  1. I dont think I've ever stated who matches up with who etc....I think in some years Katy matches up with anyone obviously (2015)....but I dont think it can be ignored that the vast majority of Katy's success comes when they are D2 either....its all factual context to paint the picture...I think its pretty clear the past few years where the power in 6A has been and Katy has probably been on the fringe of that power nexus Now I personally believe Duncanville has been better than Katy in 2018, 2019 and 2021....2020 I think you could make a good case for Katy, especially late in the year when they were peaking......but every year is its own story and what happened in 2015 or 1998 or 2010 doesnt mean anything going into this year
  2. I certainly hope not!
  3. Just for the record the vast majority of Katy's titles and appearances have come in Division II, not Division I which is where Duncanville and North Shore always live. Only in 1994 when they lost to Plano 28-7 and in 1997 when they beat Longview 24-3 was Katy in Division I. The next twelve title game appearances (and seven titles) have all come in D2
  4. Agree Westlake especially up front is IMO better than anyone in Texas (at least they were in 2021) add in a few D1 kids sprinkled in at the skill spots and boom you have a juggernaut
  5. TexanLive and DCTF are still two seperate subscriptions at this point but send an email to be sure
  6. I'd lean more to early August at this point for magazines in stores, if you are a subscriber and have not recieved your magazine email [email protected]
  7. I also dont feel great about SLC over Duncanville, but that'll play itself out....Westlake/North Shore I think its gonna be universal Westlake #1 simply because of how dominant they were last year..but I was at the 2020 game vs North Shore and I thought North Shore was the better team I dont know what to think of Katy right now....but going D2 most likely certianly puts them in a nice position
  8. I could see Tascosa over Cooper, just saying 2-5A D1 goes 5 deep..someone that's pretty good is going to miss.... Manvel needs to keep an eye on Angleton, I think they are going to be sneaky good... College Station's stud backup RB transferred to Decatur, they'll still be good but I'm not sure top ten good especially against that schedule...they will more than have their hands full in the opener against Lovejoy
  9. I personally feel College Station, Manvel and Tascosa are way over-ranked...Tascosa is going to struggle to make the playoffs IMO this year...that district they are in is brutal
  10. I tried to DM it to you but it said you cant receive messages
  11. I think when you get past the top 3 in 5A-D1 there are questions all over the place....
  12. I think you are right in that regard, it was doubtful NRG would ever get the games back because if its location so they had the UIL over a barrel...
  13. Part of the reason NRG doesnt host as mentioned is the stadium is owned by Harris County..so make that what you want AT&T is owned by the Cowboys and by Jerry Jones, who loves HS Football and has always been very welcoming of hosting games at old Texas Stadium and AT&T Stadium and the rent, especially when playing 3 games is pretty cheap...he's gonna make his money on parking and concessions.... However AT&T only hosted the state games last year, they didnt host any other playoff games if memory serves...they use the Ford Center for most of the HS games now.... As for the state games, NRG made good money on that deal...they knew they had the UIL by the throat because of the NFL screw-up and they charged the UIL for it..but the UIL didnt forget about that either.... Attendance at those games was low partly because the DFW teams that played didnt bring good crowds, but in DFW the neutral locals also show up in huge numbers.....neutral locals didnt show up in NRG at all...Katy people showed up...for the Katy game, but that was it..hell more North Shore people have come to Dallas three years than went to NRG that year ,lol
  14. Diboll is the team I'm looking out for...I think we really underrated them
  15. There's a bit of new blood from last year pre-season....thing about 2A-D1 is all the major players from last year bring back the house...will be tough for a new face to break through
  16. #1, #2 and #7 in the same district....whew!!!! China Spring has a big question mark at QB..going to be interesting how they handle the move up to D1 and the grind of a tough schedule where more teams will be able to wear em down I personally feel we over-ranked Calallen and Celina but the computer loves those two
  17. As said, zero chance King would play willingly at Lufkin...SFA yes...Lufkin is not a no...its a HELL NO...Longview woud flip Shreveport or Tyler for Houston before going to Abe Martin lol
  18. Ryan didnt have much depth last year and its even less this year...You are correct abour Ryan's defense still being strong but Longview did put 33 up on them in the playoffs so clearly the Lobos took big steps forward primarily IMO due to improvement on the OL, which returns mostly intact. I'd give Longview the edge over Ryan at WR, I'd give Longview the edge over Ryan at RB (each team has a 4-star stud, but Longview is much deeper there)...obviously Longview's OL gets the edge over Ryan...Longview's QB played a lot last year and struggled, mainly because I think he had a senior looking over his shoulder, he seems much more confident this year and according to the staff he's made major strides....Ryan's front seven gets a big edge over Longview IMO (thats where Longview has the most questions), but the gap between the two secondaries isn't as big as one would think...Longview's back four has some really talented young kids... Teams dont beat Longview four times in a row often, I'm playing the odds here in my personal rankings and giving Longview the edge over Ryan in a potential semifinal....and at least in the pre-season rankings, the computer agrees
  19. All rankings are a guess.....there's a lot that goes into them, past performance, returning starters, pedigree of program and coach and there's some hunches/feelings that go into it as well...its not a perfect science but we tend to do ok... as for Hirschi..I think people forget just how close they were to beating Stephenville in the semifinals last year...we are talking about a team that went 12-3 last year...is moving down to D2 in Region I and they return a dozen starters...if their Coach doesnt take the Coppell job and take his son who was the leading returning tackler with him, I think Hirschi would be ranked #2.... Silsbee is more of a guess because they were average last year, but sixteen starters back, including a large number of juniors who played as sophomores we felt pretty good about the Tigers, especially considering their recent playoff pedigree
  20. [Hidden Content] We'll be broadcasting Thursday starting at 1pm from Fields 7 and 8 in College Station
  21. I was at the first Longview-Ryan game and a young Longview team got some hard lessons in Week 1...the second meeting was much more competitive obviously as a young Longview squad improved a ton during the year... Going into 2021; Ryan lost a lot (44 seniors) and their junior and sophomore classes are pretty average so a team that already lacked depth is really going to be pushed this year.... Longview is the exact opposite, the senior class that just graduated is pretty average for their standards & they are replacing those guys with a junior class thats loaded...its a group that we've been hearing about in these parts for a couple of years...add that group to a mix that already returned 14 starters and 40 lettermen and there you have it...
