  1. I had a great time sOrting on the Silsbee side. Never told anyone where I was from. Carthage may have a great program but we have some dead fans when it comes to cheering. Silsbee had crazy speed. Number 6 had a rough game but redeemed himself with the endzone interception.  There was only one bad call and that was the incompletion. Luckily Silsbee got a first on the next play. Good luck in bball. Too bad 4a has turned into AAU.

  2. Gonna get ugly early Carthage by 23 only after Silsbee scores a few late V second string D & O. 51-28 Dawgs.

Good luck to both teams. Stay injury free and safe travel for all. See ya in Tyler

Ironically I have this song in my head

"Somebody's  gone get they a** kicked

Somebody's gone get they wig split"

In all seriousness I'm looking forward to the game. Close first half then Carthage pulls away.

  3. I'm hearing some Lumberton kids are driving up to Tyler to support our Hardin County neighbors

Heck they can come out and see this butt whippin too lol jk

Seriously though, I saw this post on smoaky and I was thinking almost the exact same thing

"For me silsbees 800lb gorilla in the room, that they want us to simply ignore, is chapel hill. they dismiss it as they just scored as many as they had to to win. The dawgs just completely destroyed them and made them look like a jr high team. I could look past this if it would've been much earlier in the season, but we played them the last week of the regular season and , if im not mistaken, silsbee played them the very next week in round one of playoffs. I just cant ignore this. If silsbees D gives up 46 to chapel hill, how many can we score?"

  4. I don't necessarily disagree. I go to what my eyes tell me. My eyes are confused. They sometimes say we aren't very good. And then my brain kicks into action. And it tells my eyes, you know, we have beaten 2 D1 teams that could quite possibly play each other for a State Championship. So again, I don't know how good we are, but I still don't know how good we have to be to get the job done.

I still can't get the Pleasant Grove game out of my head. Good teams win in spite of mistakes, but those are not mistakes Gilmer usually makes. Even during the Carthage game, I've never seen the two teams play that sloppy ever.

  5. AAW, I think you and I both know all my comments are either for a few laughs and never to offend. I see the way these over night Carthage post come here once a year and stir the pot and leave. I have been a loyal poster since 2009. I know I get wild every once in a while but I back Silsbee 100%! Most (not all) Carthage fans make snob  assaninie comments all thru this thread and I'm the village idiot? All of them will be gone by Friday but I will still be around a always.

I've said this before. I look forward to coming here every year b/c where else am I going to get info on Silsbee. I will trust a fan who's been to every game over a news paper article any day of the week.Yes I'll be gone as soon as we lose or stop playing southeast tx teams. I love this region b/c there's a message board other than smoaky. Truth be told all the "best football is played in east texas" talk is numbing.

  6. You Carthage fans need to understand something. Every team fan base has one and Badsanta is our "one".

Please be considerate of this fact and continue posting.

I really do appreciate you guys coming over here to this site and posting here. Thanks

I only wish I could return the favor at Smoaky.

Aggies one thing about hs message boards is this, the village idiot of any town finds their way here.

  7. Who is the last athlete from Carthage to go pro in anything? Football, soccet, baseball, tennis, shuffle board, method lab cooking etc???

Huh!?! You've brought up GDP and now this. What's next, literacy rate and IMR in Carthage? As for as pro players, we have some that are capable but don't always make the right choices. I do believe the last perfect game in baseball was Philip Humber a couple of years from baseball. We've had quite a few pros in baseball. Trust me, alumni games were never pretty lol.

  8. I think what the Carthage people are trying to point out to the Silsbee people is that Carthage won their district, NO, I am sorry, I think they were second to Kilgore. Kilgore beat El Campo, No, I think El Campo beat Kilgore and then El Campo beat Silsbee, NO, Silsbee beat El Campo, gosh, could this be possible?.

Carthage doesn't play to win district titles, they are great but we want the ship. As for regular season losses keep in mind we only had ONE undefeated title season. We are known for losing during the regular season.

