  1. No you're right...IMO it is wild..its a lot...I dont care for it, maybe that's less subtle and clears it up. But as I've said my personal opinion on the matter isn't important, I'm a big believer in local control when it comes to schools and if that's what PNG wants to do then that's their prerogative...
  2. I honestly don't care where state is played. I'm going to be there regardless. Now do I think AT&T Stadium is the best Stadium in Texas for the games? Absolutely, but I'd be fine with a rotation...more hotel points for me.
  3. Me personally I wouldn't put my child in it...but not my child so much like with PNG"s mascot my opinion doesnt matter than much in that regard.
  4. Moving the games to San Antonio and Houston would be great for me personally. But we don't make those decisions lol
  5. And I am being sincere about asking for examples. I work very hard to cover the entire state and not show bias. But I'm also self aware enough to know that I could have blind spots, so if I have them I'd love to see those examples so I can be better next year
  6. We say crazy people with upmost sense of affection. The DFW bias thing is amusing to me, but I'll entertain it...what examples of DFW bias would you think that I've personally shown? I'm genuinely curious
  7. I'm also used to alienating fan bases, I do it 17 weeks a year lol
  8. I agree people are entitled to have an opinion about my opinion as well
  9. I dont "want" the PNG mascot...if that community wants to keep it thats their decision, I'm not a taxpayer there and have no ties there, but it also doesn't mean I'm not entitled to an opinion on it, as little as that opinion may factor into the grand scheme of things
  10. I agree that PNG did a good job early on and had the upper hand, but coaching is also about making adjustments and SOC was able to do that so as much as PNG was able to outscheme SOC early, SOC made adjustments
  11. SOC definitely made some adjustments defensively, they are really sound on that side and have been for a few years.....the DC is well regarded and has worked at places like A&M and Boise State.....when PNG was pulling they were able to outnumber SOC because they had schemed SOC well and appeared to have figured out some of their rules....SOC made one adjustment on the fly in the 2nd Qtr, but it left them vulnerable w/o a 3rd level defender and thats wheh Nguyen busted the long one down to the 3 and they made it 17-5. They cleaned getting outnumbered on the pull and then they made a change at LB that helped. SOC offensively isn't complex, but sometimes being simple is best....they didnt trust Little in the 10 personnel (4 wide 1 RB)packages all year and PNG had a great scheme to deal with SOC's running game when they were 20 (3 WR, 2 RB) ....so they decided to trust Little more and we saw more 10 personnel in the 2nd half.....
  12. SOC's 3 losses are to Duncanville, DeSoto and Lancaster
  13. From the cover story in this year's DCTF magazine: Jason Todd is South Dallas born and raised. He graduated from Dallas Lincoln and played under legendary coach Reginald Samples. Every day, Todd walks the hall on campus where the image of his grandfather, former SOC principal Frederick Todd, hangs above him, a constant reminder of his loyalty to the area. Ward is a Dallas Kimball graduate. Defensive line coach Dominic Spencer is a Dallas Skyline product. Running backs coach Keith Davis is a graduate of Dallas Hillcrest. You get the picture. There’s nothing they pride themselves on more than representing the area in which they were raised. Which makes the program’s nickname, given by Todd, all the more resonant — The Mecca. In the Muslim faith, Mecca is the birthplace of the prophet Muhammad, where the Islamic faith originated and where every Muslim is eventually called back to at least once in their life. “You had to pass through SOC because it was first in Oak Cliff and Oak Cliff is the biggest part of Dallas,” Ward said. “As everybody from Oak Cliff had spread, somebody within their roots, if they’re from Dallas, went to SOC: Granny, mama, uncle or whoever.” So basically what they were saying is SOC is the birthplace of what you see now in programs like Duncanville, DeSoto, Lancaster, Cedar Hill, etc....a ton of those players families are from Oak Cliff and have a tie to SOC in some way
  14. EXCEPTION: 1-4-5-a-2. Delete all of item 2 and replace with the following: 2. Other than the player’s number, the jersey may only contain: Player’s name, or, words that reflect positive values, such as “Honor”, “Integrity”, “Courage”, etc., substituted for the player’s name on the back of the jersey (by local district approval) School name Mascot name UIL Logo Sleeve stripes Logo for school, conference, mascot, postseason-game, memorial, the military Team slogan/acronym (by local district approval) The letter “C” to identify a Team Captain American flag State flag
  15. I figure this one before its all said and done will be close to a sellout
  16. Caught up with Coach Smith postgame and he definitely mentioned the OL improvement
  17. Miller is a great player, but I thought the Tech kid had very good coverage on him much of the night...Miller's first TD I think he did have a step on him, but Brisbane led him perfectly to let Miller go get it w/the step advantage... That 2nd TD was outstanding coverage, it was just a great throw into a tight window....I really enjoyed watching those two go at it.....two outstanding players
  18. I know when Coach Graham got hired as the OC there was a lot of talk (mostly negative) about the hire..interesting after an 11-2 season and a pretty good offense if those concerns have faded? I cant remember if the negativity came from Beaumont people or PA people who were worried but I definitely recall some concern
  19. Weather bug tells me 30% chance of rain during the day and clear in the evening
