It’s even poor at the home games too now. 0 energy in the stands which matches our low energy coach

Game 1 we scored 20, game 2 we scored 17, game 3 we scored 14. If we can keep it up we should score 11 points next week? Like I said three years ago when we hired him, his offensive system doesn’t fit the personnel the Crosby community currently produces. Some people needed to see us lose all these games because we can’t score anymore before they can finally admit they didn’t know what they were talking about.
Good dude and really looks out for the players but any games Crosby is winning now are in spite of Willis, not because of him. We’ve been at a disadvantage on the sideline for three consecutive weeks. Now the losses are becoming part of the culture. The casual fans aren’t attending anymore, nobody donates to the fundraisers, there’s no anticipation of a big win Friday nights, etc.
This hire has gone pretty much as bad as it possible could. I heard a rumor that this was his last year but rumor or not if Crosby misses the playoffs for the 2nd time in three years I think he’s done/reassigned anyway. Either way, you’re looking at another sub .500 season in year three and with a loss to Friendswood potentially a regression to 4-7.

Is this the kid that the old coach told wouldn't be a star at Crosby?

We’ll see what happens against FB Marshall but it’s highly likely that after next week Crosby will be 0-7 against 5A-D2 teams in non-district play during the Willis era?

It’s disappointing because he’s been gifted some of Crosby’s more talented teams recently but will probably finish his first three years here with a 12-20 record at best. Now we have studs like Landen Hammer transferring out of the program which is what I warned about a couple years ago.

This is year 3 for those that were wondering? I hate it for the kids because they get tagged with the “Well, maybe Crosby doesn’t have the talent anymore?” moniker. It is what it is until we decide we want to be competitive again.

Man, I wouldn’t even wish that on y’all. Look at the talent it took for him to go 7-14 his first two years at Crosby. He would have no chance at BH.

I think he would be a great hire stylistically but no way you could expect near similar results. During the tenure of the last three coaches I think they’ve signed 3/4 FBS kids total? Atascocita has 3/4 FBS kids in every class on their roster. I think the 6A coaching experience itself might be more valuable though. I think BH will go to the Deer Park district and Crosby will get the North Shore/CE King district when we move to 6A but as it stands right now with the cluster of schools(probably La Porte included) in the area and the current growth rates BH could be playing Atascocita in the first round of the 6A-D2 playoffs after the next alignment. I think Stump is the best candidate possible if that scenario played out?

May sound crazy. But, Stump would be an interesting choice. It would be a pay raise, and he knows the area, people and competition. From BH perspective, if they do move to 6A, he has the experience there and in the district they may move into…
Of course, I wouldn’t expect him to be a long term hire. Another 5 year guy.

Not in the slightest. The teams we’re losing to are teams we used to beat the last 10+ years before the coaching change. I feel confident after watching all the teams in the region saying Prieto or Riordan would’ve had this Crosby team in the regional final this week. Prime example is y’all just beating A&M Consol. in the regional semis to make it to the 4th round. Three years ago Crosby dropped 53 on them in the 3rd round to advance in the D2 playoffs. Same schools, we just all moved up a class.

Angleton scored 13 points on Crosby this year and only got the second TD because of the long kick return to open the 3rd quarter. Crosby scored 0 offensive points that game. The last time prior to Crosby playing Angleton this season we shut them out 34-0, it was 38-15 Crosby the year prior. We’re just incompetent on offense under Willis which is why Coach Prieto could go to Dayton and beat us with less than half the talent. We hadn’t lost to Dayton is 12 years. It’s ALL coaching.

One other note we lost 3 games this year to teams in 5A D2 so no classification is not the issue.

Congrats to La Porte and Angleton on cleaning out the region. Both team drew good stylistic matchups in the regional semis and took advantage of them. Angleton looked like they improved their passing game against College Station but I would probably still lean La Porte by a score. I think I would favor either of these teams over Smithson Valley but I think La Porte would have the best chance against Aledo in the title game.

