  1. I like Salk Lick, but my favorite is Cooper's in Llano.

Cooper's was my favorite for years and years. Great place. I have yet to meet anyone that braved the early morning lines at Franklin though and didn't believe it was the best they've ever had. At least for brisket and ribs. Kreuz in Lockhart is still the best sausage I've had but I've heard Micklethwait Meats in Austin may take that crown.
  2. I am so glad the Democrats are trying to make sure we all go to heaven.

And please pray for Stevenash, Craig S. As he has told us how financially successful he is on many occasions, he may be too rich to get into Heaven.

(Nash, you may be many things, but dumb isn't one of them. I know the point of my posts didn't go over your head.)
  3. Would this be the Al Sharpton / Jesse Jackson type "preacher" you know the self proclaimed, or the type where God has truly called....I'm guessing the first....cause people called by God don't support killing babies, sleeping with same sex, or disobeying the laws of the land.....hard to be true to your calling of God and be a liberal.

You should be all for higher tax rates on the rich, Craig S. After all, you have it all figured out on who can be a Christian and who can't. And I'm sure you are familiar with when Jesus said it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Shouldn't your solution be to tax the wealthy more so they won't have as much, thus they will be able to go to Heaven?
  4. Moderates have no beliefs of their own. Otherwise they wouldn't be called moderates. They go whichever way the wind blows. Answer me this: Can you go to the library and find books on the "Great Moderates" in history?
Again -- even the Bible talks against being in the middle of the road. That ought to tell you something. Well, to some of us anyway! ;)

Start by reading biographies of Ronald Reagan. The moderate that Fox News/Limbaugh have convinced their sheep was an ultra-conservative...
  5. Groveton beat Cooper 82-6 in the Regional Semi-Finals (Quarter-Finals...3rd Round), not the State Semi-Finals.
I didn't realize Bam Morris was a senior for Cooper that year. I remember wanting to go to that game (had a couple of friends from Corrigan that were going) but ended up going with some other friends to see Newton/Mexia instead. I did go to the Groveton/Corrigan-Camden game the next week. That was the first time I got to see Rodney Thomas and I was thoroughly impressed.

Dang, you're right. It's hell getting old.
  6. Groveton would give us our 3rd to 4th round exit every year I was in high school. He was a year younger than me and a super nice, humble guy. Saw them play Cooper in the state semis the year after I graduated (bam morris was a senior for Cooper). Rodney and Groveton won 82-6. Yes, 82-6 in the state Semifinals. #Rip
  7. I understand and appreciate that. I have to conduct myself in my work in a particular manner and have to be very cautious about making any potentially misleading or inflammatory remarks. I too must be precise and accurate when it comes to calculating returns, volatility, etc and if I am not, somebody will likely hire one of your brethren to pursue me. But this is just a message board. I am thinking that it is sort of like a couple of guys sitting at a bar talking about all sorts of things. I don't feel the need to maintain that precise business conduct when I am having a conversation that really doesn't have a serious impact on anyone.

Of course this is a less formal and less important setting. I don't disagree. However, I was just pointing out I am a creature of habit and my brain is wired a particular way.
  8. Let's be clear about something because I can see you believe my motives are something they are not. I have been trained to be sure of what is being asked before answering a question. So if someone asks something that could have more than one meaning, you ask for clarification. Ambiguous terms by definition could have a multitude of meanings. Second, I have been taught to not make presumptions about what someone else is thinking or at least not to articulate them without confirmation from that person. They are the best source for that information and I really think assumptions/presumptions are a slippery slope. So it's not an attack on your interrogatorive skills, which I see you practice ferverantly on this board. It's simply habit from years of practice.
  9. I too, do not know Westend and have never met him. Hence we are quite similar in that respect. I do have a pretty good idea where he stands politically and, considering your activity on this board, it would be hard for me to believe you are unaware of his political predilections even though that is the case you are trying to build. I just don't see the need for the word/semantic games as you are the only person here who has problems with me regarding ambiguity and parliamentary procedures. I think I will just continue with my "less than enlightened" methods of communication as nobody else seems to be troubled by it. One more tiny item. While the bulk of my education is from the school of hard knocks and not from a prestigious university, I can still tell you that your use of the word THEIR ( as in "for their to be motivation") ought to be spelled t h e r e.

When someone resorts to a spelling argument, you know you have them. Sorry I misspelled a word in one of my posts. If I spent my time correcting spelling, grammatical errors, etc. on this board (including some of yours), I would likely have time for nothing else in my life. But congratulations on your find!
