1. PNG will be solid as will LCM.  Kyle Green doesn't always have as strong of pitchers but does a great job of managing matchups with the opposing team.  Nederland has already shown alot of depth with Smith, Lasell, Duplechan, etc.  When they finish with basketball, Pitts and Fontenot will only make that bullpen stronger!
 2. Looking at the roster for Humble....Nederland will have the size advantage....Forney, Smith, Weisbrod, Pitts, and Killian, need to blockout better and control the boards.  Depth will be in Nederland's favor.  If you look Humble's stats at Max-Preps it appears Humble relies has 2 main players and can't afford for either to have an off night.
 3. Looks like thay have done pretty good so far.  Are you complaining because your kid is not getting to playand you think he is better than another....Fact sometimes you only get that one chance to make the impression....Coach doesn't have that much time to spread around because he wants to get a lineup working together as much as possible prior to district....It may get even harder to get time.  There are still 2 of last years Varsity players(one all-district DH) playing basketball.  We'll know by the end of the week when they get to hit the field.

Many more changes coming in School Athletics including a proposed pay to play, eliminating Sports that do not make money, lower grade Sports. How much money did you make last year, thanks send it in. What the h#*l happen to all the Lotto money we were suppose to get for School Funding.
Thanks for the info...glad it's my last year to deal with it at the high school level....know your glad to be dealing with UT.
 5.
English doesn't drive the bus. Someone else does.
But a coach involved in the game does....I just think it would be safer and the players deserve it as much as other sports or uil activities!!!
 6. Great game for the dogs!  Need to do a better job blocking out as they face bigger guys.  Would like to know why the team traveled on a school bus instead of a charter bus like other sports have done ???  Seems like it would be safer especially after a tiring emotional win...It is bound to tire out the coach who is driving...then you add the fog.  Just curious.
 7. According to PA News: From HWY 69 take I-10 West for 67 miles Take Exit 781A toward Beltway 8 Go North on Beltway 8 for 12.9 miles Turn left at Lockwood Road Address is 140000 Weckford Blvd Houston
 8. Glad they are doing so well.  Hope Jacob and Trent will make the team even better.  1696dogs can you keep me updated this evening.  I will be watching Jacob and the Dogs Basketball play Huntsville.  Hopefully it will be victories all around.
 9. Who's going to make the trip?  The Dogs deserve the fan support!!
 10. Looking at their roster, Huntsville has alot of size.

The leadoff hitter for WOS, Mitchell can play, HR also. The Dogs' Schelett is on fire and roped the ball. Tyler Smith joined Schelett in the HR department.
Did Zane Anderson actually pitch in this game? I thought he was still playing basketball. WOS has a basketball playoff game tonight. Wouldn't he be practicing with the basketball team yesterday?
I know Coach English will not let Jacob Pitts, Trent Fontenot, and Colton Weisbrod, play baseball yet.  He has in past years.  Hope they go far in the basketball playoffs but can't wait to get Jacob on the field.

Thanks again, Steven Pitts
Decided to take a shot at us?  Did you actually hear what he was saying?  In a loud gym (and it was loud) any coach appears to be yelling. Anyways, Congrads on this great season by Big Ned.  You've been worthy of your state ranking thus far.
I was right behind him....He kept asking the ref to make the students sit down and quiet down.  I wasn't talking about the coach yelling but the fans.......Wasn't meant to be a shot....just showing what a tough fan-base can do to distract the other team.
Yep!  He was by far the worst ref we had all year.  I would scratch him from any future games based on that game.

 16.
Good point. I was just trying to say that we have always sucked in basketball.
Not always!  We have had some teams that were competitive but would come in 2nd or 3rd when only one team went to the playoffs.  However, this is one of the better teams Nederland has had in a long time.
 17.

Sound's to me like you have an upset parent whose boy isn't getting what they want. Complaining this early after one scrimmage?
I didn't read about anyone complaining. Voicing concerns (after what they've seen so far) maybe but not complaining. LaSalle is a great kid though who should at least be given the chance to begin with. That's just my opinion of course. He's not my kid but I see how hard he's worked to get on Robbins varsity team. It's difficult for the kids to understand what exactly is needed to play at that level for Robbins when they see what is chosen over others is all. When weaker players with weaker work ethics or kids with grade problems are chosen over ones that have similar talent (if not more), better work ethic and better grades, it would be questionable to anyone would it not? Especially the boys working hard to get there.
"So far"= 1 week of indoor throwing and hitting + 1 scrimmage....kind of early to be complaining???  Jordan started out on JV his Sophomore year and performed very well and ended up moved up to Varsity.  Don't let the first week or scrimmage bother you.  Something you always need to consider....Do you want a player up on Varsity where he might not play much or do you want him on JV getting more time?......Finally, I have had both my sons on playoff teams.....They went further with the less talented/experienced team because of chemistry....Adults on here can hurt that chemistry! :(
 18. Is Green back for this one?  He can make a difference.
 19. Final game at the Dome for these seniors.....Dome definitely has become a tough environment for road teams....Dogs take it in a close one.
 20.

Was there any pitching standout's for either side?
LaSalle looked strong for Nederland. Nice speed and control (even with some heckling from the BC dugout). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with heckling but I just wanted to point out that it was strongest during Cole's pitching and he handled it well. In my opinion, he was one of the strongest pitchers Nederland showed that night. Not exactly sure why Robbins hasn't moved him up permanently?! I thought it was about what would be best for the program but with some of the decisions made so far it doesn't quite seem like it.
It's only been a week of indoor practice.  Noone knows what will happen.  One scrimmage doesn't tell it all.  I've had one or both of my sons on Varsity for the past 5 years.  While I have not always agreed with Coach Robbins, I do understand that with the depth of talent in Nederland, he has to make some tough choices that will not make everyone happy.  He has several pitchers that would start/play on other teams.  It's a good problem to have.
 21.
Was there any pitching standout's for either side?
Hubbard looked good for BC.  Pitts faced 5 batters and none reached base had 2 ks.  I left early but was told Laselle did a good job as well for Nederland.  It's early and it was cold so several pitchers had some control issues.

I think most teams double him and make someone else step up. Just my observation and I think he's been hurt some this season which really hurts the Bears.
Is he back from the shoulder injury?  Good player!!
 23.
Starting to feel sorry for Colton and I haven't even officially met him yet. With all the hype around him he's going to be under a microscope all season. Hopefully he can look past it all and just play the game he obviously has a passion for. Good luck this season Dogs!!!
Amen!!
 24.
Pitts too definitely! So sorry for the oversight!!
Don't worry about it S.  I'm not.  Jacob will play/sign at the next level if it's meant to be.
 25.
Vidor 3 votes and PNG none....Destroys credibility.  February 8th LCM plays PNG not Nederland.  Nederland plays @ Lumberton.

I can assure you that I did not vote at all for Vidor!!! ;) ;)  Nor PNG as far as that goes!!!
Neither one deserves votes but PNG has been ahead of Vidor in district all season.  Pre-season shouldn't be counting now.....playing teams from lesser classifications is the only reason they have a 20 win season.  Coach is making a good resume for himself though.  Noone looks to see who you played just look at the record. ;)