It's really confusing because it's a systems that have been proven to work are the opposite of this system, Crosby is at its best when it puts all its athletes into space and lets them be athletes, Running downhill has never been the culture of Crosby teams and does not exemplify the advantages Crosby typically has on the field which are superior athlete's and positional play.
I think these kids could thrive is a mode spread out system, and the Sophomore QB showed signs of being pretty good throughout it's just a shame that #2 and #0 go out without having a winning season as top contributors when we saw how great they were as sophomores.
Feels like a bunch of wasted potential, but I'm sure those two kids will go on to be undervalued prospects in college and will have great college careers.
This team underachieved and that's honestly on the coach at the end of the day 7-16 is not a Crosby Coach. The only thing this coach is gonna do is reinvigorate the two HS talk because go to 6a completely unprepared is going to be bad for the school and community.

I mean, you watch the game and it’s hard not to say Crosby had the bigger, more athletic team? What was drastically different is the way the two teams were coached. College Station had a dynamic offense that got the ball to eight different receivers and six different ball carriers while Crosby’s approach is the exact same as it’s been the first ten games of the year. Giving it to Yarbrough as many times possible and hoping he would break one.

I will say Crosby should’ve probably had at least one and probably two more scores due to drops by our X-receiver but 5-6 is 5-6. Crosby probably had ten sophomores start at some point this season so in normal times you would say the outlook is promising but I don’t think the fact that Crosby can’t win a game from the sideline will change no matter the talent/experience/etc., we put on the field during the Willis era. He’s 21-34 his last five years with zero winning seasons, it kind of is what it is at this point. There were some bright spots this year like the overall defensive play of the team but there’s no way you can take this system/culture into 6A and expect to compete.

Crosby scored 6 offensive points against the top two teams in the district this year. Some would call it process because we finished in 3rd place. I would say it’s the reason Willis couldn’t get a reputable OC to work for him. That’s a game Crosby would’ve won in a blowout just like the previous times we played Angleton but here we are. Maybe a miracle happens in College Station next week.

Angleton wasn’t able to run against La Porte. They burnt LP up with long passes to their tall, speedy WR’s. I seem to remember y’all’s secondary being better cover guys than LP’s. It will depend on if y’all can stuff the run like LP did.
Angleton’s D is pretty stout. They were keying on Barnes, and Simon was an unknown to them. So, he had a big day to the tune of 351 yards and 4 TD’s. (Of course, he’s also a special player—freshman or not.)
Y’all are gonna have to scrounge for yards.
It may be a lower scoring game than what you think. But, I think you’re in-line with the low Crosby score.
I’m thinking somewhere closer to 21-7 if y’all’s pass D can hold up. The Angleton QB likes to just launch it & LP missed a couple fairly easy INT’s y’all may be better able to get. Not that you’ll be able to score off them. But, it could take possessions away from them & keep the score within a pretty big upset range.
Good luck to both teams, and come away injury free & PO ready.

It's been a while since there was reason to to start a thread involving a Crosby game outside of complaining about the coaching. With both teams 4-3 on the season but coming into the game 4-0 in district play this one might be worth discussing. Teams are 1-1 since they've been in the district together with each team winning their home contest(La Porte's home game was at BH). This game will likely determine who gets to avoid a first round matchup with state ranked #6 College Station and a probably early exit. The loser of this game will still have an opportunity to finish in 2nd place and even win a share of the district championship with La Porte playing an undefeated Angleton next week and Crosby playing Angleton the week after. The district could very well end up in a three way tie for first place with Angleton, Crosby and La Porte all finishing 6-1 in district play. Fun few weeks to finish the season in 11-5A-D1
As far as the game goes it feels like a great matchup for this year's version of Crosby. La Porte's offense is run heavy and the strength of Crosby's defense is their front seven. Crosby has run the ball extremely well since district play has started, albeit against lower level competition, and based on what La Porte has shown on film personnel wise it looks like we should have continued success in that department. I think the key to the game from Crosby is getting La Porte in 3rd and 5+ situations where we can pick up stops on the run plays they'll try and some defended passes that will force punts in a potential lower scoring field position game. Crosby will also need to clean up some of the penalties and ball-handling from prior weeks if we want to give ourselves the best chance to win.
