Very impressive, kirbyville defeating Hunnington (1-9 )last year with 5 returning starters on offense). Especially after Kville rolling over powerhouse Deweyville last week.

VARSITY- NEWTON 6 TDS BUNA 2. did not count the one Newton scored on defense. Then Played 2 quarters, Newton 19 Buna 0. I talked to two Buna varsity players before the game and ask them how they did with their scrimmage last week with Anuhuac. They said they dominated them."We are ready for 3A football".  and as Earl Pitts would say "wake up america". I would have thought by now that they had heard of WO-S, Silsbee, BC, and so on...

Cannot download the video on my dial up connection, but I think you are refering through the era including the 50s when PN-G had the state championship team. My next door neighbor on Toledo Bend Lake (Toledo Village sect 11) (Winston Lafleur) was the all state guard pictured in the book 'down trails of victory" that played on that championship team.

you have to look at the other teams in the state that are usually strong and see what they have lost. a lot of the normally strong teams have lost a lot of good players. Newton's line will be sophmores, the line will be better and as the year goes on they will get even stronger. The skill players are back, the defense will be stronger. 2a ball depends on a little luck with injuries because they do not have the dept of larger class teams. when u have winning programs such as Newton, WO-S, etc.. then a lot of the teams or people like Bunaboy become jealous. I can sure understand why Bunaboy is upset, looking back on the scores of the playoff games Newton had with them. A couple of years in the 3A district you will be disliking WO-S also.

the three playoff teams will be Newton, Kirbyville and E.Chambers. Could be in any order. Sorry Woodville, but I wish you good luck. kirbyville has some really big kids coming up as does Newton. They will be young and these two teams will make a lot of noise the next few years.

E.Chambers has a lot of talent coming back. Newton has a lot of skill players returning and will field a big line with mostly sophmores next year. Newton will be better this year. Kirbyville will be better and they have some big kids coming up. I think this district will be going several rounds into the playoffs, esp. E. Chambers and Newton. I guess we will find out the second and third district games when Newton plays Kirbyville the second dist. game and then plays E. Chambers the third district game. 1. Newton 2. E. Chambers 3. kirbyville

district had the draw yesterday the 10th. One Coach told me he thought that we had E.CH, Kirbyville, Woodville and either Anuhuac or Hardin at home . Did not have the schedule printed out or with him when this was told. This is unofficial but schedule should be on this site today by someone in this district. Don't know the sequence of who we play first,etc. Maby Warren at Warren but not sure.

district 10 2a div1  met yesterday,feb.10 and drew for positions. Have not gotten a printout on results yet. Newton coach did say Newton had E.Chambers and Kirbyville at home. I imagine someone from dist. will print the schedules today.

As of Feb. 3 district draw had not been done yet . I will be going tonight feb-10 with the BB team and will find out if there has been anything updated on the schedule.

OK, lets get ahold of the referees that officiated the game when Kyle A pushed off in the end zone. I think they might officiate the game.

Reading the realignment protest forms, I see they are due to UIL by Feb. 12. I would presume it will be sometime after that date before district schedules are decided. Does anyone know if UIL does the finalizing of district schedules?

Newton's week 1 scrimmage is Silsbee. Week 2 scrimmage pending.

We don't have that problem at Newton. We just grow some more. Makes me wonder if some of the real good stadiums( like Butch, Lamar, Center, etc)will stop letting other playoff teams use their stadium.

Congrats to Lidney Thompson, he is not only a great coach but a good Christian man, how lucky we are to have you at Newton high school.

NEWTON SHOULD STAY 2A DIV1 - THAT DISTRICT WILL PROBABLY BE THE SAME EXCEPT kIRBYVILLE GOES DOWN AND BUNA GOES TO 3A. BUNA-ANAHUAC-NEWTON-KIRBYVILLE-E.CHAMBERS-WARREN-KOUNTZE-HARDIN-WOODVILLE I UNDERSTAND THAT ONE OF NEWTON'S PREDISTRICT GAMES NEXT YEAR MAY BE BRIDGE CITY. (MIGHT ALSO PLAY ORANGEFIELD).

PN-G CLAS OF '61---I am sure some of us will sign up, that is the ones of us that are still barely alive, after all out motto was ''if we can't so it, it can't be done, senior class of 61''. Maby we wil change that motto to ''We are not going to do it cause we can't run, senior class of 61''.

Have watched them both play. Tatum has enough size to match up with Crockett. If Tatum plays like they did against E. Chambers they will be hard to beat. Should be a good match up but I give the edge to Tatum with the difference being they have an outstanding field goal kicker.