  9. Silsbee can't win at anything according to most of these Carthage folks..lol

The come over to the site with their back handed "We respect Silsbee" but Carthage deserves a whole different level of respect compliments, and then they begin to give their outlandish predictions.

Friday can't get here fast enough, because win or lose they will be gone after this weekend.

I'm not backing away from away from that respect comment I made. I'll put it this way. Whomever beats Silsbee will have to be good and I'm sure the fans of that team will be happy but EVERYTIME Carthage loses the fans erupt like they one the championship. Because of our past, people take notice when it's time to play Carthage and I just don't think Silsbee brings that same type of reaction right now.

As for the game, have you guys play a team that can finesse you and then can pound the ball and put the game away? Honestly I was pulling for you guys to win because I think we match up better with yall and I hope I don't regret hoping that.

  10. I agree but wasn't really trying to argue, just wanted to see why he thinks he is better than TABC.  Granted those rankings don't mean a lot at all.  Look at Navasotas ranking obviously they weren't the best in the state if Carthage beat them.  By the way I would never have voted our Tigers in the top ten in football either until the playoffs if there was a new poll then.

I just really dislike rankings. I don't know more than they do but I have common sense. I just happen to know a lot about both Lincoln and Madison sports. Like Carthage last year in football, they were just young. I think the same thing about Lincoln. I just think the road to state is stronger in the Dallas area and give the edge to them this year.

  11. Lincoln is 3-3, with one of those wins over Houston Bellaire, 79-78. The same Houston Bellaire team that a Silsbee Lite beat last week 63-59. Just to catch you up to speed, Silsbee is "Lite" because they still have 8 varsity players (3 of which are starters) still playing football.

Dallas Lincoln is good, not state champion good.

Again, waste of time discussing this matter with the likes.

Lincoln doesn't have all their players yet but will soon. I'm not knocking Silsbee at all but I don't think they can beat Lincoln or Madison. Actually think it says a lot about Silsbee to be 3-0 with their players out. Since you want to talk about records, look who they lost too. Please list those games. The teams they lost to Silsbee can't beat. So they barely beat Bellaire.

They're schedule is VERY tough. All you looked at is 3 losses on the record.

Congrats on beating Diboll and LaTexo btw. Come with a better argument next time please.

  12. so what do you know about Lincoln that TABC doesn't know,  they aren't even ranked as of now?

Soooo....by your logic what did Silsbee people know about the Tigers that Dave Cambell didn't? Silsbee got 0 top 10 preseason votes but they made it to the elite eight. Rankings don't mean a thing. Heck I think Carthage was in the top 10 last year and had no business there.

Apparently a lot if they are not ranked. Please tell me you don't listen to rankings. Even with our "mighty" dawgs we don't care about high rankings. People look at returning starters and base it off that. How Lincoln is not ranked beats the crap out of me. They barely loss to power James Madison and they were very young. Point guard was a freshmen. I'd be very surprised if they don't win it all. Rankings mean nothing. All they do is sell magazines and increase website traffic.

  13. Poor ole Silsbee, just can't do anything right.

Might as well move the town of Silsbee to East TX so we can start winning trophies.

Maybe some of that East TX greatness will start rubbing off on them

Not a knock on Silsbee at all. Just don't think they will win it all. Heck we know Carthage can't even touch Silsbee on the court. Imagine if we beat yall, there will most definitely be payback on the court. I just think Dallas Lincoln will take it this year.

  14. The more I think about it...the more I realize..  Even with all of these #1 rankings and 30+ win seasons...the area doesn't really bring home any hardware in basketball either.  Not for a while anyway.  Accept ion...Yates maybe.  Most highly recruited school in all of greater Houston.  Lol.    I mean...without a doubt the best team in the entire area for it's class (Big Sandy) lost the state championship last year to a bunch of medium sized football players.

Makes me realize even more than there is a lot of "I'm not as good as I think" going on around here.  Makes me lean more and more towards Carthage.

Good luck to all parties.  Hoping for an injury free game.

Yeah I thought the same thing when I see the posts bragging about the bball team. Yes they are very good in their area and class but they won't be bringing home trophies anytime soon.
