It doesn't matter. I'm happy. ctown is happy. I'm not gonna worry about a game that won't be played.
Same here. Congratulations to WOS. The best defense of all time in Texas. In the day and age of the spread offenses, this is more impressive than that D field in 83. Would have loved to see them against Gilmers offense, match up would have been out of this world.

This had to be my favorite Carthage team of all time.

The only argument against that is the fact that Carthage barely escaped Silsbee. WOS beat them without much difficulty but you can't really go off that.
True but I'm pretty sure they improved since week 4. Never good to compare playing the same teams.

If WOS wins they will be the best in 4A. I think Carthage would have a shot against them but that's more of my homerism than common sense.
-
I agree. Would have been interesting to see China Springs linebackers vs your running game

La Vega beat Argyle by 2 points last year, Celina beat Argyle handily and WOS beat Celina so I beg to differ
You can't go by who beat who. It's all about match ups. Lavega had just as much talent as WOS if not more last year. Would have been a helluva game and I think Lavega would have won by 7. Good luck in state thus year though.

Carthage in title game. SMH
Never should have beat Silsbee in 1st round.
This is by far my favorite state team Carthage has had. After this year, I think the Dawgs just have yalls number. Many Carthage folk would have not been surprised if yall had won. Sure you guys noticed the lack of Carthage posters that week compared to previous years. We knew they had potential to lose the first round or go all the way. Just depended on which team showed up. Do yall think yall could have ran the table if yall had won?
-
I'm less excited about the D2 title game now. I was looking forward to the WOS vs Gilmer offense . How many years are they set for a runa like this?
-
Lavega still hasn't been beaten yet either. I would pay big money to see those two play. Don't know about this year yet but last year I believe Lavega was the best in 4a.
-
Should be a good one. I have no idea what Carthage team is going to show up. I honestly don't know how to call this one.

The best in D1?????
If they played to their potential yes but like i said, they haven't been so i wouldn't be surprised if Silsbee actually won.
-
Silsbee does have a shot this year. A very good one. At their best I believe the dawgs are the best in D1. Problem is, they haven't been anywhere near their best. Predicting a tight game that can go either way.

Well for starters they are returning almost all their starting offense and defense for last year! And honestly they really didnt have any close games and they blew out Celina in the SC game, so why not predict WOS to win it again unless your from NE Texas
I'm indeed from carthage and if you read my whole post, you'd is that WO-S is my pick to win it in DII, but it's not guaranteed. Heck once carthage started to roll in the playoffs last year, I thought no one could beat them until Lavega came into the picture and whooped us in every aspect of the game.

So it begins on SETX too. Chuk is this your other name?
No not really. Just explaining why people on smoaky are replying to him.

The only reason this thread is getting so many reads on smoaky is b/c of the stupidity of the post. WOS have been good for years and i was happy to see them finally get over that hump last year, but just a little amazed how one can ask this question when all they have played are extremely weaker teams. WOS is my favorite to win it all but I guarantee there are plenty of teams in the state who would put of the same numbers against those teams.

What did the conversation consist of, is it public friendly? Ha
At the beginning of the season I was just blowing hot air about Dallas Lincoln winning it all. Very lucky pick on my part, A LOT of pieces had to fall into place for this one. Shocked they beat Silsbee.

Not the first. You lose. Pay me.
Do you remember our conversation back in December? You had to know I couldn't resist bringing it up lol.

Unfortunately if Lincoln makes it, Silsbee will be too much. Lincoln is very young. Anything can happen but still.......
-
Lincoln by 7 and bring on Silsbee.
-
Hey i'm still stuck in the old days. Luckily i'm not the one driving lol
-
I have Lincoln. I picked them from the jump(although some thought i was crazy lol) so I'm sticking with them all the way to Austin.
-
We got beat by a better team point blank. 4 d1 commits but about 4 more D1 recruited underclassmen. We didn't come to play and they did. Funny thing is, the style of offense played by Silsbee would have probably fared better. You need an athletic QB to beat them and although Blisset is very good, he's not a threat with his feet.
-
The region yall ate put in next year will have alot to do with your success next year. Of things stay the same I don't expect this region to be too tough outside of Carthage and Silsbee. Everyone else is losing too much.

If Gilmer loses you guys have my support.
West Orange-Stark 24 Sweetwater 6/FINAL/WO-S BACK TO BACK CLASS 4A, DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONS!

You can't go by like opponents. It's all about match ups. I think Gilmer would have Matched up better with you guys than Sweetwater. Yall would still be Champs but I believe Gilmer could have put a couple of scores on the board. It's all about match ups.
As for Carthage / Silsbee, I just think the Dawgs have their number. Going into the game, many in Carthage knee there was a good chance we'd be airing up basketballs. That's was made this team so special. District play left a ton of question marks.
