Just my thinking... TV has changed the game. It used to be the big programs and conferences had all the TV time, but with cable and internet more and more programs are able to have their games watched by people other than those just at the game.

10 teams is easier than 9 for scheduling. Was surprised at first Caney Creek was going to change but UIL smartly reversed course within a week. With a 9 team district you play everyone twice for 16 district games over 18 dates. That is a lot of games and in baseball and softball, it is every possible game but one. With a 10 team district, the teams are divided into two zones and play the teams in their zone twice and the other zone once. This equals 13 district games over 13 dates. Much easier for other sports with game limits, plus no byes. If the district teams choose to they can play a 14th game between the 1st place teams for district championship, 2 and 3 cross zone for the 3rd and 4th playoff spot, and then 4 and 5 would play each other. The Pac-12 is always overvalued. Cal losing to Hawaii would look the worse, but considering everything that has happened to them this week, it is almost surprising it is not 10-20 points.

Big 12 is easily the strongest conference top to bottom. They will be replaced by good coaches to make the conference that much more tough.

Smart did well this year, but that's who I thought Texas should have gone after last year. Plays a similar style and beat Smart when he was at VCU. TCU should be going after him this year. Him with Big 12 backing and his style will bring in recruits.

After the Madison scandal, Dallas checks everything twice. You can refuse to believe it, but if the players have transferred in from another school within Dallas ISD or elsewhere they have to sit out a year. It could be that 4 or 5 transferred in as freshman but then again a player from Kountze or Lumberton could transfer in to Silsbee. The same rules apply. If they don't live there it's one year waiting.

Skyline is 6A , but why should Lincoln and Carter be forced to play 6A? Dallas is not like Houston or even Beaumont ISDs. They do not allow players to transfer between programs or pick their high school. Madison did break the rules, but they were caught and Dallas has only doubled down on the efforts on making sure the players live in the attendance zone of the school they attend or else sit out. The coaches and administrators were fired, as well as the state championship being vacated. Skyline does accept players but only if they are in the magnet program and that is not many of the athletes. If you look at their football program they have a lot less players than other 6A programs. South Dallas has always just had athletes. Lincoln and Madison are a little bit more north, but Carter and SOC are a part of Dallas ISD. DeSoto, Duncanville, and Lancaster are all separate districts. It might be one of the most talented areas in the country based on the size of the area. Nothing against Silsbee. Hopefully they will win it next year. I just don't think schools should be forced to play in a different classification because it is in a city. Houston ISD is another story because of the rules, but Dallas, the San Antonio districts, Fort Worth, and Austin do not allow transfers. They follow the same rules as Silsbee and Hardin Jefferson and for that they should not be punished.

No they signed an agreement with NFHS. If you pay either $10 for a one day pass or $15 for a month subscription you can watch the games online Thursday and Friday. Saturday all but the middle two games will be televised on one of the Fox Sports Channels and will be available to stream on Fox Sports Go. The other two games, which includes possibly Big Sandy, can only be watched through subscription.
