All of this happened last year, the school becoming aware of the video and sharing, when the QB was the varsity QB and they were on their way to the Championship

This was in the fall of 2016 when the video was shared. I was taken during April of 2016. Kid wasn't even on Varsity and wasn't even the frontrunner for being QB the next season. Please leave football out of this.

Sounds like the possibility of winning took priority.

Child pornography is a serious matter.

At the time of the incident, it had nothing to do with football. Kid was on JV and no one was sold on him being QB. The family is saying that the school did not do enough to stop the video from distributing but I honestly don't know how that could have been done. All in all, my money is that he won't be the QB in Carthage next season.

How do you explain Lake Travis winning 5 in a row under 3 different head coaches?

By the way...a MAJORITY of the time the new AD brings their own people.  Especially at a school that size.

I'm just curious did they bring their own people. It happens

  4. The OP is missing an important point. Surratt is the GOAT of east texas, but a lot had to do with his staff. I'm curious about the teams that kept winning after their coach left. I wonder the the majority of the staff stay. With that being said, if Surratt and his staff leaves Carthage, bye bye state titles.

Thank You Griff, you said everything I wanted to say and more. WOS Mustangs you guys are my hero, because no one expected you to be in the State Championship game except  a few of us faithful. You are achievers no matter what the score showed last night. Get Ready for next year because I know tradition and pursuit with never die.

Who didn't expect them to go to state? I sure did! Like i said in the preseason, WO-S is like Carthage now. They will have some exceptional teams and go deep. If they just have a good team, it just means that their with the rest of the pack and still have a good shot. At the end of the day, Pleasant Grove got a state title but WO-s will be right in the thick of it again.

Always the response.  And never a good one.

Head coaches that are athletic directors are considered administrators.  Same as Principal’s.  Head coaches that are campus directors, or whatever other title they may hold, maybe considered that as well.

They also are in charge of over 200 student athletes at many places, and some places way more.

They are also under massive public scrutiny.  Teachers not so much.

At probably all the schools mentioned in the article, they probably bring in close to 100K $ per home game.  Teachers don’t.

    Very well said.

True lol luckily Carthage loses their rb this year. But they looked unstoppable in all facets of the game last week.

Carthage is stacked for the next few years. Carthage will be contenders for a while

Navasota rarely played their starters a full game.

Heck did you look at that schedule? They almost scored 500 points alone on historically horrible Houston teams. I do believe they put their back ups in but with the schedule Carthage plays year in and year out, their backups could never put those numbers up against state contenders.

The # of kids that went D-I from the skill positions on those teams speak for themselves.  No doubt Carthage will have more than just the RB go play on Saturdays too.

I agree that is hard to compare apples to oranges, I just take exception to saying that 4A has never seen an offense like this..Gilmer and Navasota are just two that I can think of that were as good or better than Carthage.  Burnet with McGee and Shipley were pretty special too.

Liberty Hill has two of the top ten all-time rushing totals in the country.

2004 the team rushed for 7221 yards.  I believe two guys over 2k yards and 2 more at or over 1K yards.

2006 team had 6446.  Once again two guys at or over 2k yards.

There you go with these numbers again. Carthage had plenty of chances to break a lot of the scoring and yardage records. I remember back in 2008 Dwight Smith only had 4 carries in the game and all were TD's and Suratt took him out. This dawg offense is special. Navasota 2012 was good but like another poster stated, you have to take in account the VERY weak schedule they had. Carthage has a top 5 schedule year in and year out. I just think it's pointless to use these skewed stats b/c Carthage rarely plays their starters a full game.

One more thing, of course LH will have records rushing, that's all they've done for the past 10 years. Don't understand why you are discrediting this Carthage offense.

    Exactly.

This is ridiculous hyperbole by Carthage fans.

I can think of 20 teams in the Houston area alone that would just obliterate the line of scrimmage every play against Carthage and would likely hold them to negative yardage for the game until the lead stretched out to over 50.

    In class 4a?

I don't know what the takeaway is except that was the worst defensive performance I've ever seen in person...  in any sport.  Or maybe Carthage is the the magic dragon of offense, I don't know.  I'd like to ask a Carthaginian if they were able to score on ever 2nd or 3rd play against the worst defense they played this year, I mean the second worst defense, not Silsbee.  I doubt it.

Of course the coach called it off but absent that decision the only thing that could have governed their scoring was simple caloric intake.  You're going to use up your fuel eventually.  No, on second thought that wouldn't have stopped their scoring.  Because the Silsbee defense was running around and expending calories as well, doing whatever it was they were doing, while Carthage was playing football.  So yea, the Bulldogs might well have scored 128 points.  I'm betting that would have been a school record.  Is 64 points a school record for a half?  In a playoff game?  In the third round?

But kids are nothing if not resilient.  The Tigers can simply forget it ever happened.  And that's what they should do because it was a freakish phenomenon that will never be repeated.  That first half was the worst defensive performance in the history of the school and something that bad will simply never happen again.  And since it was so ridiculously bizarre and since it will never happen again the best thing is to just forget about it.  There's nothing to learn from it and nothing to take away from it.  If you get hit by a meteor would you alter your lifestyle so that you don't get hit by another meteor?  Of course not.

Back in 2008 we were ahead of Tatum 63-14 at the half. Their two tds came from kickoff returns.

  12. I will say this. If the tigers somehow pull this thing off. I think they will have a legit SHOT to make ti to the semis. If Lavega gets upset, they may even make it to state, but hopefully the Dawgs assist in your next state title by ending your season early so you can all be 100% for bball.

Just because you didnt post on SeTXSports does not mean you didnt expect to win.

I visit Smoaky on the regular, though I dont post much outside our common interests, there was plenty

    of confidence to spread around.

No shame in it, just keep it civil and cordial.

Always the best option to have great engagemens.

I was referring to the annual trash talk of Carthage fans on this site. I promise you the majority of Carthage fans would not have been surprised if they had lost that game. They weren't very impressive during the regular season.

The tigers should be very tired of Carthage being in the way no disrespect to the bulldogs but the tigers are used to playing Carthage and if Tyler doesn’t slip down the would have beat Carthage last year. This is probably one of the dogs best team in a long time but they will get a good test out of these young tigers play calling and solid defense will be huge for silsbee and remember upsets do happen good luck to both teams.

The Bulldogs has NO business winning that game! It turned our season around. Don't know if you noticed or not last year but hardly anyone from Carthage posted here bc we were NOT expecting to win. This year I say Dawgs by 21.

Not to get into Goblin's head, but it probably has something to do with a fact that a Carthage supporter spoke up and nobody from Tenaha has.

I know that I have never made it a secret that even if you are not a "core" SETX school, if your supporters take the time to post here, we'll take the time to mention you.

    Oh ok. That makes sense.
