it's all good man. you can only do what you can do. my first two years at HJ we could actually field a starting 11 of players who were playing competitive soccer outside of school, with a few more coming off the bench. we lost about a bunch of those guys my junior year, and my senior year we only had 6, with 4 of them being freshmen. in that situation, there's only so much you can do. when you have a team with a few real soccer players, a few guys who are naturally talented enough to become soccer players, a few athletes, and a few guys who are playing because it's the only sport they can make the team, you can only expect so much. HJ will definitely benefit when there are enough teams for a full 3A district. on a side note, i really am impressed with the improvement from last year.

i watched this one tonight. HF controlled the game, but i wasn't really that impressed with them. the score probably should've been 2-0 HF, but had either team played against a solid defense they would not have scored. The hawks' back line crumbled twice off of set plays and ticky tack rebounds were tapped home. the hawk keeper really played a solid game (despite allowing 5 goals), but he did let a very weak shot roll under him from about a mile out. both of HJ's goals came on tap-ins off of the HF goalie's mistakes (i was at the concession stand for the first one, but was told he dropped a ball). watching the game, it was obvious that HF has a lot more players that have spent some time playing soccer, and HJ is in the same situation it is every year, with a few year-round players and a lot of athletes trying to fill the gaps. i will say that HJ has improved quite a bit from last year, but they still have a long way to go before they'll be competing with the better teams from this area on a regular basis.

Apparently you don't know how to read. In that 3-0 game we were without 3 KEY players and our STARTING goalie. Those key players and goalie are still at Silsbee playing soccer. I highly doubt HJ will roll Silsbee this year. HJ has a better team this year than last, but i believe silsbee does, too. HJ should be much more competitive against silsbee this year, but they're still facing an uphill battle trying to beat them.

this is a BIG signing for them, though. until they can fill their lineup from top to bottom with serious talent, it's important that they at least have a couple of explosive players that can create their own chances.

wouldn't count out HJ no substitute for experience I definitely am not counting them out, but i still think silsbee has the better team this year (and i'm a hawk alum)

silsbee has the best chance. there are some tough teams in their way, however.

They've got a good coach this year. I think if they let Coach Smith take care of them they will be getting better and mabey hanging with some of the better schools in the future. i need to talk to her. i'd like to come out and work with the forwards some.

Is Silsbee really that good this year? no, he's just FROM Silsbee. Silsbee's team isn't bad at all, though. i'll be surprised if they don't make the playoffs.

not really sure what you're implying there. i've heard nothing about HJ diving or cheating. i have heard that HJ doubled up on Ozen with shots, and also earned two PK's. it sounds to me like they played the better game, and the lion's share of the scoring opportunities. each team had a couple of players missing, but with the result being 1-1, i'm not willing to say that Ozen would've won by 3 goals had their GOALIE been at the game. it sounds like the backup did well for them.

you really are dreaming if you think that a team can double you up in shots and earn two penalty kicks and you somehow outplayed them.

read my post... hj DOMINATED THIS GAME haha.. dominated? you missed 2 freaking pk's... that's domination alright ;D i would say earning two PK's is more of an indication of who controlled the game than whether or not they made them. so missing 2 pks makes you a better dominating team....ha thats hilarious are you slow? i said the fact that they earned two penalties would indicate that they controlled the game, and spent some time around your box. if they're earning PK's that means they're spending a lot of time in the attacking 3rd, which meant ya'll weren't. it also means ozen's defense needs some work. HJ's penalty kicks apparently need work as well.
