1. @ PNG so have to give the nod to PNG by 2.
 2. Coach Robbins did the right thing or it would have been worse.  Played station to station and caused some doubles to become singles by holding up runners.
 3. Congrats to the players but cannot believe Chris Cunningham is behind any other guard in 20-4A. BE must be wanting to keep all of it's circulation happy.
 4.

I really don't think anyone is argueing that Brian should not be COY, but don't belittle what Laurance has done at Evadale and don't say he is hating on Nederland because that is not the case. It just sounded like this manager dude has a personal axe to grind with Coach L and has nothing to do with who should be COY.
I don't know what his personal issue is with him. I'll give Coach L respect if he does something more than one season. Not sure if his kids had lots of talent or what. I just know he did NOTHING for the Nederland program when he was there. Hardwood-he did NOT prepare any of these kids to get where they are today. Coach E is the one who coached them during little dribblers, etc and implemented a winning attitude, along with their work ethic and dedication to the program...
I usually agree with you but not on this.  Coach Williams did a great job with Jacob, Chris, and Dionte, when they were at Central MS.  He did teach them a thing or two about basketball.  Finally, there has not been a coach that both my boys played for, that cared more or treated them more fairly than Coach Williams and that includes Coach E.    Coach E. should be COY but Coach Williams deserves more respect than he is being given. 5.
I just want to make a comment about the game the other night in the umpire's defense! My son is a very good umpire! He loves the game and is ALWAYS fair to those kids and would never eject anyone without good reason! That kid knows what happened the other night, and I think we all need to have a little more respect those men that get behind the plate and do what they do for those kids! Thank god he was not hurt!
It says a lot about him that his momma has to defend him.  Knowing old school guys, they assure me  that if you are trying to hit someone whether it is a batter or ump, it is not with an off-speed pitch.  I know plenty of umps and saying always is wrong.  I don't know one ump that can't say they missed a calll or made a mistake on an ejection.  Always would mean perfection and that is never gonna happen.  This topic should be gone.  The kids have let it go.
 6.
Sr moment mack, so many Pitts around that Nederland yard.
Jordan was a tough out too but he hasn't been at the plate in a few years...lol
 7. I thought this thread was in regards to underclassmen on varsity....It has been highjacked for jv baseball. ???
 8. Nederland: Jacob Pitts 5-game hitting streak; 0 ERA Trevin Sonnier 3-game hitting streak Stephen Schlett 3-game hitting streak Dylan Duplant:  .26 ERA Kohl Lasell:  1.62 ERA
 9. 91-92 does not make s a player the best pitcher.  It makes him one of the hardest throwing pitchers and will get him to the next level.  He may be one the best pitchers but it cannot be based solely on velocity.  I know people that throw hard but can't get it over the plate.
 10.
i agree with the statement on lets just move on. in nederland we cant seem to let things go. heck we are even bringing up what happend at last years game . like the commentators say on monday night football.(come on man!!)
It was a Vidor poster who brought up last year not Nederland fans.
 11.

