I think there's a good chance Ned starts the season 3-3. If those three wins are all district wins I think they finish a game clear of Dayton and get the 4th spot. If for any reason they make that long ride to Missouri City to play FB Willowridge and have a night like they did against KP, or lose at home to Dayton the next week, it's pretty unlikely they make the playoffs. That last month of the season is brutal for the Dogs. 
I do think Ned's schedule is more manageable than Dayton and PNG's who they'll most likely be competing with for those last two playoff spots though. 

Lol, I would love to post the link to my instagram account that shows me doing it but that would really be the shallow eye-rolling thing, right? Just saying, how do you go from talking football to talking about stuff like that? Stuff that you would never say in person and is completely “irrelevant” to the topic? 

Both roads would be tough, but I get what he's saying though. Playing from the 2nd seed you wouldn't see Longview til Regional Final if you survive the first 3 weeks of the playoffs.
 
Speaking of Longview: I saw on another site that the stud WR from Waxahachie has transferred to Longview, that'll make 3 D1 WR prospects for em this season to go along with their stud RB who has a ton of offers just from this off-season and what should be yet another stout defense.

Then why did Vidor change the field to turf?

In the 5 years prior to last season FBM made it all 5 regional finals and played in two state title games. Their bad year last year they went 10-1. They got their reputation by doing stuff like beating Manvel by 30 in a regional final and beating our district champ 49-0 in a third round game. They usually have the most talent of any 5A school in the area outside of Manvel to go with one of the top 10 coaches in the area. Teams can have off nights but their reputation is very well deserved. 

We're actually working on our collective as we speak. So far we've secured the grass farms and tire shops in town. We have a meeting with our local crawfish vendors next week which we're expecting to really be a game-changer. 

I guess I'm in the minority? I liked the uniqueness and colors of the old format. This feels very "big box" like our board has fallen in line with other around the state. I'm sure it's for the best though.

I was at that Angleton game, stadium was damn near quiet the rest of the night. 

We've won outright or were co-champs 6 of the last 8 years in district play so we're kind of used to it by now. #6 is pretty stiff given the move up in class and the smallest enrollment but I think it would be more than deserved if we can start the season 2-0. I would imagine 1-5 are:

3. College Station 
4. Manvel 
5. Aledo

No playing surface beats a well-maintained grass field. The issue is that not many high school fields in Texas are well maintained due to weather, frequent usage and budgets. In 2018 I believe Crosby was ranked #2 in the state when we went to go play in Vidor's parabolic mud pit. It was one of the best handful of teams I've ever seen at Crosby but we only had one serviceable QB in Jaiden Howard. At the end of the first quarter Howard jumped over a Vidor defender's head, landed on his feet but in the mud and tore his ACL. Crosby lost 4 of our last 5 games and missed the playoffs for the only time in the last 17 years. Vidor's grass field literally took out our starting QB and ruined our season that year. 
In 2015 I felt like Crosby had a state final caliber team. A big reason for that was because of our starting RB at the time which was Carlos Grace. Grace was instrumental the year before as a sophomore in our playoff run and was looking borderline unstoppable behind the o-line we had at the time. The second game of the season he had 5 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter against Angleton. On his first carry of the 2nd quarter his foot got stuck in the turf on a basic cut and he tore his ACL. 
Two different scenarios that ended up with the same result. I do feel like the new turf surfaces are the best for all parties involved though. It sucks to say but I think you go ahead and risk the injuries in hopes of having a more consistent playing surface throughout the year.

So does Crosby have a better NIL package?

Looks like Crosby picked up another free agent last week. That makes it three that I know of this offseason. Running back from North Shore, receiver from GCM and now a DB from Spring. Think the DB from Spring could be a real contributor this year. If we could just get a 6'5" 275lb offensive tackle to sign with us we would be in great shape. The one we had last year will be playing on the defensive line next to our 6'3" 340lb nose tackle. 

I agree there too. I was more so talking about how the coach/administration felt about the issue. I think the PNG brass is happy they got a new coach of their choosing and even though he didn't want to leave I think BF is happy to done with the headache in Mid-County. That's what I meant by both parties coming out on the plus end.
