Sounds like those guys need to be sent out there with a shovel and a load of dirt and start fixing what they messed up.  Preferably during the noon-4pm hours.  😈

You're pointing out anomalies in the state of Texas.  This point in an argument always bothers me.  People bring up teams that will always be in position to play in state championships to compare teams to.  On paper there are a lot of teams "demographically" that could compete with the teams you put up there.  In fact, look at the demographics of a place like Kingwood Park and College Park in Conroe and try and figure out why they aren't winning more football games.
I don't necessarily think you saying that to compare PNG to those schools, but I see that argument all over the place and it doesn't matter if PNG is tied to it or not.

I see a lot of people talking about Warren needs a coach that cares about the kids and such. That’s true. But one thing you need for a winning program is Athletes and talent. Not trying to burst bygones bubble Warren just hasn’t had that combination in football for a long time.

The main problem with all of this is Warren opening this late. Even if there was a change in a "reasonable" time table it was going to be hard to find someone with a proven track record that would want to come in and try to get something going but with it now being June 1st good luck.
Whoever ends up getting there, the community AND admin needs to understand realistic expectations and what Warren in is.

7 on 7 has to be the most overrated gauge to what teams are able to accomplish going into a season or to show what they've done in the off season.  It's good for competition, don't get me wrong, but isn't there a group of Hornets that won the 7 on 7 state championship but was lucky to win 4 games the next year?

I can guarantee you one thing, there is only one way for WH to dig themselves out of the hole they have fallen into and that is to hire someone that will demand the kids (regardless of sport) get in the weight room.

So you went with Buchanan and Surratt (check the spelling btw)?  That's interesting you'd bring those guys up in conversation.  Let me bring some other "big names" up and you tell me if they've won outside of the places that weren't already winning.  I'll even give you the schools they've been recently at.
Tom Westerburg (Barbers Hill via Allen)
Todd Dodge (SLC, College, Marble Falls, Westlake)
Rusty Nail (Mart [which is still winning state championships], Madisonville)
Don Willis (Won several state championships in Oklahoma, Garland Lake View Centennial)
Mike Spradlin (Temple, AD Magnolia, Rockwall Heath)
I'll even give you this one.  Michael Wall won state championships at Lake Travis and Temple as the offensive coordinator and he's the head coach at Willis right now.  He was even on staff at Lake Travis when they won the 1st state championship and he'll tell you (as well as the other guys on that staff) that it was the senior class that year that changed the dynamic of the culture there.  Look his record up at Willis and please tell me it's solely on coaching.  They got rid of a guy that somewhat kept Willis competitive to hire Wall too.
By your logic, or at least the things you're posting, winning is on coaching.  Why do you think the NFL and other professional sports leagues have "tanking" years?  They reinvest in their talent levels.  If it didn't come down to Jimmys and Joes why in the world do NFL executives make the comments they do about infusing their rosters with talent?
Sounds to me like someone needs to get into administration at Summer Creek so that they can be involved with the hiring and firing process.

And just because you have speed it doesn't mean you have the other pieces that go to the puzzle.  You've got to have the kids up front to be able to open things up or shut things down and I don't think they do especially for what they're going against in their district.

I would also take a look at the districts that those teams are in.  I'd also look at location as far as football goes to look at success.  I'm not taking away from the success those programs have had, but look at the road they've got to travel through the play-offs compared to some other schools like Summer Creek.

Elite track and field takes tons of skill. 6A track and field in Texas is elite. Period.
It does take major talent, but those sport coaches that don't take track coaching seriously, rarely have a TEAM at the state meet.
I assume you saw DK Metcalf get an extremely respectable 15th out of 17 against those "unskilled" track athletes yesterday. He's a beast, but nowhere close in terms of track skill, just as those sprinters would be on a football field. The country's top few sprinters weren't even in that 100m field. Track should not be compared to football.
Also, some of those SC kids are track only.

I think that's one of those places where you'll never have enough footballs to go around and expectations are state championships when the work ethic/commitment is mediocre.

My young man transferred to DHS from Mauriceville after 8th grade (Prouse's first year). My 14yr old 5'0" 98lb freshman was not allowed to compete because the UIL ruled that they couldn't prove he didn't move for athletic reasons 🤣.  He never missed a two-a-day or regular practice, Coach Prouse allowed him to practice, allowed him to dress and travel with his team. At kickoff, one of the assistant's would take his helmet (to ensure he'd never get on the field). Never missed a practice and never touched the field...all year long. I was extremely proud of him and his Coaches. Today, as a Senior, he was named 1st Team All-District WR and 1st Team All-District CB. Good things will come if you work hard enough for them. Extremely proud of my young man, his team and his Coaches. Go Pirates!

I’m going to come to yalls places of work and start a thread about how bad at your job you are on an Internet forum. These dudes have kids and families and lives to live. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say nothing at all. HD coaches love their students and love their jobs. I know must of them personally.

North Shore has 5,000 in high school; quite a few more to pick from. People always point to NS as the ONE example of a Hispanic dominated school that’s successful in football. Let me rain some truth on y’all; unless you’re in the valley, west Texas or El Paso, you’re not winning football games with a bunch of Hispanic kids. Period. It’s not happening. There are tons of glaring examples of once proud, competitive teams all over the state(Houston, DFW, and East Texas) that are now downtrodden because of the Hispanic takeover.

I have absolutely no clue what’s going on at Dayton, but if I was guessing I would say that Hispanics are taking over; that spells disaster for the football program

Yep and the exact same excuses from Coldspring fans for four years. I agree Coldspring was bigger, faster and more Talent. That wasn’t all on the coaches. If you go in at halftime with a two touchdown lead and can’t keep it, then your team didn’t want it as bad. What I seen is Coldspring got tired and was a totally different team in the second half.