Does everyone remember the game last year at Vidor? There was a play at second base that Vidor fans thought was a terrible call. The aftermath of the call was a coach getting ejected, Green getting confined to the dugout, the announcer being bashed by the Nederland fans and the guy working the clock being censored by the district.  Well the tables are turned, the police had to escort the umpires off the field last night because several Nederland fans threading the home plate umpire and a guy who we all know has a player on the Nederland team telling the home plate umpire that he was going to wait for him in the parking lot. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE OVER HOW SOME OF THE NEDERLAND FAN ACTED LAST NIGHT?
If the Ned fans were mad... I wouldn't know about what? The plate umps strike zone was tight but it was tight for both teams..The only bad calls I saw both went against Vidor....The force out at 2nd early in the game and the foul tip on the 3rd strike that the plate ump didn't here but everyone else did. I did not see any irrate Ned fans after the game.
Then you missed the catcher interference by Vidor's catcher with one of Nederland's biggest bats with 1 out and bases loaded that led to a rally killing double play....should have been batter awarded first, run scores, and all runners advance 1 base......but that's baseball...umpire is going to miss some and this particular plate umpire misses more than some but on both sides...he is a good guy who cares about the kids and the game but age has had an adverse effect on his ability to call....as far as fans go...I didn't hear any threats just typical comments about the plate umpire's calls.....the main complaint from last year was the inappropriateness of comments coming from the announcer not necessarily all Vidor fans.  It was a good game and Vidor won....Still alot of district left to play.
 12. Good post.  I had my 2 sons play for him in Nederland.  I will always say the there has never been a coach that cared more about my sons as individuals outside of sports than he did and still does when he runs into them.  I wish him and Evadale nothing but success.
 13. I've had 2 sons play in Nederland with the last one being a senior this year.  I have yet to meet a coach that is not a good guy.  Some are better coaches than others but they all want to win and do the best job they can do.  Nederland basketball could use an assistant that is not obligated to football especially at the start of the season when Coach E. has to coach all 3 teams until the playoffs are over but that is up to the AD.  Thanks to all of the coaches who have been good influences on my sons.

 15.
Nice having a wife that knows a little about the game ;) ;D ;D ;D
I am glad I got to teach her back in Texas League...loll ;D
 16.

Schlett 3 run HOMERUN!!!!
WOW... I am at work....  man this sucks >:(
What sucks is Jacob not being able to play in at least the first game of this tournament.  I understand Coach E.'s position but if basketball wins this weekend then Jacob and Trent will not be available until the 1st district game.  I wished he would have let them play on the Saturdays and today when it didn't conflict with basketball.
 17. Good teams find ways to win even when it's ugly...Nederland has been able to do that....Our district was better than what people have given it credit forr based on Ozen and Nederland's performance.  At this point anyone can take state but you can't have an off game.
 18. I would word it a little different.....I do think the most talented team usually wins with the operative word being team....but many times the team with the most talented players does lose when it gets to the playoffs because they have won with individual play instead of playing as a team.  The deeper you go the more important team play becomes.  Nederland has had great team play all year.....many teams(including the 2008-09 Nederland Team) with more than one "star" player have egos get in the way....Smith, Forney, and Cunningham have matured and checked their egos for the good of the team playing unselfishly....Role players have accepted and done their jobs: Wagner stopping opposing guards with his tenacious defensive; Mitchell is the best true point guard Nederland has had in many years at distributing the ball;  The defensive and rebounding of Weisbrod(scoring as well) and Pitts off the bench has bought valuable rest for Smith and Forney;  Scoring of English and Fontenot off the bench;  has made this a complete team.  It's a tribute to Coach English's abilities.
 19.
Ok.  Just pretty much name any player off of the team that you follow and say HE'S in the top 25.  Just because...  :D :D
:o :o :o Amen! ;D
 20. IMO 1.)  DC Stallworth 2.)  Kelvin Smith 3.)  Earl Bray 4.)  Garret Gustafsen 5.)  Chris Cunningham 6.)  Shawn Prudhomme 7.)  David Green 8.)  Kristian Smith 9.)  Prentice Lane 10.) Dionte Forney
 21. Everyone wants mention velocity.  I know some who will be effective without velocity and I know some with velocity that are flat with no movement.  It really is too early to say who the top 3 are.
 22.

PNG will be solid as will LCM.  Kyle Green doesn't always have as strong of pitchers but does a great job of managing matchups with the opposing team.  Nederland has already shown alot of depth with Smith, Lasell, Duplechan, etc.  When they finish with basketball, Pitts and Fontenot will only make that bullpen stronger!
For the last 4 years vidor has had hester. Arguably the best in the area the last couple of years.
I agree Hester was among the top pitchers but he wasn't the best in the area.  Green usually has one standout and does a good job with the rest of his bullpen.
