I have none....I was simply answering your question...Is it that you thought the Nederland streak was special? Sorry to burst your bubble, but its been done before...29 district wins is commendable...but you people were acting like it was earth shattering, and it was not...its over now, so hopefully your team can refocus, and take care of business in the coming weeks....insecure? Are you kidding me?....  ::)
Actually, it's never been done in Nederland DV, so we are soaking it up. You can't stand for Nederland to be doing so well, it's comical! There is no bubble to burst, bc we are happy campers in Mid County. We are 25-6 in a rebuilding year!  :o
They haven't done anything NB.... ::).. Yes they are playing well and will likely win district 20-4A for a second straight year...I am glad Coach E has them going in the right direction...That is a great accomplishment for Nederland...MY point was it was done like that to the 10th power, and no issue was made from it as it has this season...It was done at Ozen so regularly, that it was the EXPECTATION. Lincoln too...I don't think that the PORT ARTHUR News EVER mentioned Lincoln's YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT WINS, as much as they have Nederland's short lived run....I guess I DO have issue with THAT, but its not personal....I wish Nederland luck this season, going forward....I think they have a great coach... he is a good guy, and I consider him to be a personal friend....and has been for the last 12 years...relax... 8)
It will be the third straight year Nederland has won district not second.  Tied with Ozen and won the tie-breaker in 2009-2010 season; won it outright 2010-2011 season.
 2. No coach is going to play players that are failing.  I don't know when the last grade report was or when next report card comes out but as long as they are passing when the reports come out they are eligible.  Practicing is not playing:  Therefore a player can still participate in practice even if failing.  I would wait until a game is played before I started making accusation.  HH your posts sounds like you have a grudge with PNG's coaching staff.  They have a good coach and he will play within UIL guidelines.
 3. I will have to check with Jacob.  He will probably know.

People at work have been saying that were in trouble without him but we have plenty of depth at pitcher and several other positions. There will be some very good players left on the JV this year. 1. Nederland 2. Livingston 3. LCM 4. Vidor
Duplant makes the team better but Nederland would have won without him last year and will be able to win without him this year.  Plenty of pitching....defense will be fine....it will ultimately come down to the bats.  Lost a lot of offense and need to see who steps up and hits varsity pitching.  You are right that there will be lots of good players left on JV which is usual for Nederland, but they need playing time.
Is this just a rumor or is confirmed because I see post like this all the time and its not true?
I don't know if there is truth or not.  I was just responding to the statement that Nederland would be in trouble without him.

Don't be surprised if they make a run for the title.
OK
You should back your team but what will put Vidor in the playoffs will be the coaching.  There are good players returning but not at the level of Maxwell, Hester, or Hagler.  You need to quit looking through rose-colored glasses;)
 7. Having had a son on varsity each of the previous 5 years, the most biased officiating I have seen has been by the Bay Town Chapter of officials.  I don't think Nederland has ever made it through the Gulf Coast Classic without a tech.
if FONTENOT & BROWN CAN COME BACK & be EFFECTIVE from their football injuries.raines in the outfield?come on man,hes related to the coach he will be at s.s. pitch or 3rd. lol
Brown and Fontenot will both be ready....If you had watched Nederland Baseball the last two seasons then you would know Raines was playing in the outfield. Nederland will take district again!
 9.
Stampley will be behind the plate as the starter and have Kanton at first as a regular. Feltman is a good ball player and should get some playing time behind the plate but hard to beat out Stamp ot Kanton. The pitching as always is deep in Nederland and many of the pitchers are excellent fielders also. Can't wait to see them start playing again. My favorite time of the year. Good luck to all the 20-4A teams except when you play the Bulldogs.
Where will Brown play when he is not pitching if Richard is at 1st every game?  Brown was everyday 1st last year.  Richard and Brown will be in the lineup somewhere.  Richard could rotate between catcher and 1st or be DH when not at first. Stamp could also rotate between catcher and DH.  Ultimately it will come down to who has their bat going.  Some of the players I have seen listed are good but may ultimately end up on JV to get playing time.  Every year I see people assume that certain underclassmen will be on varsity but it doesn't happen.  You never know until the end of January.  It all depends on their bat!!  I look for the following returners to be in the lineup at some position: Brown(P/1B/3B), K. Richard(1B/C/DH), Duplant(SS/3B), Broussard(CF), Fontenot(SS/3B/2B), Raines(OF), Wood(3B/OF), Laselle(P/OF),?.  Only 2 openings if you count a possible DH.    Nederland is full of talent...Makes it tough to move up.
 10. Great showing by the Dogs.  They seem to be growing in every game.  I thought they were a little bit intimidated last night.  The games I have seen so far remind me of Jordan Pitts' class first two years on Varsity.  They seem to play to the level of their opponent and live and die by the three....One of the players likes to showboat a little bit after he makes a three but doesn't realize his overall percentage from behind the arc isn't that great.  Needs to just play and go inside more.  I saw ego ruin a couple of players from reaching their full potential by their senior year.  It's a growth thing that hopefully comes with experience.  Overall this team should be in contention for the district title this year.
 11. Wasn't trying to take away from the players.  This was the best game male or female that I have seen this season.  The players should be proud but that does not excuse for the coach's behavior.  He represents BISD and this isn't football. The guys he called onto the court shouldn't have ever come on to the floor.
 12. This was a great game to watch.  Ozen did outstanding coming back.  Both teams represented well and fought hard.  I do wonder why the male assistant showed so little class in his behavior after the game.  Jumping up and down and having some high school boys come out on the floor so he could chest bump into them.  That display was no-class.  He acted like he hadn't won a game before.  I can't imagine the best coaches in the area I have seen(Gamble, Fred Williams, Boutte, English, etc.) ever acting that way.  I guess it's a girl basketball thing:)

