  1. That is not accurate. For UIL purposes the school is only considered magnet if the entire school is magnet and there is no zoned attendance students. The rule in its entirety reads: Conference and Dsitrict Assignment Policies and Procedures 2016-2017 and 2017-18 Realignment. 6.c.4 Multiple High School Districts with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school. A multiple high school districts with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school, shall have the magnet school placed in the same conference as the high school in that school district with the largest enrollment. A magnet school is defined as a high school within a multiple high school district where all students participate in the magnet curriculum. If the rule was for any schools that have a magnet program, then both Ozen and Central would be forced to play in 6A because West Brooks attendance has 6A numbers. Houston ISD has multiple schools throughout 4A, 5A, and 6A that have magnet programs as well as students there because of zoning, but they are placed by overall attendance because not every student is a magnet student. Schools like Fort Worth's Young Men and Young Women academies as well as some Dallas schools that only do UIL Academics are placed in 6A because their entire school is selective with no zoning. In Fort Worth's case they then work it out with the districts and drop to 5A after realignment is announced. In short Ozen should be 4A by rule but Beaumont ISD or some person within the district checked the box to opt up to 5A. If any school should have opted up it should have been Central to give West Brook at least one close district game.
  2. Tonight looking like the most hyped regular season game since the first time LeBron went back to Cleveland.
  3. Kobe deserves it. The fans voted him in. This is his final year. He's not going to make the playoffs and has turned down the Olympics so this is his last big game. He will probably score 20 and play very well. He's Kobe. One of the all time greats. Seeing him on the court with the best is what the fans want and what he deserves. He will always be an all-star. As for DrayMagic (I am huge Warriors guy) it was difficult, especially with Kobe being labelled a forward this year. Kawhi Leonard and he are very close. Kobe and Steph were automatic. The only other two players were KD and Westbrook. If Kobe was placed as a guard it would have been Steph, Curry, DrayMagic, KD, and Kobe. The West is loaded not just with teams but with great players. The bench will include some sort of Dirk, Draymond, Klay Thompson, LaMarcus Aldrige, Chris Paul, Lilliard, Cousins, Griffin, Harden, Duncan, Anthony Davis, Mark Gasol, Anthony Wiggins and Faried. The list has to be trimmed to just 12 which is almost impossible.
  4. I thought about that but it could be confusing with the Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Texas Rangers, and Houston Texans.
  5. I have people I talk to that have lived in Cameron for 20 plus years and the entire town was waiting to move down. They did not have the numbers to compete at 3A now 4A. As soon as they moved down they knew they were going to dominate. That talent level does help them, but 5 out of 6 if not 6 out of 7 (don't remember which) the coach does have to be doing something right.
  6. That possibly answers one problem, but what about military defense. We would have to spend in the billions to trillions for new jets, tanks, and everything other than the bases themselves, because the US would remove everything. Then what do we do for currency. We would have to create a new currency that would not be as strong. Trade agreements with other countries or prices for the even rice that is grown in Louisiana would skyrocket. Passports would have to be created. Businesses that are here in Texas may move back their headquarters to the US because of independence. School Educatio would be destroyed. There are more questions than answers and if it ever went to a referendum it would more than likely be voted no by around a 70-30 margin.
  7. That could be the case, but since he has been there Yoe has been to state 5 out of 6 years. Plus he was according to other sources the guy Barbers Hill was going after. Temple would be even more talent and a higher salary, plus it would be very local, closer than La Vega.
