Also, FF has the authority to deny a student's application to their academy. Therefore, they can control it's enrollment to keep them at a 4A enrollment.

On what grounds are they allowed to deny a student's application.  Unless a student has a criminal record or has a piss poor academic record, it seems like there could be some lawsuits in their future.  Do they only accept "Communications majors" or what?

We've seen the "the list".  Was this all for show with their man already decided on?  Was there any "off the record" contacts?  Probably not, unless someone on the inside can contradict.  The mediocre mindset, or losing mindset, is like the welfare state, it's hard to break away from.  Does the I-10 Vidor 0 mindset still permeate the Vidor psyche?  Jimmy Johnson once said:  "the enemy of great is good".  Also from JJ, and I'm paraphrasing:  Everyone is in a comfort zone.  You have a decent season, maybe make the playoffs.  Even if you aren't close to a championship, you think you are successful.   Is this where Vidor is at?  You go from a losing record coach to a losing record coach and you think you've accomplished something.  Thoughts?

I don't know the origin of the phrase but people have been saying versions of it for over 100 years.  I like the way Jim Collins describes it.

“Good is the enemy of great. And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great. We don't have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don't have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life.”

I am not questioning the hire.  I like Dubois and think a lot of him. I hope the Vidor faithful will support him and give him a chance.

Credeur coached Lumberton back in 2007.

He hasn't coached at Lumberton since 2015 I believe.

I might be remembering wrong but I believe Credeur's last football season in Lumberton was indeed 2012.  2013 & 2014 were Larry Haynes.  Babin started as HC/AD for the 2015 season.

  4. It is easy at the high school, and even college level, to not recognize talent and potential greatness.  I didn't think Hurts was "all that" coming out of high school and I was wrong.  For the record, I didn't see what all the fuss was about with Marshall Faulk at San Diego State either.  I guess that's why I am not a recruiter.  Hurts is the real deal and Faulk didn't turn out too bad either.

  5. I know there are many more that could be added to that list but based on RBs I witnessed personally in HS, I would have to add Kevin Faulk to the list from his days at Carencro HS in Louisiana.  Easily, the most dominant HS running back I've ever seen.  Probably the fastest, strongest and most athletic person on the field every friday night and he was just 15 years old when I saw him.

That was a weak year for DFW teams.  Mansfield LR was created in 2012, Frisco LS in 2010. So 2 new schools in 5a with not much following and  no representatives in 6a.  It’s hard to say DFW won’t travel based on that 1 year.

I think we are agreeing, or at least you are helping to make my point.  My point was not that DFW teams won't travel.  My point was that the UIL and others seem to think that the low attendance #s at NRG was because the games were hosted at NRG in Houston instead of at Jerry's World in the Metroplex.  If Allen, Southlake Carroll, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Highland Park, etc had been playing at NRG, the attendance would have probably been much higher.  NRG and those of us close to Houston shouldn't be penalized by the UIL just because DFW teams in 4A-6A sucked that year.  And for the record, George Ranch was pretty new that year as well (2010 I think).  Bottom line is that the UIL should not base decisions off of one year at NRG when DFW teams that year were either sub-par or had a small following.  I used to watch the games at the Astrodome in the 80s and I attended the games on Saturday at NRG without any of "my" teams participating.  I would not travel 5 hours to watch a few state games unless a team that I followed was playing.  It would be nice if the UIL rotated the games but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Here's some unofficial numbers I found NOT counting 2020 for the COVID year its easy to see why the UIL never returned to NRG...while the numbers have been up and down they've still been above 200,000 consistently that's also why UIL state won't be going anywhere

    2012: 205,238

    2013: 221,339

    2014: 250,652

    2015: 156,143

    2016: 235,311

    2017: 203,423

    2018: 221,167

    2019: 217,679

    2021:220,585

    2022:213,665

Just looking at 1 year is not very scientific.  But that's all we have is 1 year in Houston so let's look at it.  How many Dallas-area teams were playing in the state game at NRG, how good were they and what kind of following did they have?  Here is the lineup:

