after 4 consecutive trips to the finals and a 40/41 game win streak within the past decade just what is it that makes you think they dont have that "mindset"?

A poster just said they care if they lose a preseason game. You should care but it's not as important as working on things.

know who else cares if/when they are on a 31 or 32 game win streak(Carthage)

Honestly Carthage has started off 1-3 and won state. If we lose our win streak, it's not that big of a deal to most dawg fans. Undefeated preseasons never got an award. . I have the If you are a state cintender, your goal should be to win state of course you try to win every game but if you have weak points you need to work on you do that. Not trying to be funny at all, but elite teams have different mindsets. Surprised WOS doesn't have that mindset.

Carthage didn't miss assignments on either of our tds. One we drove down the field with mostly Jones running the ball, he broke a couple of tackles and scored. The other was a screen where Kirkwood broke a tackle and just accelerated through the defense. If Crosby only averages 30ppg this year we might go 6-4 and really make y'alls win look worthless. Like I said, good win. I'm done with the Carthage talk, I'm sure y'all have a game this week too. We trying to get prepared for a hell of a lot tougher opponent than Carthage was this week.

I honestly came here to get the x's and o's for this game and I saw one of your fans post about Carthage. Had zero plans of even posting. Good luck this week.

I agree with everything you said. Judging from the way Nederland and PNG were able to beat their 4A-D2 opponents you would probably have to say Crosby is projected to finish no better than third in the district right now.

I made this argument with a friend of mine on Saturday night. I think Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state. I think Crosby will avg 30 a game for the rest of the season and this is why. Like I said, i feel Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state, but EVERYTIME time Carthage, missed an assignment, it was a big play by Crosby or a TD. I think the offense is good enough to score on any team from anywhere one the field. The defense seems suspect me. Hey I could be wrong.

Carthage might be 4AD2 in enrollment, but everyone knows their football numbers are WAY higher than the average 4AD2. Athletes flock to places like Carthage. 2 classification difference doesn't hold water in this case.

I'll give you that and we don't get as many move ins as people think. Although we have big football numbers, we could never realistically compete in 5a D1 for a title. Numbers don't mean they're all talented. We definitely lack depth to play any of the 5A D1 schools and up.

No, only the field goal was on the short field. Lol, you just said don’t say “if” and then said “if”. Y’all needed a kick return to win and we “may not have scored”. Lol, I got you though bro. Good win. We’ll see how well Crosby plays the rest of the year to see how good a team y’all actually beat.

I hope Crosby does VERY well. Talk about a special team's td to win, heck I thought we would lose bc we were undermanned. Yall lost to an average offense. 17 points to show for 5 turnovers, 2 classification difference and you talk about how we needed a kick return to win? Lol we shouldnt have won.

Your defense isn't that great dude, at least it wouldn't be in 5A. It should've been 31-7 at a minimum at halftime. It was poor offensive execution on our part just like y'all feel it was poor execution on Carthage's part in the first half. Jones rushed for 102 yards on 14 carries so it's not like y'all played the run great. If Myles is healthy and can take off and run the whole game it's a different story. There was virtually no RPO game with him limping around like that.

You're infatuated with trying to prove what y'all are but just needed a late game kick return to beat the #12 team in 5A-D2. We lost to Manvel by 33 points last year and still went to the D2 finals, even inside of 5A it's a whole different level of competition. In 2016 Crosby played Manvel in week 2 and lost by 14 points. The next week Manvel played North Shore and only beat them by 13 points. Not in anybody's wildest dream did they think Crosby was only one point worse than NS.

If I'm not mistaken. All 17 offensive points was in a short field. 5 turnovers, 17 points. Don't talk about if so and so is healthy. 2nd online and 3rd running back. If we had our first offense, yall may not have scored.

Come on bro. Just be glad Myles was cramping and limping around the whole second half. Carthage MAY have had 50 total rushing yards tonight, kid I saw running it in that Lindale scrimmage wouldn’t have made much of a difference.

Did you miss 4 olinemen out?

