  1. that's a pretty weak statement. that the game IN SILSBEE was so close, and their identical district records would indicate they're still pretty even, even without Burrell. Burrell's impending return also makes this a soon-to-be moot point. Through this statement you're clearly trying to imply that the hecklers are irrelevant, and that they are not a factor in HJ's success. One only has to look at the whining and moaning about them that goes on in the basketball forum to realize just how big of an effect they have on the outcomes of games. If it bothers you fans so much, imagine how much they must get into the heads of the hawks' opponents. Usually there are very few who come on here and talk crap, at least to start. Most of the time there is negative talk about the hecklers in whichever game thread, and the hecklers come on here and defend themselves. Of course, they don't always show a lot of tact, but what do you expect when you have grown men criticizing high school kids? I don't think any Hawk fan, player, or coach is going to lose sleep about not having your support. Many fans in the area outside of Sour Lake supported the Hawks last year during their run to state, and i doubt that this year will be any different. Once again, surprisingly, I don't think anyone in the hecklers cares too much about who you root for. You're entitled to hold your petty grudge, although i think it's funny how someone who's name implies age and wisdom is one of the few people I hear griping about this situation, rather than a player or student. The posts you've made over the season about the hecklers would be more fitting coming from either. I notice that BCcardbacker and cardinalcc don't seem to have the same issues you do.
  2. i, for one, don't care what happens to him. i never liked him, even when he came to houston. i'm with you purple, i have a feeling he's lying, and if he is, i doubt he'll ever admit to the truth, even if they provide solid evidence. i believe that unless he can somehow completely prove his innocence, he'll never make it into the hall of fame. i doubt that his punishment will extend much further than that. congress doesn't have the same hatred for him that they do for barry bonds, who i have no doubt will serve jail time if they can ever get the concrete proof against him. so i think roger gets a slap on the wrist at worst, and maybe no hall of fame. hopefully this scandal will at least force him into retirement.
  3. Someone give Mrs. Mattingly brain mcnamee's number!
  4. Hecklers, don't worry about what these folks say. If they could get that type of support at their schools, they would embrace it. It's hard for folks to digest when ya'll come in and ride their team the whole time, especially because ya'll give an already great hawk team an even bigger advantage. No schools in the area can raise the kind of support that ya'll give, so other schools lash out with threats and criticism towards ya'll. I'm sure this is often out of frustration after ya'll help the hawks win a game by a large margin. Fans that are normally classy and fair are reduced to whining and throwing insults after the hecklers come to town. Having been to several games where the hecklers were in attendance, i will say this: i personally have never seen a heckler do anything overly offensive, unless he was provoked. I have, however, seen parents and students from opposing schools target the hecklers with profanity and threats. There have even been instances where fans from the opposing team have tried to attack the hecklers in the parking lot after a game. This is unfair. The hecklers are nothing more than an extremely devoted group of fans who do their best to support their team, and provide the hawks with a home court advantage, even when they're on the road. So hecklers, keep doing what you do, and if you step on some toes, don't worry too much about breaking them.
  5. Looks like the hawks are just going to keep on reloading the next few years!
  6. i'm looking forward to watching him on saturday afternoons!
  7. I don't think pride alone will be enough to get the bulldogs up for this game. Central by a lot. Central 77 Nederland 55
  8. some folks from HF were talking at the beginning of the season like they were going to be competing for a playoff spot, so i'm a little surprised they're so far down. WOS also surprised me. we knew they were losing some good players, but i'm surprised they're not closer to playing .500 basketball in district. HJ and Silsbee have done just what we suspected they'd do, but both of them have had some close games with teams that we did not expect. OF has certainly surprised some people. Many of us didn't think they'd be in the top half of district, much less playing a meaningful game the last week of the season, so congrats to the bobcats on a great year.
  9. I think Phil and i must have gotten golf lessons from the same guy.
  10. Way to go lamar! It's nice to see them playing better ball. Hopefully this will translate to more fans at the games.
  11. Kansas pulling away a little bit: Kansas 65 Baylor 56 8 minutes left
  12. This was not an impressive outing for the horns, but they found a way to win. The big 12 has really improved top to bottom. If you don't bring a good game, any team in the conference can beat you.
  13. Baylor is still holding their own! Kansas 55 Baylor 52 11 minutes remaining
  14. I'm not getting the game on TV, so I'm not sure if this is home cooking or not, but Kansas has taken 17 free throws, and Baylor has taken 3. Kansas is now up 44-37, two and a half minutes into the 2nd half.
  15. You're right. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull away and win this one by 15-20 points. They better not mess around, though
  16. This game is being played in Lawrence, Kansas. at the half, Baylor is more than holding their own. Kansas 36 Baylor 33
  17. they almost brought down a highly ranked tennessee team, losing by two on a last second steal and layup.
  18. i don't know that i did anything that would humiliate the guy, although if it does, he can always remove his post. as for the name bullets, well, i'm just a big teddy bear . there, i fixed it. Doctor Samson why even enage or fall into his trap? Bullet is always the hero of his own stories have you not noticed? He is trying to one up Bh89-2 so let him alone. Besides Gig'em is about to win their third in a row. ;D You've never been so right.