We are talking about LM having fighting/dont know how to keep their mouths shut problems, not Vidors suppossed problems. I cant really think of the last time Vidor has gotten into a fight in any athletic sport. LM has gotten into quite a few. Just saying. Keep your irrelevent remarks to yourself and stay on topic. Pointing the finger where it needs not be pointed is immature. Not intended to be rude
It has everything to do with it because all the CENSORED BY ADMIN that is being said it not true.As far as you telling me what to say you can go to CENSORED BY ADMIN.This was LM first also as far as talking on the field you tell me what school that doesn't talk. The only ones that don't are the ones that gets the %ss hit.Yes we talk and intimidate some teams but thats part of it.Its not just talk if you can back it up.LM players can't be as undiscipline as all of you state. Some of the kids from that program are Lawyers and have Masters Degrees. You don't play in fifteen region finals in twenty years with thugs. If thats so all of you need to get rid of the choir boys.Vidor should be the last Hole in in the ground to talk about reputation. This is not 1950.
I was taught to let your play do the talking for you...... that if you could back it up then there was no reason to talk....You win with class and lose with class.  Unfortunately neither side ended with any class.

If my addition is correct and my eyes worked right here is the school totals. Nederland 18 Ozen 15 Vidor 12 PNG 10 Livingston 8 LCM 7 Lumberton 6 Central 4 I appologise if i missed anything but, what a outstanding showing from all our district.
I'm happy for the kids that made the all district team, but 80 players making all district, that's 10 players per team in an 8 team league, so half the league is all district ?  It just doesn't mean what it use to.
I am not really surprised by the number.  At Nederland's end of the year sports awards football hands out what seems to be about ten awards and of course the male athlete of the year is always going to come from the football team.  All other sports hand out one award for their sport.  It may be because there are more players on football but then again the JV get's letter jackets for practicing when  Nederland makes the playoffs.  I am assuming most of the AD/Football Coaches put the emphasis and special treatment on the football team.  All District has been watered down for years but it is still a way to honor players who work hard.
 15.
According to a Galveston County sportswriter, "Source: UIL clears La Marque of any wrong doing regarding the brawl with Ozen Saturday. No discipline coming from UIL." And, "Source: UIL determined that La Marque did nothing to start the brawl, and thus was not responsible for its occurrence."
Even if Ozen did start the "brawl," and that's a big if, LM players choose their response.  They could have chose get away from the situation but did not.  No matter who started it, one side has to be the bigger, smarter men and end it.  That did not happen.  You can be right...right up to the time you cross the line into being wrong.  The failure to stop fighting is as wrong as starting the melee.  Based on past experience, I am certain the truth is somewhere between the two sides' stories and that both sides had their instigators....it takes two to Tango.  Both team's are wrong.  It's appalling that any adult would try to excuse any of this behavior.  The players are responsible for their own actions and reactions period.  They had choices on both sides and made bad decisions.  These players would have been arrested in another setting which causes me to be concerned about their future if they cannot control their anger.  How to help them in this area should be the focus not the next football game.
 16. You may not like what I am about to say.....However, based on the situation, I would say the security/police exercised great restraint.  Consider the facts:  they are outnumbered; facing teenagers that are every bit as big as they are and in protective pads; teenagers in better shape; having policy/procedures to adhere too... that the aggressors do not have to abide by; helmets being swung as weapons that could cause serious bodily injury or death if swung at someone not wearing a helmet.  Under those circumstances they would have been justified in escalating to greater force than pepper spray.  I would rather deal with pepper spray than lead.  Sometimes the force is necessary to save people from themselves.  Hold the athletes accountable not the police for appropriately stopping a serious situation.
 17.
There is something which sticks out about Jeff and it has nothing to do with football. Jeff cares about the kids and his passion is driven by wanting his players to succeed. There is just something different about this guy and it separates him from others. Jeff should have the Vidor job for life if that is what he wants.
I have only been around him in passing but he definitely always seems upbeat.  I would take him as an AD because he he seems to show a willingness to work with other sports.  Quite a few schools don't enjoy this from their AD.  As for as moving players out of a locker room immediatelt after a season......that is not uncommon...most senior players move on to another sport to finish out the year.

