of things, it IS just a game.

The FACT is the fight happened, The FACT is it WAS news, the FACT is the media will cover news stories, the FACT is there will probably be a follow up report as that is what reporting is all about. Sad that it happened in the first place for all involved. It certainly should nto have happened, but don't blame the media for doing their jobs. Now that being said the STJFL playoffs is a big local event with a lot of interest. Both broadcast and print media SHOULD be covering it. Shame on them if they are not because the FACT is: IT IS NEWS.

we will find out if they are ready for us lol...Who knows guess we will see in two weeks. Anyone have any scores from the other side of the bracket? Just a note about the Vidor kids, they ALWAYS play with a lot of heart.

West Orange-Stark Junior Blue-25 Bridge City-0.....100% better effort than the Kountze game but we still have not played our best from wire to wire. Proud of everyone, great effort and very very cold at 8am.

On the way to today's game..no matter what the outcome I wanted to say a Special thanks to all of the coaches of the team. Thanks Coach Robertson for having the faith in my boys, teaching them so much, and especially giving them the opportunity. And while I am on it let me thanks the coaches of ALL the West Orange teams, I think they all are outstanding.

When the twins played baseball all-stars there was admission for that as well. Since, I was not at the practice can anyone tell me how much it is? I am assuming it is like baseball also with the players getting in free?

IN the end, all the coaches will NOT be terrorists, none will be an ex-astronaut wearing a diaper..the league, the kids, the media, and the coaches will move on and when we all get old and have Alzhemier's or if the world ends in 2012 (whichever comes first) this won't matter very much. Sad that it happened, but it is a fact in life in sports sometimes good men get in bad situations. Doesn't make it right and it should be punished, but in the end it is just another grain of sand in the beach of life. Let's not make it the same level as global warming.

It is a shame for everyone involved, in the end you have to remember IT IS JUST A GAME. I feel sorry for both coaches, their families, their teams, and the league. Not the way you want to make the news for sure. I hope everything works out.

I don't know if I can help with Kountze or not, we didn't tackle at all. They have an outstanding running back with speed, power, and attacks the defender. He even facemasked one of our defenders on a big run (thought the refs did not see it). They prefered the edge on us, though perhaps because we did not have some kids that came to play on one side. Not sure we really tested their defense because of the wind we could not throw the ball and our main offensive weapon did not hardly play the second half. That being said they are above average size, above average speed overall, and I think one of the better coached teams that we have seen. It would be an excellant test for you for sure or any team in the league I believe. I hate the quat down offense by the way, I just don't think it teaches the kids anything for the upper level.

You got that right for sure, I am a little concerned how the cold is gonna affect the kids. I know last week against Kountze we basically could not pass because of the wind. We tend to run a wide open offense so that really hurt us. Overall we just did not play well and ran into a team that is an excellant team and made matters worse. I know that they will surprise some people in the other bracket for sure. I have the utmost respect for BC kids and coaches and have rooted for ya'll in other games. Wished I could this one also but I can't lol. I know your coaches had to do a tremendous job after what your team has been through and holding everything together. It is tremendous tribute to your coaches, kids, and parents that your here. Well i guess you already know the out come of your game vs BC or maybe you dont .... ;D :P :-* :-* :-* :-* Well just had to stir the pot a little iam also a WOS Grad in 98 but i coach in BC now and it should not be hard to figure out who i am so come see me sat and i think the way the seeding and wildcard is not right. For instance we were 3 and 1 in division play vidor black was 1 and 3 before last Saturday and we beat them in division play, but there non conference games they had won so there overall record was one win better than ours.. So all and all we had to win sat which we did to make playoffs i think all of this should be reconsidered during off season because it would have not been right if we would have lost to have a better division record than some one and we would go home..Any way i have nuttin but love for WOS once a mustang allways a stang except my sons team good luck sat its gonna be a little chilly.... ;D ;D ;D

It is a shame that the voters never GOT that information or perhaps the vote might have been the other way. I think that most voters just assumed it was a LUXERY. It is a shame this information did not get out, at least that I heard.

May the best team win and no one gets hurt. I know ya'll have had a rough season with everything going on and I am so happy that your in the playoffs. Wish you weren't in our bracket. Good luck to you, I am not gonna comment on the refereeing in our game with them but it didn't help us that one of our best players was out the entire second half and they beat us with 18 seconds left. I would have loved to have played them again, but we take it one game at a time. I do know this is the hardest hitting practices we have had all year. So we will see how they play out. I dont know if its the same team that we played last year in PeeWee then we should beat em (we killed em 49-7) even if its not then DL will put us in the position to win all the kids have to do is carry it out

you got that right, our information was wrong as KOUNTZE IS the division three champions. I still don't see how rules can be applied to one level with two divisions and another with three. I know that high school has district games and the non-district games don't count, still don't think it is right. I congratulate Kountze as they ARE the Champs. I just don't think it is right as this level but maybe I am just a misformed first year guy. Had I known the facts I would have never posted what I did. Believe me the WHOLE team is upset like a wild pack of hornets. The Kountze kids came out and outplayed us and deserved the win. Either we will come out and lay down for Bridge City or I would hate to play us. We will see what happens. For the record when i posted I honestly believed that we were champs. If you have a problem with me I would be more than happy to meet you somewhere and discuss it. Geez, get a life lol. IF you beat us I will congratulate you and if we win I will stay say good job to you. I am not like some on here. We will be prepared.
