Crockett only shows one scrimmage.

The old coach must know something that a few of us at Newton already know. Newton new QB is a junior that the coaches have been waiting on since jr. high. This kid is a great athlete. Baring injuries, Newton should be better this year then they were last year.

Newton is no. 3 in 3A-2 ,,The other teams ahead of Newton are 3A-1. Gunter and Lexington are the two teams ranked ahead of Newton in Div.2. Four days until scrimmage. Newton scrimmaging Jasper should be a good match up. Jasper is going to be real good this year.

Bad news here at Newton. The lineman are very small and extremely slow, several weighing under 172 pounds, backs are extremely slow, our fastest back is nick named turtle. We are going to flip a coin to see who plays QB. Anybody playing Newton this year don't need to worry about us. We are just going to have to start over and rebuild from the 7th grade up. Maybe in a few years we can be competitive again. Makes me want to just lay down and cry.

Barlow is up to from 185 to 205 and said he wanted to be around 215 at start of season. He is solid, no fat, he put on all muscle. One of our returning lineman has went from 230 to 260 or 265. Only two weeks before we scrimmage Jasper. Newton will have to make room for some underclassmen coming up, really have some good athletes coming up.

They have a while before he graduates. He is a junior. They moved him to the varsity when he was a freshman.

Now, four coaches have left Newton. L Thompson, Robbie Hatton, Tabor Westbrook and Brian Barbay. Two retired, one was promoted to assist. principal and one went to Jasper.

Newton will be as good or better than last year. Newton carried 45 on their roster and they all played last year. Newton will have a QB(4.5) that will cause defensives to have to account for his running. Defense will be solid and very quick.

Some districts are probably smaller due to trying to cut down on long traveling games. I know they added Frankston to Newton's district. Frankston is the other side of Jacksonville. A lot of our fans cannot travel that far. That's a long drive on the old yellow dog. A major problem if our football bus breaks down and we have to get another bus brought down to make it to the game on time. Last year our cheer leader bus broke down, luckily we were only playing at Silsbee that night.

It is my understanding that a lot of the kids that have not been offered a college scholarship or looking for a better offer are displayed so as to try to get these kids an offer from a college team..

Got a peek into DC TX Football magazine from DCTFM site. For region 3 class 4A-2, it shows WO-S lost a lot of talent, 10 players off last years team signed to play college ball. It states Thompson is 78-11 since taking over in 2011. Stated that they don't expect a letdown with WO-S. 31 and 1 with back to back state championships. Other teams in that region that are mentioned are LaGrange, Liberty and Giddings. In region 3 class 3A -2 it picks Newton to be strong again (to be more athletic and faster) and to be challenged in district by Crockett (which they show will have most all their offence back). and Garrison to be a challenge to Newton. Other teams in that region show Arp to have lost a lot of players but have some key pieces coming back. El. Fields to be strong. They show region 4, 3A-2 to be strong.
