I don't mind the spending on elections.  What bugs me more is the lobbying.  There is a place for it.   Congress needs to know what issues are out there, but it shouldn't involve money/vacations/gifts/political donations.

Believe it or not, you can walk or ride a bike safely in Beaumont.    If you aren't hanging out and doing drugs late at night, Beaumont is actually pretty safe.   I would actually like to know how many people have been assaulted in some way just going down the street before 10 pm.  I bet it's not many.

Buddy. I am following you, but the business about being thrown into a soda fountain because he didn't know which door to leave by sounds like bs.  My skeptical side tells me he was being an ass.

I know plenty of cops.  I promise you, they don't want to shoot anybody because of the hassle afterwards(not to mention the trauma of just shooting someone).   But, I do know a few who probably shouldn't be there.  The power trip guys.  The law enforcement career seems to attract a lot of those guys.  That said, I would bet almost every time that the officer felt he had no choice.
