1.
So if LCM wins out and Vidor loses to Nederland, then who gets third place?
Based on what I've been told a seeding game decides it.
 2. You would be hard pressed to put any outfielders ahead of Brady and returning 1st teamer Cardenas from Nederland.
 3.

Although velocity is a great thing to have and impresses the guys with the radar guns, control, changing speeds, movement on your fastball, hitting your spots, and ERA impress me more. It's what makes a pitcher effective. Both Nederland starters are blessed with all of these abilities.
And it always helps to have a catcher who can handle their "Nastyness"! (Is that a word?)  Basebow,I thinks your mistaken Pitts is 5'3 with spikes!
:D :D :D  It would sure make our clothing and food bill go down if Jacob was 5'3".lol
 4.
Laird probally hasn't signed anywhere because of his velocity. Fastball around 78-79.
I don't think any pitcher in Nederland's bullpen throws below 83.  I don't believe you have watched Laird pitch.
 5.
Exactly JoesBros. And hopefully these 2 will carry us far into early june! Btw I see Vidor being district runner up tying PNG but the pirates hold the tie breaker.
The year after Nederland got knocked out of playoffs due to head to head with LCM, I was told the tie breaker was changed to be a play-in/seeding game.  Is this true or is the tie breaker still head to head? IMO Bellow is 20-4A MVP and Laird is 1st Team Pitcher this year.  Laird has stood out and has proven he can pitch against any team.  I don't understand why he hasn't been signed yet.  No need to change the rotation.  If Nederland's bats stay hot, Bellow will only need to pitch 2-3 innings(no more than a routine bullpen) against Livingston before the coach could comfortably go to the very deep bullpen(Pitts, Smith, Brown, Raines, Brady, and Cardenas).  Bellow would then be available for relief if needed monday.  Great position to be in!
 6.
updated Ned 10-1 ...Liv (Bellow)-Vidor (Laird)-Lum (Bellow) Vidor 9-2...LCM (Hagler)-Nederland (Hester)-Livingston (Hagler) PNG 8-3....Lum (Sweet)-Ozen (Reyenga)-Central (Sweet) LCM 7-4.....Vidor (Smith)-Lumberton (Waddell) -Ozen (Smith) Livingston 5-6....Nederland-Central-Vidor
With three games remaining the worst Nederland or Vidor could finish would still keep them ahead of Livingston.  So Nederland and Vidor have clinched playoff spots and the worst PNG could do is tie for 4th with Livingston or LCM(highly unlikely that they lose with the easiest remaining schedule).  Magic number for LCM to clinch is 2(2 wins by LCM; 1 win by LCM and a loss by Livingston; 2 losses by Livingston).  Friday:  Will the four playoff teams for 20-4A be decided with only seeding left to be determined...Can LCM clinch at least the 4th seed by taking Vidor a 2nd time and having Nederland take Livingston?  Can't wait for Friday!!!
 7. As a fan you always want to believe your team is the best......As a coach making the playoffs is job 1....Coach Green has to ask himself 1.)  Does he believe the Pirates will absolutely beat both Nederland and PNG if he pitches Hester?  2.)  If he doesn't think the Pirates will beat both of them, then does he believe it is more important to ensure himself at least a tie for the third seed with LCM and knock Livingston out of the hunt?  Ned hit Hester but struggled against Armstrong.  Pirates at that time were not hitting or playing defense very well.  That may have changed. Green is pretty sly and uses his pitchers well.  He'll make the best decision to help his team going into the playoffs.
 8. Most of the 7 or 8 losses come in pre-season.  Some teams actually play a tough preseason and also play in a tough district.  They could still have a better team than some teams that have good records because of weak schedules.

