I think kids back then just did stuff on their own or worked....kids these days are out in the heat a lot, its just in more organized settings, summer workouts, 7on7, private 1v1 training etc....its different but most HS Football players are on campus 3-4 hours a day much of the summer, lifting, running, doing sport specific work etc...that more than adds up for the time "lost" not doing two-a-days

I really dont think its needed now....the kids come in already in great shape because of summer SAC, yes back in the day they did two-a-days, but also kids didnt show up to the school in June-July...now kids are there 4 days a week most of June and for about half of July (there is a mandatory off-week during July 4th week and a lot of coaches are gone during coaching school)

I've never considered Liberty Hill a defensive juggernaut.....they've been successful because their offense has been borderline unstoppable for a good part of the past 15-20 years

SOC lost a lot especially on defense...Melissa brings back a lot (9 and 6) they are growing like crazy so they have depth and a couple of out of state move-ins that will contribute and they went toe to toe with SOC in a very physical game in the 4th round last year..it was 16-16 going into the 4th Qtr....SOC scored to take a seven point lead..Melissa drove down got in the red zone and turned it over on downs and then SOC put the dagger in with a minute left....its not far feteched at all to have Melissa over SOC IMO

Carthage is very hit and miss in 7on7.....its something with them I don't take a ton of stock in

Tough situation with the internet out there...not sure if we hadn't moved fields we'd even be able to broadcast...it was a disaster..no one's phones worked it took forever for tweets to go out etc...lol it was like 1995 all over again

Coach Willis wanted Coach Cameron, he's had a DPP/football ops type person at his last two stops, he has a defined role for the position and he values it

I do work for DCTF part-time so yes I do take it personal, we take pride in our work and expect to be the best. Thats the standard Mr. Campbell set on a kitchen table in Waco and that's the standard we try to uphold every day. Was the graphic being reposted incorrect? Absolutely...an intern screwed up and posted an old graphic that was over a year old...it was handled internally, we coached the intern and we appreciate you for bringing it to our attention!

Magazine cover will be revealed on Monday June 5 at noon on Texas Football Today

The 64th edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football went to press today at 4pm. Subscribers should expect their magazines to arrive in the mail starting the week of June 19. Magazines will be in retail outlets after July 4th. We plan on also having a few copies out at the Texas State 7on7 Tournament in late June.

The starting # we will work with in 5A/6A for our projections will be 2275 and then we'll work up or down accordingly