  8. Exactly why I said no. Our state does not want to tax people, because the people do not want to be taxed, but how do you pay for public utilities without raising taxes. We receive a lot of federal money for schools, highways, waterways, and even retirement. The terrible condition of the highways around the state now would only get worse. If Texas was to be its own nation we would be too dependent on oil, but with Iran coming back oil prices will drop even more. West Texas has been slowing down. Also if we were to become independent how would it retirement plans work for people who's job is not based in Texas. Then we would have to create an EU type situation with the US for free movement to other states. University prices would rocket up for students who want to go to a Harvard or a Yale. It may seem like a good idea, but there are more questions than answers. It would be similar to Scotland and the UK a few years ago. That was a great idea, until people realized what would we do for money and everything else. When the election results came in the idea was soundly defeated. The idea might seem good, but we were a country before and our leaders found a way to collect 10 million in debt during a time period when countries did not have debt. Texas will always be an outlaw state, but the majority would never vote to leave the US. The best we can hope for is to become more autonomous like what you see in Spain with Catalonia and the Basque Country.
  9. Just realized what this was referring to, but I thought NBA teams still had curfews.
  10. Here is updated as much as I can find: 1. East Chambers 7-0 2. Buna 5-2 2. Hardin 5-2 2. Warren 5-2 5. Kountze 3-4 6. Anahuac 1-5 (missing Kirbyville) 6. Deweyville 1-5 8. Kirbyville 0-6 (missing Anahuac) Only score that is unknown is Anahuac Kirbyville. If Anahuac won the are in 6th outright. If Kirbyville won then it is a 3 way tie at the bottom between Anahuac, Deweyville, and Kirbyville. That is what I figured based off of what was given on here, maxpreps, and twitter.
  11. If it happens, what city does the team take its name. Davis bought land somewhere north, but no one knows where. San Marcos seems like the logical choice, but the does the team pick San Antonio or Austin, since San Marcos is technically south Austin. It should be less controversial then when the Cowboys crossed the line, yet kept the title Dallas. If it does happen, the Raiders stadium would be larger than the town (60,000). San Antonio and Austin are growing and they deserve more teams. 3 D1 schools and 1 men's professional team is not enough for an area that will soon be basically the same as Dallas and Fort Worth. The plans are even to build one airport in the middle. Maybe then more people will understand the Dallas/Fort Worth hatred.
  12. Don't know how much this will help but this is from maxprep based on what results have been put in: East Chambers 5-0 Warren 2-0 Hardin 5-1 Buna 2-2 Kountze 1-3 Anahuac 1-3 Deweyville 1-6 Kirbyville 0-2 Obviously y'all have other scores that can make it more complete but that is what I found.
  13. I know it's already this way, but how does Tolar and Newton make any sense to be in the same region?
  14. Lee might. They would be guaranteed the playoffs and their fans would not have to be worried about that awful defense.
  15. More likely than not. Many Californians are moving to Austin. Plus with McCombs on board and corporate sponsors lined up it is too easy. Oakland does not have the money to help with a new stadium. San Antonio already has the Alamodome to use for a couple of years while they build a new stadium up north. Money wise for the NFL the Raiders can sell higher priced tickets because of the tech boom in Austin and North San Anton. Jerry Jones is the big obstacle especially if the stadium rivals Cowboys, but it would work better for the rest of the league if the will they-won't they situation would be put to bed.
  16. It is a rule. 7 schools or fewer in the same class allows UIL to place other schools in the district. Case in point Katy which has 7 so Strake Jesuit is usually thrown in. 8-10 gets their own district. Frisco is gaining a 5A district this year because of that. Above 10 splits the school district into two districts. Fort Worth has been using this rule. Houston opted up their smaller 4A schools creating 8 teams in 4A D1, forcing UIL to place them in one district. Navasota will be forced to travel or they can appeal and hope HISD would allow them to be placed in their district. The problem would be Navasota would have to play 8 out of 10 games against Houston schools and that will hurt come playoffs. Traveling might not be great but the district that Stepp has placed them in seems to give them good competition to prepare for the playoffs.
  17. All signs are pointing to the Chargers joining the Rams and the Raiders coming to San Marcos.
  18. UIL rules will not allow any other school in Houston's district. Houston has 8 which places them as one district with no outside teams forcing Navasota to travel.
  19. After what the owner said, there was really no choice.
  20. Maybe they and Fort Worth Dunbar can meet in the state championship of some sport and just call it the outlaw 4A championship or something like that.