Both coaches were coaching to win the game. Surratt was going for it on 4th down from his own 35 yardline and instead of taking the three at the end of the first half Prieto went for it on 4th and we had an open drop. There’s always going to be the question what happens if we take the FG now but the fact still remains of the Crosby receiver makes the routine play we’re probably having a different discussion

You give up a freaking kickoff return for a td at the end of the game. If the Crosby kickoff guys stay in their lanes we’re probably having a different discussion. Our qb just flat out missed, as in didn’t even see, guys behind the Carthage coverage twice. That’s not coaching.

Maybe you can say Carthage double-teaming Casey which slowed him down, and us deciding to continue to single cover Hatten which allowed him to carry Carthage was a coaching, but again if the dbs get their heads around we probably get s couple more picks and are having a different discussion.

Crosby’s defense outplayed Carthage’s, Carthage’s offense outplayed Crosby’s, and Carthage made one special teams play Crosby didn’t. Crosby lost the game in the third phase but all three count on the scoreboard. You take your L and try to improve. I will say it’s not disappointing to see where we’re were tonight and know we still have vast room for improvement.

Well answer this. What coach keeps an injured qb in for a PRESEASON game? Can we say that's not good coaching?

If I'm not mistaken, WOS tried to play Carthage when they both had the same open week

What happened? Was it before the season? Short notice? If it were me, no way in heck would I play the only team who can knock me out of the playoffs. I think that's where Argyle went wrong with Lavega the past couple of years. Potential  opponent yes, but not a guaranteed regional finals opponent.

Ok Hoss, cool.  Tell you what, yall come on down and do the two-step with a couple of these hurricanes and we'll come on up and try some of your schedule. Chillin in that cream puff weather can may make you look better than u really are. Just saying, it's not these kids fault they didn't get to knock heads with a couple better teams.

You're right it's not the kids fault but at the end of the day WO-S probably looks better than they really are due to the competition as the other poster stated. Carthage has played better teams and it should be no argument that you should take them more as face value than WO-S. Maybe WO-S is that good,  but when you take emotion out of things, Carthage seems to be the more proven team.

Carthage vs WO-S is for the state title this year. Winner of that game wins it all. I know I should be humble and say “any given Friday”, but let’s just be real. Carthage has steam rolled basically the top 5 in DII with the exception of WO-S. If any team is going to keep Carthage from dropping down and dominating DII it’s gonna be up to the Mustangs to do it. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Everybody has a ton of respect for WO-S and fans have followed them closely over the years, especially on that run from 2014-2017. Always liked watching them play. We have some history from 2013. That was a hell of a game, and TBH that was for the state title. That was the best team Carthage saw in the playoffs that year. And then the next 4 years WO-S went and played in the state championship game.

But if and when that game happens, it’s going to be a defensive battle. I know WO-S is known for their D, but Carthage has had arguably the best D in the state 3 out of the last 4 years. It’s just that they don’t get as much credit because of Surratt’s offense. I think it will be a fairly low scoring game.

2013 was weird. The wind was like 27 mph. Worst wind conditions I've ever seen. The game was understandably sloppy for both side.

As for Carthage fans being arrogant, don't let a small sample size of fans fool you. Truth is, we hear this EVERY year. Does WOS have the best shot? Yes, bit Carthage takes this.

4 out of 5 games have been against top 10 teams at the time. This dawg D is real.

Not trying to run down Lumberton but the last 3 points were against 9th graders. Honestly Carthage JV could’ve beaten Lumberton. The 15 and 14 by Gilmer and PG were real. Rest of the scoring was done on the 2nd team for the most part besides maybe 7 points a game.

And to call the play calling predictable is silly. Could’ve ran sweep left and sweep right all game and won by 30. Cannot believe Lumberton was in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Wow you could have let that one slide lol. As a coach of a school that Lumberton could beat by 21, it's a good moral victory. Kids can at least say they scored the most points when they get back to school.

Carthage is a good football team. The offensive line is what I was the most impressed with. I believe they are very beatable by a team with a good front 7.(I know I’m going to catch a lot of crap for saying that) seemed like some very predictable play calling, but then again that’s the only time I have seen them play

LOL. Last words of many teams we've played Why would they show anything against this Lumberton team? If you said beatable I'd have no issue, but "very" beatable? We beat the maybe the best dline in the state when we played PG.