 19. I think at least parts of this thread should be deleted.  Divorces and their reason(s) are no subject for this site.  This is solely an issue for the 2 parents to decide. Hopefully, the decision is in his best interest.
 20. I have read all of the posts on here with quite a bit of amusement.  I want to make the following points: 1.)  I have had one of my sons(JP &/or Jr) on all of the past 5 years varsity basketball and/or baseball teams.  I have grown to respect and like Coach Neuman, although, I do not always agree with him.  He knew my sons and what they accomplished, therefore, I know he at a minimum kept up with the other sports.  I do believe he is a better Football Coach than AD.  But then again each position should be a fulltime job and separated.  2.)  I do not believe any posters have accused him of wanting to sabotage basketball but rather I read most posts as indicating that he has not giving it as much support as he could.  2.)  Fighting past history, such as split blocks, does no  good.  That was resolved and there are 2 sides to that story.  The truth is actually somewhere in the middle. What is said behind closed doors does not always make it into meeting minutes.  Some individuals are much more politically correct in a public venue than they are one-on-one. 3.)  Micah and Jacob, you are both passionate, but, fair or not, you both have credibility issues when responding on this issue due to where your known loyalties lie.  There are people very loyal to Coach Neuman, who will tell you football will always come first in the decision making.  I don't know if I was an AD and my job was based on football that i wouldn't do the same. 4.)  I think the argument about who the assistant that was hired is misguided and not the true issue.  He was hired first and foremost to be a football coach and then assigned to basketball.  That is how it has been done forever.  However, more information is needed to make a truly informed decision as to what the new assistant’s qualifications may be.  He may have previous experience as a basketball coach.  Coach Jardell and Coach St. Pierre were not originally basketball coaches but learned basketball.  I would let my sons play for them any day. 5.)  It is not fair to bring up Coach Smith.  He can speak for himself and doesn’t deserve to have problems possibly created by posters with their own an agenda.  He has to work for the AD and with all of the other coaches.  The odds of him being moved, now or in the future, by Coach Neuman has been diminished greatly by this thread.  Who knows, there may have been applicants that couldn’t get an interview, maybe a prior assistant to English, that would have been just a good choice. IMO  The true issue should be, at what point Coach English gets his assistants for basketball.  Presently, he does not get them until football is over.  UIL allows basketball to start practice at the end of October or 1st of November.  I think he would be happy just to have a warm body to assist him with 3 teams practicing and coaching at the early tournaments.  No other Nederland sport, that I know of, is required to start a season without at least one assistant.  Coach Robin has always had  at least two assistants at the start of baseball.  Noone who is posting knows all of the issues that were considered, but after 5 years of watching, things are not always as cut and dry as they seem.  Yes, Nederland Basketball does deserve more but start by addressing the most pressing issue.
 21. I have had 2 sons come through the program recently.  This is no surprise.  Coach E. will not even get this assistant until after football season.  He has had good men as assistants but never a basketball guy.  There is no oversight or accountability by the Superintendent or School Board.  I will voice my opinion but do not believe it will do much good.  He should have never received a new contract.
lol man you are acting like nederland has been to the state tourney the last couple of years, nederland isn't a powerhouse basketball program!!!! just the truth, a powerhouse basketball program is silsbee,hj, and kountze, just because nederland has done good the last couple of yrs does not make them a great basketball program. Football and baseball are the top 2 sports in nederland!!!
Not a state championship but when was the last time Nederland Football finished in better than third or fourth in District.  I think Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, etc. all are doing better but don't get true support from the AD.
 22. For me was 2009 Nederland beats Central in OT for first time.  I have to admit I am biased because JP made the last second jumper for the tie and then got the last second steal from Gulley to seal the deal.
 23.
I seem to only recall the losses in the 2008-2009 and the 2009 -2010 season.
What about the 2010-2011 season(this year) ???  The first loss that I know about was the 2nd meeting in district 2009.  Jordan Pitts hit the tying shot with time running out to send it to overtime and then stole the ball from Gulley as time expired in overtime with Nederland leading. That was a big win that year for Nederland to help make certain  they got to the playoffs.  Haven't lost to Central since.
