  1. I think the UIL kinda liked 3, but it made for uneven brackets with D1 finishing a week earlier......
  2. Chapel Hill was 4th in their district....we are never going back to two or even three playoff teams..there's zero chances schools or coaches would support reducing their chances of making the playoffs
  3. More teams in the playoffs does mean more money generated for the UIL becasue a portion of the playoff gate does go to the UIL......but lets also remember football money helps fund pretty much every other championship activity that the UIL puts on that doesnt make money..ie academic competitons, one-act play, smaller sports etc
  4. You dont get a trophy for playing in the playoffs...you gotta win that playoff game to get one
  5. Actually asked the UIL about that part and they said right now the majority of 4A and below schools do not want to host in Rd 1
  6. I'd rather 10 teams w/losing records make the playoffs than one unbeaten team miss the playoffs...and I'd definitely prefer to not see games decided on penetrations on God forbid first downs...but thats just me
  7. I didnt see that update...magazines are currrently printing but won't be in stores until first week of August [Hidden Content]
  8. Listening to this interview now...love how Coach Crumedy addresses some of the misconceptions about Jasper
  9. Lone Star is also going to start seeing their depth get sliced into with the opening of Panther Creek HS which is almost exclusively pulling from Lone Star
  10. Coach Poth is my GUY....great dude.....known him since his days at Sul Ross
  11. A well maintained grass field is preferred but thats often not realistic at the HS level....so unless you can be like Alice and have professionally maintained grass, turf is more practical especially when you factor in the wear and tear of junior high and sub-varsity games added in....I've seen some awful grass fields across our state because schools cant afford properly maintain them
  12. I feel like this tweet is pretty concrete...just saying
  13. He has a similar talent pool but not the same....namely he doesnt have a 5-star QB running the offense...there will be a drop off with Westlake's offense IMO w/o question, now I think the defense is still good enough to get the job done.....Salazar still has to prove himself, yes and its different being the man in charge, but this is going to be much different Westlake team than last year simply because of the QB spot
  14. Yes the computers like Carroll over DV and I dont see why honestly....Duncanville has physically whipped Carroll in 3 of the 4 meetings the past four years with the margin being 44, 14 and 26...pretty dominant if you ask me.....I'm just not super high on Katy going into 2022 at the moment but I think we'll know pretty soon about Katy because KISD overall is stronger than its been in a long time and with Westlake likely going D1 I think Katy could easily play for a title this year, which I think is more an indictment on D2 in Reg 3 and Reg 4 right now in 6A
