  1. 10-12 in the last 2 years.   The experiment has not worked.   By WOS standards, it has failed miserably.

In the previous 10 years, WOS had lost 20 games.   They are on pace to lose 60 games in the same timeframe under this regime.

They have to make a change.   Things will not get better, and IMO, will gradually get worse, the further you get away from the Hooks/Thompson eras and culture.

Unless he schedules a bunch of cupcakes to pad the win column in pre-district, 5 and 6 losses will be the new norm.

There may be some Chippiness in this game, but what you wont have is the Racist, Racial component that has gone on from apposing fans and players, from couple other teams.  Last Friday night was bad. A 17 / 18 yr old kid can only take so much. Several of these Communities in this area were founded by Segregationist ideals, and we can argue all day as to the justification for it? But it carries over into these young kids on the field today , without us maybe realizing it.

The un sportsmen like conduct penalties have been due to retaliation , and the kids are punished for it during the following week.

This group of Young  men from Silsbee, are exceptional students, and handle themselves well in and out of the class room. Most have supporting hard working parents.  These kids are highly competitive , and most are three year starters. These kids do a lot of Football related things on their own, such as Team meetings, film work, weight room, and extra drills.  Silsbee has one of the toughest spring off seasons, and Boot Camp allowed in High School, go observe if you don't believe it.

Tigers might not win this week, or go to Dallas, but they are 9 and 0 ,for a reason, and it's not just because they have several kids that can run and catch.

Trash post!   Go cry and play victim on another site.

Blaming Silsbee’s lack of discipline on racism is a joke.   The WOS game is a prime example.   And they will play dirty, and run their mouth again this week, against another predominantly black team.

Silsbee has had a long track record of chippiness, and mouthing, regardless of the demographics of their opponent.

  3. Georgia and Texas do it right.

Alabama is bad,  but Florida is much worse.   An absolute joke.   If you go to a non-traditional high school (home schooled, charter school, or collegiate academy) you can play a different sport at different high school through the year.

For example, you could play football at PNG, play basketball at United, and run track at Memorial.   And be eligible right away.

With recent talk about some teams struggling to kick extra points, I’m surprised there hasn’t been teams that do nothing but go for 2 points after a touchdown.  You practice it and then execute it during the game.  Thoughts?!

Many of the lower classifications do.   I’m curious to know if Newton has kicked an xp all year.

Then schools like Timpson, are fairly proficient at the XP.

In the end, it’ll always come back to bite you if pass up 1 pt to go for 2.

The lack of a kicking game, and the seemingly refusal to address it, has cost WOS 2 games this year.

When are y’all going to stop saying that and look at the big picture. The coach is not the one out there playing the game. They call the plays and the players  execute them. There is more than one coach out there. So who need to go?  The coach didn’t get those penalties or missed those blocks, or  passes. It’s a team sport and a team effort.

He ran great coaches off and replaced them with his buddies who should be coaching Pop Warner tomorrow morning.

The guy has no clock management skills, horrible in-game adjustments, and embarrassingly bad game decisions.   He’s cost his team the Jasper and Newton games.

Do you need any more examples?

Good post. Why do you think (once again, heresay) that CT or anyone else for that matter chose Coach Hickman for the job?

I think it’s rumor.   If CT wanted Hickman, and thought it was best for the program, or least transitional, there would not have been the turnover there was.

All the longtime coaches would not have left had things been smooth, and going in the right direction.

You don’t lose those guys, and replace them with younger, inexperienced, less quality guys and continue to win on the level they are accustomed too.

But hey, who cares, they have a head coach, and staff that looks like the rest of the community, or so we are suppose to believe.

He cried for weeks on the news and to the newspaper about a dang field house at West Brook when it had nothing to do with BISD.  The stop work order being pushed by their very own west end city council was the roadblock that prolonged the completion of that field house.  IMO, that was nothing more than a scapegoat for him to make it seem like it was BISD’a fault so he could leave.

Could very well be the case.   But IMO, the complete lack of leadership within the district, the spineless AD, and opportunity to make more money were major reasons why.

Pretending like BISD is a quality place with great management is not true either.

  8. WOS was more talented, but not by much.   HF was better coached, and it was by a mile.    Coaching definitely trumped athleticism in this one.

Not taking anything away from HF, because they have a lot of very good football players.

I go back to the PNG game and he goes for 2 instead of kicking the XP.    Then tonight, the use 2 timeouts in the 3rd quarter while on defense.    In about a 5 play span.

ITS so  sickening.   Not fair to the kids at WOS, or their fans.

Yep I said it before and I’ll say it again. PAM sideline goons will have this team one and done and I’m specifically talking about the offense!! Crosby in my opinion, was gassed on defense In the second half. Crosby earned every yard and score!! In the playoffs, u can’t allow people to score 24 unanswered points. You can’t get cute with play calling!! We have no concept of clock management. When Crosby blitzed, we had no answer. QB stares down whoever he throws to. DEFENSE STOP THE CELEBRATION AND DANCING!!! This tells me they reading press clippings. PAM IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE DISTRICT AND GOLDEN TRIANGLE AREA… outside of that, they are avg!!!!! STOP DOING THIS CAUSE KARMA IS A B!!! PAM kids played with heart despite that XBOX Play calling!!! Going for it deep in your territory on 4 th is stupid!!!!! Yeah he got away with it twice.

I think conditioning pulled pam through. Crosby leaned on dem hosses they got 2 and 14. Prayers to the students they was in the wreck.

I like this post!   My dad said always said the toughest, and most coachable kids he ever coached were TJ kids.

Athleticism aside, those kids wanna be coached hard, disciplined, and wanna win.

Yeah he's not all that. He only wins when his team is clearly better than their opponents.

Most coaches do.   Most of the time it’s about the athletes.

I think Stump is a good coach and runs a good program.   Are there better coaches out there?   Probably, but be careful when you want a good coach to leave.    His replacement may not be better.

Stump did beat Katy this year, and is on the verge of beating North Shore.

A friend and I were talking last night and he said " you and I know our football so tell me the last time the Blue&Silver lost 3 in a row? He said "cause if it's happened I don't remember. "  I didn't think it had happened, for the most part they don't lose 3 in a season.  I was wrong in my thoughts. '82 & '83 seasons.

Then came the mid to late 80s and we all know the trajectory from then on.

Last year to the same 3 teams

I wanna put things in perspective. WOS was tied up 6-6 with a state title contender at the 1/2. Props to the Mustangs. I’m gonna give credit where credit is due. The Tigers are really good. They’ve got more than just Miller. There’s a whole group of young men that are next level players. Even though I was pulling for Silsbee to win, I would’ve been happy either way. Good job Tigers. Y’all beat a good team.

WARNING: Silsbee is their own worst enemy. They have more of a chance of beating themselves, than someone else beating them. Tighten up the penalties and find some discipline.

With the way Silsbee played last night, they are not a state title contender.

They were more worried about chirping and dancing around in the huddle, than they were playing as a team.

WOS is a shell of any resemblance of a WOS team, but were the best team Silsbee has played this year.   Silsbee looked decent defensively, but poor on offense.
