  1. And say good bye to Angleton
  2. Let's welcome Lufkin into 9-5A D1
  3. heard that and maybe a guy from out west
  4. I know of at least one finalist...its been pretty quiet so far
  5. Heard the finalists are coming in next week for the final interview
  6. Sounds like calls for interviews have gone out and the interviews are starting this week
  7. We'll go live from the Birdville FAAC at 8:45am youtube.com/@DaveCampbellsTF
  8. 1) yes there are areas statewide where the coaches meet 2) no, media and coaches/admins only
  9. We will have a broadcast on DCTF on Thur AM
  10. Ahh ok I wasn't sure because the last part of purpleeagle's post was more regarding the UIL etc
  11. The problem w/UIL rules now and why things are a lot more murky IMO is when the state of TX basically opened the door for open enrollment...when they granted charter schools and forced the UIL to take them it basically gave the green light to ISDs to start admitting kids who didnt live in their attendance zones... UIL cant mandate a kid who doesnt live in an open enrollment ISD be ineligible for 4 years...they'd lose that court case quick, fast and in a hurry...hence the 365 rule "establishing residency"
  12. The administrative/rule making arm of the UIL is the legislative council....which is made up of the schools themselves...if the schools want the transfer rules changed then they have the ability to do so themselves.... I know some people want to go back to an automatice one-year sit out if a kid transfers...problem there is that already got overturned in the courts...UIL used to have that rule in place...its one of the few court cases the UIL's ever lost
  13. The young man in question isn't eligible at the moment...if the PAPF comes back clean, then by UIL rules he'll be eligible...if the PAPF isn't clean then we'll see a DEC hearing at minimum
  14. Lovejoy is not naming a coach tonight
  15. Most places I know have varsity tryouts and if you don't make it you are on JV/Freshman team...both teams may have 25/30 kids but they are part of a team so it's cool
  16. One extra kid in offseason isn't going to make or break things IMO.... I dont know many schools that cut in baseball, Maybe they do but I figure most just have subvarsity teams and try to split em up to play some...most coaches want more kids in athletics
  17. I've seen it done at 5A and above where they have athletic periods that are sport specific.... I know there's a 4A in DFW that has athletics for football, basketball and baseball...the kids that are sport specific stay in those sports all year and the multi-sport kids switch based on thr season
  18. Bingo...I would say I know more DFW coaches than Houston coaches since I live in DFW, but I've great relationships with a lot of Houston coaches and those get cultivated because I'm down in Houston fairly frequently
  19. I honestly didn't read through the post site is blocked in Canada so I'm only posting via phone so I probably just scanned through the post too quickly
  20. I think publicly the coaching staff has moved on, the grievance and game still being in the news is all DISD politics. The loss will absolutely be used as motivation with the team; I would not put anything past him or the coaches when it comes to what needs to be said regarding motivational tactics behind closed doors.
  21. I watched the interview with Grimes and Todd did say he didn't agree with the calls, (shocking a head coach not agreeing with close calls going against his team) and he said he didn't agree with the official that lives in Groves being on the crew...but if I recall he also said that was on him that he didn't research the crew thoroughly I don't recall him using the term rigged or robbed but its been several weeks since I watched the interview too
