Congratulations Buna! The refs did y’all dirty and still came up with the win. Way to play through it.
The understatement of the year... The game was physical, which would have been fine, except they allowed OF to play physical and called 4 touch fouls on our best player. It was a bit ridiculous. Also, Scales threw a punch and only got a T, but not an ejection. I do give credit to Whitmire for placing him on the bench for a quarter after that.

Incorrect, his first season he won 14 games. Same amount of wins Buna had the season prior to KJ getting there. Like I said, I know KJ personally and we talk almost daily. He thinks the whole 6-51 thing is comical.
You also may want to check on how many games the Buna girls won the year before he got there. May not have won more than 23, but they won more district games and finished 3rd as opposed to finishing 4th last season. That with their 2 best players a year younger than when KJ had them. Reese was the offensive player of the year her junior year and regressed her senior year.

Its there in black and white. If you find where he won 14 games post the link here. I'm betting you cant find it.

To the casual fan, it’s all about offense. They don’t seem to notice anything about the other end of the floor. That is at all levels (NBA finals this year was a prime example).
Your point is spot on with me. I was extremely impressed with the Buna girls defensively. They defended better than 90 percent of high school girls teams I’ve seen. And a huge part of that was the effort they gave. All of that tends to be directly related to coaching in my experience.
You're right. They played really good defense. They had what I considered to be the best defensive player in the district in Reese Sherman. If not the best top 3 for sure.

Watching their games, I disagree. 😬with no size and having the ability to run 5-out and dribble drive offenses is high level. You just don’t win 23 games without offense. Anyways, like I mentioned before if you don’t like the young man just say that. His resume speaks for itself. Yall (assuming you’re from Buna since you know names and the supt) lost a good one.
I watched all the games too. If you think that offense was high level, it's not really worth discussing with you any longer. Everyone standing around watching one kid shoot 3's, and one other drive to the basket is just plain bad.

The fact that you said he under achieved is crazy. He had one really good player. And a couple other descent players that wouldn’t have touched the court at most schools 😂 he did really well for that he had to work with in my opinion.
That you're wrong about. Reese Sherman and Brynn Branch are both really good players. He most certainly under achieved. If you ever watched a game they ran no offense, just stood around and watched Brynn shoot 3's or Reese drive to the basket. Zero movement whatsoever.

6-51?? he hasn’t even been a head coach long enough at his previous school to play 57 games lol
Where ever you got that info from is incorrect. I’ve been knowing KJ for a long time and he’s brilliant. Ever thought there was a reason why he was recommended to take this bigger job. Also, 23-12 record in the first year and being eliminated by the state runner up isn’t a bad season. Just say you don’t like him, but you can’t discredit this young man. Fantastic hire for Buna, but hate to see him go. You can ask any coach in this area, and they will tell you the same.
It's easy to find. He was there for 2 seasons. The record is correct.

May I ask why you didn’t like the hire? I mean he did pretty good with that he had his first year at buna 🤷🏽♂️
That team underachieved. Had the returning offensive MVP of the District along with 2 other 1st team all-district players. Finished 4th. He had a more talented/experienced team than the previous year and the team got worse. The reason I didn't like the hire in the beginning was his 6-51 coaching record prior to getting the job. I know records aren't the only thing to judge a coach on, but 6-51 is absolutely horrific.

Thought this was the dude. The supt. choice.
I didn't like the hire from the beginning, but you are correct. 100% the supt. choice.

Sorry, I didn't know that. I guess they can do both, and if there is a schedule problem, the kid will have to decide.
Not many schools, if any in our area, have fall baseball teams. Kids play for teams outside of school during the fall if they want to.

It's an unfortunate injury, but in my opinion, the athlete should participate in any and all activities required of the respective teams they play on, as long as physically able.
I don't completely disagree. Individual drills, running, lifting, etc. I agree are perfectly fine. This incident involved a padded practice where a kid was injured. I just think it would be best for an AD to have the Varsity athletes currently participating in another sport just sit out. It's an activity with a much higher risk of injury. We don't see basketball kids practicing/playing while football season is going on do we? No, because no AD would allow that. Let's have the same common courtesy for the other sports too.

Hate to tell everyone, but if your kid plays college baseball, he will be lifting weights in season and sometimes heavy. Also a lot of running. Carry on….
Meh.. Everyone knows this. The kid that got injured wasn't lifting weights. Supposedly he was hit with a helmet in his elbow. In my opinion the kid shouldn't have been put in that situation. AD should've told the Varsity baseball players to sit that one out. I have no issues with the lifting or conditioning. However, anytime helmets/pads are on there is a higher risk of injury. This AD showed a total lack of respect for HIS baseball program.

According to Dave Campbell Texas high school football it said Terrier is retiring.
They're incorrect. He will still be the AD and baseball coach. He's not retiring

Certainly not the reason Buna lost. Kountze is simply better, a lot better. However, 0 free throws against a team as aggressive as Kountze tells the tale of lop-sided officiating.

At what point do the folks who were bashing the hire come on here and offer their apologies?
Here you go.. I don't apologize for sticking up for Remi getting what I believe he had earned. However, I most certainly owe an apology for simply judging KJ on his coaching record. So, I apologize, I was wrong!

I understand on paper it looked questionable. But I knew what kind of basketball mind KJ has and his passion for the game. And he’s always wanted to coach girls. It was a diamond in the rough situation to me.
I also understand how well liked Remi deservedly is there. But I think he will end up being thankful he stayed with boys. I tend to believe things happen for a reason. He’s destined to be a very good one, maybe even a great one.
Couldn't agree more. I think both coaches ended up where they are supposed to be. Even though I am one of the people who didn't want to see Remi leave. He will have a head coaching job sooner than later. He's gonna be great. KJ is also doing one hell of a job with the girls in Buna, and is going to be great with our girls program. In the end, both sides of this argument had merit because both coaches are good! I know OF and Buna should both be very happy with those hires.