    2A Division 1  Canadian   Refugio 61-20

    2A Division 2  Bremond   Albany 35-20

    3A Division 1  Brock   Cameron Yoe 43-33

    3A Division 2  Waskom   Franklin 33-21

4A Division 1  Waco La Vega   Argyle 33-31

    4A Division 2  West Orange-Stark   Celina 22-3

5A Division 1  Richmond George Ranch   Mansfield Lake Ridge 56-0

5A Division 2  Cedar Park   Frisco Lone Star  22-6

6A Division 1  Galena Park North Shore   Austin Westlake  21-14 OT

6A Division 2  Katy  Austin Lake Travis  34-7

Kyler Murray and the Allen crowds of the previous 2 years were gone.  Metroplex teams, the ones that made it, got dominated.  Argyle, Celina, Lake Ridge and Lone Star all lost and the most were not even close.  So, yea most people from the metroplex didn't want to travel to Houston to watch those arse whoopings.

That was awesome too. The look of disbelief on Lamarque team’s faces at the end of the game was truly priceless.

That was a fun game to be at.  The defending State Champs getting beat by little ole Lumberton.  The win against Dayton might have been the most impressive IMO.  Dayton made a deep run in 07 and won state in 08.  Parade All American AJ Dugat was a beast.  Lumberton beat Dayton 8-7 on a gutsy 2pt conversion to win the game.  Lumberton defense holding Dayton to 7pts was about as impressive as anything I have ever witnessed.

@AthleticSupporter - Jock you do live lumberton right? you got me doing this extra work lol

I'm trying to teach you how to fish instead of just feeding you a fish.  But I'm tired of watching you struggle so I'll give you the answers. lol

Here are the current enrollment #s for 8th grade thru 12th grade for 22-23 school year.

8th (335)  9th (336)  10th (315)  11th (263)  12th (316).  We all know these #s fluctuate.  Take the senior class, for example.  They have 316 this year but they had 358 their 9th grade year.  My point is that if we replace the 12th grade enrollment with the 8th grade enrollment, snapshot next year would be 1249.  I would expect the new UIL cutoff # to be around 1330 and that is being conservative.  Even if the cutoff # stayed at 1299, Lumberton still remains in 4A.  Facts don't care about anyone's feelings.

Are you in denial? Large population growth = more kids all the way up the schools... I hope they do stay 4a.

I never said Lumberton wasn't growing or that LISD wouldn't have more kids each year.  On average, LHS grows by about 10 kids every year and will continue to grow.  But the UIL cutoff for 4A/5A will continue to grow also and it grows at a pace 3x that of LHS' growth.

    Where's my numbers guy here

I'll say this,  if UIL ever starts determining classifications based on# of houses built or population growth,  Lumberton is in trouble. But because UIL only looks at enrollment in grades 9-12, Lumberton will rain in 4A for the foreseeable future.

They won the game because they controlled the clock and won with the run game. Game ball goes to the kicker.. take away his fg’s the outcome is different.

even though the refs made bad calls on both sides those kids still had to play the game.

you’re hilarious though.. but hey idk this sport

ok, I'll hand it to you.  At least you didn't say the refs picked on FBM or something crazy like that.  The Buffaloes had a tremendous amount of talent for sure.  This was an impressive win and an upset for PNG.  Good game for both teams.

See what I’m saying! Y’all just had a penalty towards y’all because y’all broke the rules.. and my living room starting shaking with the boos 😂😂😂

That's funny.  You just commented on your own comment.  That's classic!  Dude, you are probably fun to hang out with at parties but you don't know jack about sports or anything else worth talking about.  I like you though.

Lol. Really?  he hit him out of bounds? Cut it out..

Y'all have a lot of great players but they have to learn to follow the rules, you know, the ones that we all have to live by everyday.  There are consequences to breaking rules.  It's not the MAN that is keeping anyone down.  It's just  basic intelligence and decency in following rules. That's all.

What was Miller’s final stats for the game? That kid is a stud and definitely should be a 5 star.

Miller earned the 5th star with that last TD.  It looked like Bo Jackson on the old Tecmo Bowl video game.  I hope he stays in Texas wherever he goes.  He'll be fun to watch on Saturdays and possibly on Sundays.
