Well said ChampionEagles, we have one of the best coaching staffs in 2A football. Trevor moving back to linebacker will be a big difference in our defense. Our line will still be undersized. I  think this will be a team that will get better as the year go on. Have not heard if we got any transfers from other school or not. Remembering that the 8th grade kids will now be on the soph or JV team and some of them may be skilled enough to play varsity but I suspect that they will be another year away. This is the bunch of kids (undefeated since pee wee football) that Coach Barbay told me was the best looking group of kids coming up that he has ever had at Newton. The future is looking bright in Newton football if our school does not keep losing players. At the rate we are losing kids we may be down to class A football in a few years.

Yes he can play with a felony. He can play on the prison team. More than likely it will wind up being a state jail felony and he will receive 1 yr. in state jail.

copies were to be mailed out from on line orders on june 15. Wal- Mart and CVS phar. were two of the stores listed that are to carry it. Could not find it in Jasper or Center stores yet.  Hopefully the magazine was also mailed out to the stores the 15th. If so, we should see it in the stores about next saturday(maby).

Maby they can play that Christian school from Beaumont 3 or 4 times this year instead of twice like they did last year. Even the teams that beat Burkeville bad last year were not real good playoff teams. Lets face it, you don't get better by lowering your standards.

Things are definately looking up in Burkeville. Coaching change has been needed for years. The mustangs will have a hugh line next year. Burkeville needs more kids so they can develope their JV and JH programs. The new coach should be a good one. Good luck. P.S. Burkeville recently received a letter from the state declaring them chapter 41. Wow, that is because we do not have enough students (i think their is more property value than we have kids).

rykerx144 you got me courious so I did a computer generated program with all the Brownwood players and the Kirbyville players for next  year. I got this program from ''Jimmy the Greek" who used this program to set all his odds. Just because a person has been their longer,more years, does not mean he is a better person/coach. Longer or older does not always mean better. Can't believe anyone would leave Newton County and the Burkeville area with as many job opporunities that exist here.... I guess there are no openings at the Burkeville Food Mart which is the only store open in Burkeville now. Best of luck whereever you go.

Years, (humm) and years ago, when I played sports, most kids were told if we started a sport we would finish it. Most fathers did not allow their kid to quit. Regardless of what the problem is or was, quiting is not the solution. (of course kids now know more than their parents do)

What are the names of the people from Burkeville now going to school in Newton that are playing football? I know W. McBride played two years ago and his brother transfered there and played one game before being kicked off the team.