 10.
Get over it. Nobody's fault a high chopper with a fast runner means a base hit. 254 DOGS. ;D
Amen! 254 ;)
 11.

I say use Kirby as the closer this week. #3 or #4 can beat LCM and then Kirby could start against Vidor Tuesday where we will get the matchup we expected last time with Bellow versus Hester. As to the topic. Nederland 7 PNG 5.
Who is the #3 or#4 for Nederland?  Tuesday is the most important game of the year so far for either team.  Nederland wins in a close one.
I see Laird starting this one.....Kirby could come in, if needed, since he didn't throw too many pitches Friday.  Coach Robbins doesn't normally deviate from his rotation once it's set so #3 or #4, whoever they may be, probably won't get a start against LCM.(We really shouldn't be looking) past this game.  Laird has pitched well this year.  Without the wind assisted HR's, he get's the win.

 13. BE doesn't cover high school sports too well.  It would have to be PA News.
 14. I don't think Kirby was left in fo a no-hitter.  He was left in to get much needed time on the mound and to build up stamina.  He would have been left in no matter what the score or if hits were allowed.  The fact is the score would not have been as bad if Central's defense made routine plays.  The pitcher got what should have been flyouts and groundouts that were mishandled.  My son plays for both basketball and baseball.  They are two different sports and can't be compared.  Basketball you can quit pressing, work on different aspects of the game and slow it down.  Baseball you pretty much can play station to station baseball and that's it.  You can't make the defense make a play....You can't take the bat out of batters hands because that may hurt the average and cause him to lose his spot in the lineup.  Stat programs don't put asterisk beside at-bats to show that a poor at-bat was to give the opposing team an out.  Your trying to compare apples to oranges.
 15. I want to express my thanks to those fans from both teams who have inquired, expressed concern, and prayed on behalf of my father who passed out at the game last night.  I want to especially express appreciation to those who used their professional skills to take care of him until the ambulance arrived and transported him to the hospital.  He is doing ok and should be out and about to watch Jacob play next week.  Thanks again!

 17. Ozen only threw righties tonight #6 and #7 if you know #s.
 18. Come on guys let it go.  I respect your right to ask questions but do it in a better manner.  If it's about whether the coach has let his experienced pitchers get enough mound time, then discuss that leave a player's name out of it because he doesn't make the decisions but will become the unwarranted focus of attention whether that was your intent or not.  District starts tuesday.  Preseason is over and any further discussion  is mute.  Your comments will not change or effect what has happened in the past.  My son and I were talking at lunch about this thread(he read it and brought it up), which is why am posting this comment. Contrary to what you think Cool, he feels confident that he is ready to pitch and that he will be in the "equation" to pitch whether as a starter or in relief.  He also stated the team doesn't worry about what an outsider says. Finally, you should not use idle talking in the stands on which to base any comment. On every team I have been around parents that are into the game, including myself, will second guess decisions, play the what would I do in this situation game, etc.  That's just normal ballpark banter and should never be construed as lack of support for the team or coach.  Having watched both my sons play for playoff teams in multiple sports as well as play for teams that underperformed, I would say the successful seasons had fewer distractions from outside the team such as your comments.  If you are truely a fan of the Dogs consider not creating these distractions. As for my observation, Nederland looks primed and ready to defend the title and that is all that ultimately matters.  GO DOGS!!!
 19. I missed some of the comments from above and went back to read....1988 Bulldog you missed it there are three idiots in this case, go back and read bulldog fever's pun.  Don't let it bother you though, this team is going to be fun to watch.  The lineup from top to bottom has been productive and all of the pitchers have been effective.  Just an all around talented team.
 20.
From what I hear Benoit will be going to Dr. Lintner Monday and hopefully he does not have a tear and will be able to play his senior season, just will not pitch. His bat is red hot and it would be a serious blow to the Indian team. Pray for him and hope for the best.
I hope he gets a good report.  I've enjoyed watching him play both with and against my two sons and hope to continue seeing him this year and in the future.  He's heck of a player and good young man.
 21. Dogs hitting came around in the last two games of this tournament.  Bellow looked good, defense has to tighten up.  Looking forward to district tuesday.  Don't let any outside influences remove your focus guys.  It's all about the team and taking care of 1 game at a time.
 22. Final 10-2 Clements.  Nederland only had 4 hits on the day:  Cardenas 2b; Pitts RBI single; Williams RBI single; Sonnier infield single.
